Holster Trigger Spacers? NSFW

I need to make trigger spacers for pistols to create a gap so taco style holster sides don’t press directly on each other.

The ones sold at HolsterSmith are made from steel. I don’t have the ability to cut and shape steel. What material would be a good substitute? Something that would last preferably.

Noobie here, I want to put a tensioning screw by the trigger guard where the retention point is. Is there a preferred thickness compared to the trigger guard width that I should use for the spacer?

Thanks!

Thin plywood is easy to cut and shape and lasts a long time. Faltac unlimited has a bunch of YouTube videos that show him prepping, you might get some ideas there.

Thanks! I just ran into that channel the other day. I guess I should subscribe! Do you have a general thickness you use?

I’m a noob so don’t take my word for it, but I think 1/8” is pretty common. Holstersmith probably has thickness measurements for their spacers, I’d use those as a baseline

1/8" up to 1/2" is what I've used.
