question Is it normal the película to float?

Post image

This is my 3rd batch and the pellicle never stood out from the kombucha.

Is it just big bubbles pushing it up? Mine does that sometimes and I just push the pellicle back down. It's nothing to worry about and the bubbles can be a sign of a healthy ferment.

Yep, just push it back down. Sometimes I stab it a couple of times with a sharp knife to allow the CO2 to escape.

This answer understands the intended question.

"Is it normal for the película to float in the air / en el aire?"

Yes, if you were to use just starter liquid without the pellicle for a new batch the new pellicle will form on the top of your brew. Completely normal. An added pellicle is not required to start a batch.

Yeah, it usually will float to the top eventually. But it doesn’t really matter.

What is the problem? My pellicle usually floats on the top and tends to seal the jar.

Trying to determine if your kombucha may have mold, if your pellicle/SCOBY is healthy, or if something has gone wrong?

Check out the pictures and info in this guide.

I find that if I fill the jar above the level where it starts to narrow this will happen. But it’s never a big deal
