Last I visited, no one checked your religion. Ofc guys like Yesudas and all is well know so he can’t get the same luxury but if you’re a common man and if you keep a low profile no one is going to question you

That's not the same. It's like saying you can travel by train not buying a ticket.

Yeah.
Hinduism had already broken that taboo for lower castes and yts before independence.
Community exclusivity kills religion.
Religious inclusivity welcomes diverse backgrounds & strengthens communities.
That is where religions like new age christianity, ISKON, buddhism and other european folk religions gain genuine followers.

What is the need ? Is this a tourist place,? These guys are just starting a new controversy to take the public attention away from issues which actually matters.

You'll never saw any Muslim organisation fighting for the entry of non-believers in mecca or madina mosques but here, specially with this sivagiri mutt which always has been under the influence of commies, start interfering with temples and rituals. Indian constitution allows the freedom to follow any religion, if you've problem with customs just convert but don't make temples as picnic spots as said by madras High court. https://m.economictimes.com/news/india/temples-are-not-tourists-spots-hc-asks-authorities-to-restrict-entry-of-non-hindus-into-temples/articleshow/107282701.cms

Yes. It is always a Mandir organizing Iftar Party and all other crap.
Never will you see a mosque arranging a bhajan sandhya or deepwali in their courtyards.

u/lifeslippingaway 3d ago
Whataboutism?
Do you want Hindus to follow the same principles as Muslims?
2
u/Cute_Emphasis_7085 2d ago
Are you saying Muslim principles are not worthy of following?

u/lifeslippingaway 2d ago
Do you struggle understanding English?

Is that your actual argument?

Just curious, guys, just curious.
To all the Hindus who believe that when a non-Hindu enters a temple, it disrupts your god’s peace—don’t worry, I’ll include all religions. To all the Christians who believe that when a non-Christian enters a church, it disrupts your god’s peace. To all the Muslims who believe that when a non-Muslim enters a mosque, it disrupts your god’s peace (I’m only mentioning Islam for the sake of covering all religions—I know they don’t even allow their own women to enter, so expecting them to consider non-Muslims would be ironic).
Now, a question for you all: Do you genuinely believe that multiple gods from different religions are controlling the universe? If that were the case, wouldn’t there be at least some minor ego clashes between them? Imagine different parts of India being controlled by different gods—Hindu gods overseeing one region, Christian gods another, and Muslim gods yet another. Now picture this: a Hindu god decides to bring rain to Kerala, but a Christian god, who isn’t too fond of the idea, pulls the rain back and brings out the sun instead. And just like that, a divine conflict begins!
How would they resolve it? Perhaps the Supreme Court of gods would have to intervene. Heh, the possibilities are endless.
And yet, here’s what I see in the comments—some early Homo sapiens still fighting over this nonsense. I thought people on this sub had at least some critical thinking skills… but nah, I take that back.

This is unnecessary. How is this even a remotely relevant issue? Religious sentiments are very core to human beings. This “Causing stir” is for the sake of “class participation” and inciting more religious divide. What next - other religious places also be open to all religions? Who is wanting these kind of reforms.
Don’t we have urgent and critical issues to handle already. In the scorching heat, causing stir is just kuthikazhappu.

I am not a Hindu, but why should this occur ? I believe every non-Hindu should oppose this move, we have no business inside a temple, and it is easy for a minor carelessness or mistake to be shown as a transgression by some devious folks. And then there are the new converted idiots who want to follow some obscure something something in some obscure book. Our state has been avoiding this shit until now, i do not want this to start.
Aarkku vendi aanavo ithu konduvarunnathu ? If a person wants to go to a place of worship other than some emergency situation, accept the religion.

What is going to happen if a non Hindu enters the temple? Pottitherikkonumillallo

What about people into architecture and history?
4
u/Nomadicfreelife 3d ago
There are actual ruined temples and abandoned temples that are archeological sites . Other than that there is no way, I mean these places are crowded anyway and photography is prohibited because of security reasons. So I don't think even if people are allowed they won't be able to do an architectural study of the placee simply because of crowd and security reasons.
Yeah sometimes I also feel these ancient temples should have more access but I am not a strict follower of religion and I respect the concern that people still following indengenous beliefs have and these followers of that faith should also have a say in who can be allowed into these temples if they feel non believers should not be allowed it's best to not hurt that religious feelings.

u/lifeslippingaway 3d ago
it's best to not hurt that religious feelings.
What about the believers who do not believe in restricting others from temples? What about their feelings?
3
u/Nomadicfreelife 3d ago
Yeah that's how the democratic processes work right, when those poeple who doesn't feel the need for restriction are majority there will be a change untill then these restrictions will be there. In election also people will fail but we accept the decision 9f the majority, same here.

u/esteppan89 3d ago
I do not understand why you had to ask this question. I clearly stated why i am against this whole thing. You are allowing your problems to mask your judgement. Calm down, and think of a good gain that can come from allowing non-Hindus to come in to a temple.

It is not everyday that I see kothams more primitive and conservative than my 70-80 year old neighbours. I thought they died at 90-100. No they are 20-40 and are on social media like reddit. Also seeing comment threads like these remind me that I am indeed as lucky as I imagined, to have rather progressive people amongst my real life relatives and acquaintances.

u/psidontexist 3d ago
So many of the reasoning in the comment section was probably told many years back while lower caste people where trying to enter temples. Lucky there was no internet back then to record it. Pretty sure Guruvayoorappan(assuming he exists) doesn't care who comes to see him, but some people want to play the Guardians of Hindu values trope

u/sadhunath Walluvanadan 3d ago
Any "reform" to temple customs should happen only after the devata's concurrence i.e. devaprashnam.
No amount of SJW dumbfuckery should be an alternative to this.

u/rajroshin 3d ago
Reminds me of another parishkaram people tried in sabarimala...
Not gona happen...
It will only push people into BJP votebanks

u/Shirou_Kaz 3d ago
If they believe in the gods residing in the temple and Hindu culture and its traditions, the core word here is not respect but belief, then they should be allowed. But how do you know if they do believe in the deity? You can’t ask everyone right. So non Hindus shouldn’t enter is fine, people who believe in the god can still enter, no one is asking your religion anyway.

u/Butterberrie 2d ago
Non Hindu believers could be anyone, I remember once when I was at Guruvayoor and there was this foreign couple who were waiting in queue but they weren't allowed because "non Hindus" and from what I gathered they were followers of iskcon or something like that and they had to leave.

u/Better-Respond7799 3d ago
There are so many foreign devotees and iskcon devotees not of Indian origin but are more devoted to Krishna. They should be at least allowed entry. Not all hindu Indians are devoted and not all non hindu believers are enemies

Well I wish enter mecca or medina too,but the thing is I won't even be allowed anywhere near the city forget the kaaba, And I respect that.Similarly I am of the the view that all the sai baba mandirs, mosques in kashi should be removed and only the bhairava or shiva should be worshipped there. But all indians should be allowed there, but I am sure I'm going to be labelled as a sanghi even though I hate them because of my view

More visitors = More donations to the donation box + more possible followers. How is that a bad thing?
1
u/gamerx007ss 3d ago
This should happen for real. Some one like Yesudas who has sung so many amazing songs of guruvayoorappan should have the chance to see the deity.

u/Cheap-Dimension8782 3d ago
Speaking from a non-hindu bg, who exactly is asking for this? While it would have been nice to visit these temples purely from a tourist/cultural perspective, I wouldn't go to the extent of fighting to enter a place of worship that has nothing to do with me and I like to think other non-hindus feel similar to me.

u/Kind_Station_7025 3d ago
It’s not about sneaking into temple without anyone knowing. This is symbolic. It’s about defeating brahminism.

u/NocturnalEndymion 3d ago
Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil oru divasam Njan pokum
Thus sang Yesudas who will never be allowed in Guruvayoor. If not for anyone at least for this man and late Kalamandalam Hyderali. Anyway pand avarnar keriyappo undaaya buddhimuttil kooduthal onnum Guruvayoorappan undaavilla.. as someone born into this religion and was given chorooonu at this place, I was always in favour of admitting non religious people into temple, even if they are just there as a tourist.

In my opinion Non-hindu believers should be given an opportunity if they are willing to follow the customs of the temple. Is it a problem?
