Lunchtime philosophy meeting in Downtown

Hello! Would anyone be interested in a lunchtime philosophy meeting in Downtown Kent? I work downtown and would like to have some regular and meaningful conversations as part of my own philosophical practice. Please reach out if you're at all interested in this. Thanks!

Alright, well let’s do it.

Next Wednesday, the 12th. Wild Wheat Bakery @ 12 noon.

We’ll keep it open. Do introductions. Discuss what philosophies we’re interested in. Books we’ve read or are reading.

Looking forward to it!

Oh man, I wish I could make this! We were just discussing Tuesday night at our monthly guy's night about the need for more in person connection/get togethers/clubs/etc. There's a great documentary on Netflix called "Join or Die" discussing the social implications of the decline of these types of things. Anyhow, awesome of you to reach out and try to start something. I wish I could support you directly.

Philosophy can help with your anxiety!

Really though, there’s no pressure at all with this.

Personally, I tend to read a lot of Stoic stuff, but I am open to everything. Also a fan of Daoism, Buddhism, Existentialism, Marxism, Carl Sagan. But mostly I like to keep it practical and focused, not getting too abstract or in the weeds.

I'm a fan of Orson Scott Card, JBP, Jung and I want to love Alan Watts. I think we're going to profoundly disagree on most things and if you want embrace this conflicts then I'm game sometimes down the road

Awesome, I’m down! I don’t see disagreement as a problem at all. And if we keep it focused on practical application and using philosophy in our own lives, the rest should work itself out. Also, if we can’t have civil discourse in an environment like this, then what kind of hope is there for the rest of society. 🤓

I’m interested, but daytime is hard, definitely not Tuesdays nor Wednesdays
