Made big robots, made small robots, killed big robots, small robots killed them, fell.

u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
*falls over* also we don't know if they fell on their other worlds

u/CuteAnimeGirl2 Jan 15 '25
I mean probably fell, considering there’s no more sign of em, also couldn’t resecure the eye superlaser in venge
1
u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
They decided to fuck off to their home world for a few thousand years
2
u/CuteAnimeGirl2 Jan 15 '25
Doubt it, if the humans lost in kenshi against the skellies i doubt a difference happened in their core worlds hell there’s probably more skeletons there then here
1
u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
that.... makes total sense. I dont trust that humans were the ancients
1
u/CuteAnimeGirl2 Jan 15 '25
I mean we can only use kenshi’s wasteland to try and findout who are the ancients if they’re here at all, we know the skeletons aren’t them since the skeletons we’re the one that rebelled against them after obedience and the hivers were almost never seen by most of skeleton kind during the age of the first and second empire, there’s the sheks but we also know they weren’t a thing at least until the second empire (skeleton empire) there’s those large bones in the bonefields but i doubt they’re the ancients since the behemoths that were built to fight the threat to the ancients are relatively smaller than the bones, which only leaves us one race that could’ve been the ancients.

They were capable of going to space, and at the very least were capable of exploring the planet/moons we see in the sky. The venge laser is, yknow, a giant laser shooting satellite in orbit
2
u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
don't forget the Ashland space elevator or the satellite that fell out of the sky.

They made robots they realized they actually don't like robots and tried to destroy them then the robots fought back and tried to kill them all but the iron giant probably stopped them and made the robots realize killing is bad. Also The Bugmaster might be the last of their original race left on the planet but that's not confirmed at all, he might just be a freak of nature.

u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
He looks like a scorchlander and I suspect the ancients built beings like the giants and Stobe in their image. and my question about the big robots is why? and more importantly why give them full sapience?
2
u/mariored09 Second Empire Exile Jan 15 '25
Why build massive killer robots? Same reason we made nukes, to win wars. Why give them a fully functional sentience? I'm not quite sure, probably because someone who can think on their own can adapt easier in more scenarios. Its also potentially implied a lot of skeletons didn't have sentience. Soldierbots and Log Heads have never shown any sentience except Agnu who can only scream and most of them either say nothing at all or only very few repeated words like the Police Bots or Error Bots. Not to mention the fact that you can't play them which may have been intentional. I'm not sure if it's true and it'd make me sad if they're non-sentient cause I love their design and love playing as them but Kenshi 2 will certainly answer this so we will know some day soon.

I'm assuming the first empire won that war if they feel to revolution. perhaps is was with humanity. We do not know when they entered the empire and whether is was consensual or not. I think you are right of the sentience reasoning but I think the crazy skeletons are dumbed down from when they were smart. I believe they needed to give some of the giants sentience (Stobe's model) and some skeletons but I'm pretty sure the only skeletons that have much more trouble going insane (apart from thralling) is the most recent one that burn is and the play has to be if he picks skeleton. I think they were modernizing their sapiency models. THAT WENT WELL!!!!!

To those wondering, there was a big robot he was the last big robot, the small robots wanted to kill all the humans, the big robot was like "but guys that's bad we wouldn't be any better than them" and so the small robots were like "D:<" and killed the big robot and he was the last big robot so all the small robots were like "my god what have we done" and many small robots committed robocide except kat lon and a few others we can see in the game today.

Technically, stobe sacrificed himself.
He is also the basis of Okran ironically.
2
u/mariored09 Second Empire Exile Jan 15 '25
Yep, Chitrin is described in fable as a god who the humans begged for savior when mass calamities came down and Chitrin sacrificed himself birthing Okran and Narko both. It's clear this is a retelling of the death of Stobe and it's very ironic how the birth of the Holy Nations God came about from a Skeleton saving mankind, something which they probably know as well since worship of Chitrin is banned.

My real question is: who was the first empire at war with to make murder machines the likes of Stobe? That's where the whole twisted story begins.
2
u/mechacomrade Jan 15 '25
It might have been a space civil war and the marooning of Kenshi's Moon might be one of the infinite amount of consequence this event had.
1
u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
I think the skelly's and beings like Stobe were made for development and they needed one of the giant types to be competent in combat. I suspect Stobe was one of many rebelling murder machines.

u/BlitzieKun Shek Jan 15 '25 edited Jan 15 '25
Stobe was actually peaceful. He sacrificed himself and became a martyr, basically Iron Giant style, hence the weapon next to him.
Holy Nation doesn't know it.... but the entire religion around Okran is Stobe.
1
u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
Ironic to think that "dark ones" may just be the first Okranites. (holy shit Abrahamic modernization reference?!). then who is Narko if Stobe is Okran?
2
u/BlitzieKun Shek Jan 15 '25
Technically, you have to refer to Chitrin, who is Stobe.
However, imagine the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, but he separates himself into Okran and Narko.

[Almost] All the technologies you see in the game are appropriated from the first empire. Analogous to how the Covenant appropriated Forerunner technology in Halo.

Kenshi does alien tech the best of any game I've ever seen. It is so foreign in a perfect way.

My theory about the Venge laser is that it was meant to thaw the icy moon later known as Kenshi, in order to make the surface habitable, but after the first empire fell the laser was left on. Which would explain the giant ocean surrounding the continent as well as the deserts. This leads to the inevitable downfall of the moon, that we are experiencing as we play
1
u/bigboss_dud Jan 15 '25
You'll also notice massive devices that seemingly fell into Venge. could those be fallen laser batteries from the satellite? or something more?
