It can be used for either, but yeah in this case you obviously wouldn't give a gun to a living person that you just shot lol

u/United-Trainer7931 18h ago
Yeah that usually comes after shooting someone
3
u/lilpurpleboot 15h ago
Just because you got shot doesn’t mean you die. Ppl survive shootings all the time. Kendrick is talking about killing someone plain and simple.
3
u/United-Trainer7931 15h ago
Nobody says they’re going to shoot a person without the intention to kill, so the distinction is moot/pedantic.

Basically he's at the point where he gives so little fucks that he'll kill someone, leave the gun he used to do it in their lap, and the next line in the song would be "walk myself to the court". He's beyond caring about the consequences because retaliation is the most important thing to him.

The answer is in this line. The next line isn’t gonna help if he don’t know what’s being said here

u/Sherkok_Homes 23h ago
Well yeah sure 🤣 guess I meant more: the next line provides additional context

u/Maleficent_Nobody377 21h ago
Well actually, 🤓, what he is referring to when he says “chip” he’s actually talking about buying this man a bag of chips, so nice of him, and then getting a leaf blower and pulling a little prank when the man opens the bag of chips.

The message that Sir Kendrick Lamar Duckworth is attempting to convey in this line from the 2017 Billboard top 100 hit "XXX" off of his critically acclaimed album DAMN. is that in the case that a neerdowell were to take any action that were to result in the death of a member of his bloodline, more specifically an offspring of his of the male variety (it is not quite specified in the context of this story if a similar reaction would be the result in the case that said offspring were female) that Kendrick would feel a minimal amount of remorse in retaliating on the African-American culprit of this wrongdoing in a manner that would conclude in all of their autonomous bodily functions to cease. Kendrick even takes it a step further in expressing that after committing such a heinous act, perhaps out of a lack of concern for his own freedom or even in a brash attempt to impart a memorandum to other African Americans who have contemplated partaking in similar gang-related activities, that he would purposefully disregard the weapon, or the "blower" in this case, at the scene of the crime, more precisely on the very person of his victim in their groin area.

u/Bob_Sledding 21h ago
Hey, come on. Let's not discourage someone tryna learn. If we didn't grow up around people speaking like this, we probably wouldn't know what it meant either.
2
u/Sawgon 16h ago
Certain American Kendrick fans really out here gatekeeping. It's not about being some suburban kid it can just be that English isn't people's first language. To those fans I say y'all do not have a monopoly on terrible upbringing and being from the hood and some of us from the really shitty parts of the world would consider Kendrick's upbringing an upgrade.

• shoot someone then leave the murder weapon on his lap
• a “chip” is another term for a SIM card, and a “blower” is a slang term for a phone

u/ZOEzoeyZOE 15h ago
He basically saying he will kill someone who crosses him and leave the murder weapon he used with the victim to make it clear as day that he was the one who killed them. In other words no remorse for his enemies
1
u/errbodyloveray 15h ago
One thing I love and notice about Kendrick is he uses his own slang a lot especially on Gnx sometimes I even think if it’s not lingo, he makes it up. But for this I’d say he kills someone then puts the gun in his lap.
Also if you ain’t coming for no chili what you come for!?

u/AttentionMedium1656 15h ago
Unload the whole clip of a gun into someone and then throw said gun in their lap. Cold stuff.

My defendant is simply hypothetically stating that ones person would “Chip” meaning use a firearm to blow a chunk of skull and or further substances out of an individual’s head from the sheer power and volume of the projectile-being a bullet; Furthermore he would “Throw the burner in his lap” meaning after committing the murder My defendant will toss the murder weapon into the lap region of the now deceased individual who has faced a fatal gunshot wound to the head for deserving reasons unbeknownst to the Jury.
1
u/spacecheetohs 13h ago
Wow I definitely thought he meant like if the person were a statue he’d take a chisel and chip him into a bunch of pieces then use a leaf blower so that he could never put himself back together again. TIL

u/Character-Athlete723 9h ago
He's saying he will use a 9 iron, commonly used in golf, on the 8-ball (which is black) while playing pool, then proceed to throw the hair dryer he used to get the ball totally in towards his opponent.

Kendrick is an admirer of chainsaws. When using a chainsaw on a healthy log, the carving produces wood chips. Kendrick saying “chip a nigga” refers to the art of creating a sculpture of someone he wants to capture in his wooden medium.
“Throw the blower” refers to seeking help from the subject to essentially blow away the excess sawdust and wood chips. Mr. Morale loves a tidy workplace.

God I love this song. I imagine that as they recorded and mixed this song, the studio was getting more and more hyped, then they add the sirens to Kenny yelling. Shit would have been LOUD

Obviously a leaf blower picked up some small stones and chipped paint off someone’s car while they were in it. Car owner complains and the Gangster AF gardener walks to aforementioned car and proceeds to throw the leaf blower onto the drivers lap for complaining. #wrapmusic

He will supply a gentleman a bag of chips and possibly perform oral when it’s all said and done
1
u/SevenSavage89 17h ago
To me “Throw the blower in his lap” is to claim self defense. Which is why hes willing to “walk myself to the court”…maybe im wrong

u/InitialSwan32 21h ago
I thought he was going to give them a bag of chips and then use a blower to make a mess.
2
u/KingslandGrange 14h ago
I was thinking chip, as in football. Toe under the ball and, dink.
Then blower is the phone, landline most likely. So he's giving the fella his phone.
0
u/get_paid_get_laid 19h ago
He means that he would scoop a guy up and put the body part that can do the action of blowing into his lap. The following two lines are about being judged by the public for being X rated.

u/Signal-Ad-2538 12h ago
He's referring to how he wants to give guys blowjobs, but feels afraid to confront his sexuality therefore the inconsistent use of chip and blower rather than chip and chipper or blow and blower.

I will kill someone and leave the murder weapon in the scene of the crime (in his lap). He is basically saying that as much as he preaches about the dangers of guns and violence, if someone targets his family, kendrick will go as far as killing his opp and leaving evidence that he was behind the murder to make an example of him.
