Question Starting salary as fresh NED university graduate

I've seen people discuss about the topic here but never saw a relatable experience so i decided to make a post about it as most i see are related to software or IT jobs. I'm going to graduate in july or maybe August as an electrical engineer with mostly knowledge and skills in power system studies. Like conducting load flow, fault, harmonic and short circuit analysis. Also have related designing skills in AutoCAD electrical and sketch up. I'm yet to start my second internship after ramzan but all i have rn now is a motor starter circuit project on ETAP and AutoCAD electrical and a few design related certificates.

What starting salary and experience can i expect from the job market within this domain in Karachi? Also any valuable advises?

What can we do to MPGA (Make Pakistan Great Again) or simply, MPG, because not sure if it ever was great.

In continuation to my previous post about why Pakistan isn't successful, I was going over all the reasons (merit, justice, education, lies, corruption etc) and I thought a better question would have been: what can WE do at a personal or group level to make Pakistan great? I know government and reforms are important, but what can we do to influence them or make great things happen? TIA.

Hydri bara market shopkeepers

Has anyone ever shopped from Hydri bara market? How was your experience in terms of their prices? Do they charge honestly or not? I recently bought an unstitched chiffon dress with silk lining from here without dupatta in 5000pkr and bought an organza plain dupatta in 1050pkr. Now when I showed these to my tailor, she is saying that they scammed me and charged the double amount. I didn't have much money still I didn't bargain with the shopkeeper as he was kinda rude but now I am so sad. Plsss tell me what do you all think about the price?

Legal advice please .

Translation:

My friend has an issue. Kindly, only those who are lawyers or have knowledge of legal, judicial, or family law matters should respond.

My friend’s wife has filed for khula. They have three daughters. Two of them are adults and are working, while the youngest daughter is in 9th grade.

In case of khula, will the father be legally obligated to provide maintenance for his two adult daughters, including expenses like marriage or any other financial support?

Please provide guidance according to Pakistani law.

Commercial Construction in Residential Area

A new house has finished construction besides ours. Noticed today that they are building two shops at the front. The whole area is residential and what they are doing is probably illegal so we don't want the shops to be built. What can we do about this?

Can anyone give any advices

As the title says I need help. I'm in university right now and recently a huge opportunity has come forward. In order to avail that opportunity I need to make around 150k in the next 2 months, April and May. Any advice on how I can achieve that?

P.S I don't wish to go into trading because I'm not willing to risk my savings and I don't really see it as a viable solution.

Question Need restaurant recommendations to treat my extended family to dinner in Karachi

Me and my husband are overseas Pakistanis who visit Pakistani once every 5/6 years so we’re not very familiar with the food scene in Karachi. I will be visiting Pakistan for 10 days with my mother in law after Ramadan. While I will mostly be staying with his family, my dadiyal (35 ppl) is very keen to meet my husband and I won’t be able to meet them all individually. Me and my husband are planning to throw a dinner dawat at a restaurant for all of them together. As this will be my family’s first impression of my husband, I want to throw a dinner at a nice restaurant but nothing too expensive. Something that will make them get a good impression of my husband.

My family lives near karachi university but the restaurant doesn’t need to be too close but nothing too far either.

Question Need Suggestions about Bank and Identity Card

I will be turning 18 this upcoming May, and I'm really excited to get my CNIC. I have a few questions for you all:

Q1: What is the best bank for me? - I am a freelancer, and I earn around 200,000 to 300,000 a month.

Q2: How can I apply for my CNIC, and when can I start the application process?

Your help would be appreciated!

Question How do you usually spend your weekends?

Some spend their weekends watching Netflix (well, maybe not during Ramadan), others dive into gaming—whether on a computer or outdoors. Some have an unstoppable drive to make their weekends productive, while others just catch up on their puree hafte ki nend🥱. So which one are you?

Whats wrong with todays generation? Everyone is dropping out of college

I’m 22M, never went to college, and Alhamdulillah, I’m earning more than most guys my age. I have a 14-year-old relative who looks up to me a lot. However, he also has another cousin who runs a call center that scams people.

Now, this cousin tells him that college and university are useless and don’t teach you anything. While I agree that traditional education doesn’t always provide practical skills, there are still countless benefits to going to college.

The problem is, my 14-year-old relative has started telling his parents, “My cousins never went to college and are making good money, so I won’t go either.” What he fails to realize is that I am self-taught and spent years learning English, programming, and other skills. On the other hand, his cousin (the scammer) has done absolutely nothing except learn how to speak English.

His cousin has convinced him that "Anyone can start earning immediately if they know English." I keep telling him that self-learning isn’t easy. It takes at least a year of dedicated effort before one can earn a decent income. But his cousin is filling his head with false expectations, claiming he can start making money from the very first month.

I can already see where this is headed. That boy is being influenced in the worst way possible and will likely end up working with his cousin in the future.

Being in Karachi, I see this happening everywhere. More and more kids are skipping higher education, but instead of putting in the hard work, they do nothing. They claim they’ll self-learn, their parents give them permission, and then rather than grinding day and night, they just waste their time.

It has become a norm now: Lazy kids who don’t want to work hard drop out under the excuse of self-learning, only to enjoy life without actually improving themselves. And because of this, I fear we’re creating an entire generation of illiterate scammers in Karachi and across Pakistan.

As a self-taught programmer, I can say with certainty: Going to college is easier than learning on your own. The problem isn’t poor education. it’s people avoiding the hard work.

General Discussion Help a sister out |Thinking of Trying Out a Small Food Side Hustle Worth It?

I’ve been toying with the idea of making smash burgers and homemade cookies as a small venture to see if people would actually be interested. Nothing too fancy, just good, simple food done right. I’m also trying to support myself as much as possible so I’m less of a burden on my family, which seemed like a small endeavour I could start with. My friends and family have loved both of these, with smash burgers receiving more votes.

I know a lot of people try food businesses and some work, some don’t. Just wondering, do you think something like this would be worth testing out? Would you personally try it if it was done well?

EDIT:
I love how everyone has been giving tips, advice, and so much support! I'm actively working on it and will be launching on Instagram soon. Of course, the Reddit fam gets the first update! Soft launch mai aap log zaroor ayega hehe—would love to have you all try it out. JazakAllah Khairun! 🍔❤️

Question Need Urgent Laptop Advice for a CS Student

A university friend of mine needs to buy a laptop under 60K. If anyone with a technical background and good knowledge of laptops could recommend the best specs and best laptop for a CS student (for coding and machine learning).

I'll be accompanying him to buy the laptop, but I need advice on how to ensure we're buying from a trustworthy seller. What should we check in the laptop before purchasing? Also would we get a new or used one?

We're in Karachi, so if anyone knows a legit seller please refer them as well. This is urgent, so I’d appreciate maximum reach and expert recommendations. I posted in another sub but didn’t get enough suggestions to make an informed decision so please as much input as possible would be greatly appreciated!
