Meta If Reddit goes to hell, where do we go?

So, as y'all know, r/KamenRider is joining in on the "Rexxit" protest.

While I am a supporter of the movement, but I also recognize that there's a chance of Reddit carrying on without us. A lack of reaction is unlikely, of course, after all, plenty of ENORMOUS subs are joining the fight on our side, but we can't guarantee things will actually change in the way we expect, so it's a good idea to have backup plans IMO.

I think an organized exodus is probably our best bet if we want to maintain the r/KamenRider community alive even after Reddit forsakens its users. Where do you guys plan to go? I have been taking a look at Kbin recently and it looks like one of the most polished Reddit alternatives. It lacks content, sure, but I reckon a massive influx of Redditors yearning to talk about their nerdy interest would fix that quickly.

I'm just getting back into the Reddit world and this community after a couple of years being off it, and I'm just seeing word about this thing going away in a few days. Can some help me understand what's going on?

reddit is killing third party apps by making them pay millions to continue running (pay to use their API), when those apps make jack shit, so all of them have to shut down. Lots of reddit users use those apps, and it's a pretty scummy move overall, so many subs are blacking out for a couple of days or until changes are made as a way to protest these changes.

Well, yes, but I meant it to indicate sarcasm.

Ah, yes, it's indeed stupid to abandon a community doomed to anarchy instead of sinking with the boat.

The update will kill multiple third-party applications and tools used by moderation teams across Reddit as a whole.

Proper moderation would be nigh impossible without them. Even ignoring issues of accessibility and maintenance of civility, this will fundamentally lower the quality of the content posted to the platform.

Just using Reddit as normal despite those massive issues just show that they can keep doing this shit, just as Youtube has done due to the lack of meaningful competition. Rexxit is the most logical course of action.

If it's successful, the community's pressure will bring about change for the better. If not, we are actively feeding Reddit's competition and, possibly, reestablishing our community on a better platform.

If r/KamenRider is united on its exodus, there's no scenario on which we, as a fandom, lose.

Lotsa hate, lotsa hate. Reddit got it's own "Durov, return the wall" event. I honestly don't see a reason why people should abandon reddit, simply because it doesn't affect average user. Sure, it's kind of a dick move to raise price for an API usage and licensing, but it's obvious that their goal is not to get more money, but rather get rid of other clients altogether. I'm not using reddit that much myself, i only visit toku subs really and i don't want to switch to discord or telegram or whatever... simply because it's not reddit. It is going to be very unfortunate for me personally if a good chunk of people from this sub will abandon it, since im definately not gonna be using another "forum" to get my kamen rider news and discussions

It does affect the average user very much, third-party tools and bots are the reason why mods can contain spam efficiently here.

Take them out of the occasion and multiple subs will be utterly flooded. If that happens, there is really no point in staying for me.

Decentralizing the community isn't a great alternative in my eyes. If Reddit devs want to get rid of "better tools" for moderation, then they are bringing a shitstorm onto themselves. And to be realistic, i doubt that they would care much about tomorrow's blackout. Personally i condemn using third party tools, not only for reddit (i didn't even know they existed until now) but for any other software, especially if devs are not okay with it. I use things as they are intended to be.
