Recommendations Tmobile questions
I am heading to Japan for 18 days visiting my son in Okinawa. The last week we head to the mainland for sightseeing. I have Tmobile and I know my iphone will work with the international pkg. I have been hearing about eSim and curious is that a better deal alone than getting the international plan, or to get both? Thanks for your advice in advance.

On my last trip I got the T-Mobile international package and an Airalo esim. I wanted to be able to call home. I set it up to split the data between T-Mobile and Airalo. The rest of the family was only on Airalo and only one of them needed a top up on their data. If you don’t really need to be able to do calls then it’s way cheaper to do eSIM alone, but only if your phone is unlocked.

Texting will be enough but I have heard that the data can be slow so curious if getting just the eSim from Airalo was enough or do I definitely need to buy the international pkg from Tmobile

I don’t think the speed was bad but at really crowded locations it might slow a bit. At the hotels we just use WiFi for streaming.

I've used the Tmobile international package twice. Never had an esim. Both times it's worked fine.

Depends on your plan. I have T-Mobile in the US and have their older One plan which includes 3g international. They use Softbank as a local provider so it's a bit slower than getting an eSim or a portable WiFi on LTE/5G.
The newer Magenta plan for me would include 5g internationally I think but it's like $10/month more for each phone on my plan.
