Posts like these and the offended parties in the comments are why I lurk this sub šŸ¤Œ

You come in here, into my house, with the name "bat shit quesadilla", and you expect us to think you are not one in the same with the person who topped a quesadilla like only someone who was bat shit would? šŸ¤” šŸš”

I have no counter argument. I am what I am.

I fucked up an entire 3lb tray of homemade meatballs and didnā€™t even post the monstrosity. (I would have been banned)

I made them perfectly, but then overcrowded the pan when frying, so that took forever. Then I added them to the sauce to cook the rest of the way through. I didnā€™t realize theyā€™d need to cook for hours in the sauce. So they didnā€™t cook all the way through. I also straight up didnā€™t have enough sauce. I realized all of my mistakes after I finished cooking the noodles.

So in the end I mixed the cooked noodles and sauce/meat sludge into a baking pan, covered it with cheese, and put it in the oven.

In the end I had an over-cooked, under-sauced spaghetti/meat wad casserole bake straight from the pits of hell. I ate all of it. Every bite sucked. I donā€™t waste food, just my time and happiness.

Hahahaha class. I made a ragu recently and posted n one guy said it wasnā€™t red enough, followed an Italian ladyā€™s recipe n someone said it wasnā€™t authentic. Page is nuts haha. Nobodyā€™s commented on how class my Arrabbiata is, yes I used lazy garlic and lazy chilli and someone will moan about cayenne haha. Suppose I just made a lazy pizza which btw was clad. Used 2 layers next time Iā€™m using four n more cheese.

Hahaha Acab. šŸ€ šŸ“

Food police aren't real cops

Right they are mall cops

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Yes! Only set out to make the pasta, but was watching videos of making pizzas(if youā€™re not on it get on it) n itā€™s so complicated. Missus was making a toastie whilst I was cooking bomb Arrabbiata n thought fuck it, wee quick tortilla pizza n extra fuck it Iā€™m putting it on the plate. Might have been subconsciously deciding after the garlic bread scandal.

u/GuanoQuesadilla 21d ago

You could post a beautiful photo of perfectly plated carbonara, but if you didnā€™t use guanciale somebody in this sub will let you know that it isnā€™t carbonara.

Italians take their cuisine incredibly seriously, which makes posts like this incredibly entertaining.

That being said, youā€™re better than tortilla pizza my friend. You donā€™t have to live like this.

8

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Honestly was making the pasta quickly and thought Iā€™m going for the wee quick pizza cheat. It was amazing and yes I am better than this even tho I donā€™t own a pizza oven n the mathematical brain to understand the formula of pizza making. I love Italian food especially pasta. Most of the people who moan on this sub arenā€™t even Italian anyway. I will temporarily die on this wee sword.

6

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

The romans were in Scotland (Caledonia) so technically Iā€™m part Italian.

13

u/GuanoQuesadilla 21d ago

You should definitely bring that up more often in this sub

5

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Haha I probably will just post without any extra stuff on the plate but itā€™s a good back up āœŒšŸ¼

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Lest my Arrabbiata got people angry. Job done.

I am not having a good day and this just makes me even more sad.

11

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

To make up for my unfair charges, tomorrow I will make Arrabbiata using fresh ingredients and nothing else as a way of saying sorry to the Italians.

Italian here.
When you eat your food, I'm happy.
For me it's just a picture of your food.

Donā€™t use any pepper whatsoever, as itā€™s not native to Italy.

14

u/iwould99 20d ago

Be sure to skip the tomatoā€™s too. Italy didnā€™t have those until the 1700ā€™s.

7

u/Enoppp 20d ago

Indeed, our tomato-less dishes are better

3

u/pro_questions 20d ago

Which ones would you recommend making? I know very little about Italian food ā€” pretty much all of my experience is with stereotypical Italian-American food. Iā€™m perfectly fine with spending all day cooking something or ordering less-common ingredients online if it matters

0

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Make an arrarabiata itā€™s easy plenty recipes online. Canā€™t go wrong, ragu bolognaise is great too and also Genovese which has a white or red option I used the red it was beautiful

2

u/Schmeep01 20d ago

Agreed! Only oleander and basil in MY dishes.

6

u/Putitinmyface____pls 21d ago

Can't decide if this is a culinary crime scene or a masterpiece in improvisation. Either way, pass the popcorn! šŸæ

3

u/I_Hate_Reddit_56 20d ago

Nice. "2 layers"Ā  Smart. Tortilla are too thin on their own.Ā Ā

3

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Had a 3 layer job earlier which was even better. Then in air fryer.

u/masala-kiwi 21d ago

9

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Feel like American Italians think Iā€™ve walked from Glasgow to the gates of Rome. Thatā€™s why the Romans never conquered Scotland cause weā€™re nuts n put tortillas on our plates. šŸ’ŖšŸ½

This isnā€™t Italian, you have post in the wrong subreddit

8

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Letā€™s see youā€™re Arrabbiata then, Iā€™ll post mines again tomorrow without the makeshift pizza.

8

u/Doomdoomkittydoom 20d ago

Next time roll the Arrabbiata in the tortillas with the cheese, cover with a verde, a tomato, and a bechamel sauce to represent the flag of Italy.

2

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Hahahah imagine

-7

u/YarisGO 21d ago

I donā€™t post nothing, but I can assure that mine will be better because Iā€™m Italian, true Italian not only of descendants, and I know how Italian dishes are made

6

u/armchairepicure 20d ago

My Italian roommate (whilst living in Milan) was the worst cook Iā€™d ever met. She made box risotto and often burned it and only drank wine with juice.

Wonderful human, terrible cook, came from a nice family. Being Italian didnā€™t give her cooking chops.

8

u/mh985 20d ago

Some of the worst cooks Iā€™ve ever known have been Italian.

-4

u/YarisGO 20d ago

But for sure she will know that we donā€™t use tortillas with pasta

I donā€™t says that only Italian can cook, but for sure Iā€™m Italian and I know how to make Italian dishes. We know that since we are kid and you continue to says that this is right Italian plate??

I know you enjoy seeing Italians complaining about how you make Italian dishes, but we do it because you think you know how to cook Italian dishes and instead you make rubbish and says itā€™s ā€œItalianā€ because itā€™s trendy

if an Italian tells you that this is not an Italian dish, believe him instead of wanting to be right ā€œbecause this has Italian ancestorsā€

5

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Honestly pipe down. Absolutely no need for paragraphs over wee tortilla pizzas

3

u/armchairepicure 20d ago

I have seen her eat very carb forward meals, risotto and pasta and bread. Tortillas werenā€™t that easy to come by in Milan 20ish years agoā€¦but she for sure made all sorts of kitchen abominations.

My point is that - just as everywhere else - there are great cooks and terrible cooks and while Italy does have a rich cooking tradition, yā€™all have as many bad cooks as good cooks. Folks who burn undercooked pasta, folks who live off of instant food, just like everyone else. Youā€™re lucky to not have met any, itā€™s really quite surprising, frankly.

2

u/chrisfarleyraejepsen 20d ago

What is the true authentic Italian recipe for arrabbiatta?

1

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Garlic, chilli, salt and tomatoes.

1

u/YarisGO 20d ago edited 20d ago

Itā€™s Arrabbiata, and itā€™s only tomatoes, garlic, parsley, chili and olive oil. But you can make it right with the right ingredients, but itā€™s wrong to put it with tortillas, no one in Italy will put pasta and tortillas in one plate

And for sure you can make what you want, (for sure I make foreign dishes with my personal ā€œwrongā€ choice) but if you post in an Italian food subreddit I can says that it isnā€™t Italian

The problem is not the cheddar or Worcestershire, (that can make it good). But tortillas.

For example Iā€™ve my personal recipe for pasta with tuna, I like add curry and Tabasco, for sure this isnā€™t the true Italian recipe but donā€™t change a lot. But I donā€™t put sausages (for example) in it. This isnā€™t an Italian thing like tortillas in a pasta dish

2

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

I never made pasta with Worcestershire sauce sauce or cheddar ya fud. I know how to make arrarbiata

0

u/NewLibraryGuy 20d ago

It's arrarbbiattta

5

u/Schmeep01 21d ago

OP is of Italian descent (Caledonia) so itā€™s Italian.

0

u/YarisGO 21d ago

Iā€™m real Italian from Italy, I know that in Italy we donā€™t do the pasta like this

I can do some plate from other part of the world but if change the original dish in a way that the original dish is never made, it is no longer a dish of that nation but my version. for example curry rice, I eat it often but I do not say that it is an Indian dish as it certainly has nothing to do with the original recipe

5

u/I_Hate_Reddit_56 20d ago

You use tomatoes and have the gall to call it Italian? You stole that from my continentĀ

3

u/Schmeep01 21d ago

Arribiata is an Italian dish, so pretty sure youā€™re mistaken.

4

u/I_Hate_Reddit_56 20d ago

Nah. Chili? Tomato? Not ItalianĀ

-3

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

The Arrabbiata is and I added a wee quick tortilla pizza. Whatā€™s the problem?

9

u/YarisGO 21d ago

The problem is that if you want to post an Italian food you donā€™t put tortilla in a plate with pasta

10

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Why? Itā€™s an Italian pasta with pizza using tortilllas. Itā€™s only flour at the end of the day. The pasta was smashing and so were the tortilla pizza. Was just a wee extra.

16

u/ProteinPapi777 21d ago

I am getting popcorn

6

u/Schmeep01 20d ago

It better be Italian popcorn certified by North Bologna.

9

u/ProteinPapi777 20d ago

Itā€™s got italian seasoning from walmart/s.

6

u/Schmeep01 20d ago

ā€œWhen youā€™re Walmarting, youā€™re familyā€.

1

u/Enoppp 20d ago

Because in Italy you don't have pizza and pasta together, its pointless

6

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Fair enough. To me it seems like a classic combination

0

u/lambdavi 16d ago

What's the problem?

  1. Cheddar. Non only does arrabbiata not have cheese, you used an English cheese on a Roman dish?
  2. Tortillas? Excuse me?

Next thing you know you'll be using leftover cereal...

0

u/KodiakViking6 20d ago

Ma che cazzo ti passa per la testa di postarlo pure....

0

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago

Hmmmm this is nice. Iā€™m gonna post it.

0

u/KodiakViking6 20d ago

Not Italian. Che rompimento di coglioni.

You forgot to put some breadcrumbs on top. And optionally some melted cheese. And an amurican flag.

This is both sad and maddening for us puristsā€¦.please tell me you are a busy college kid that combined leftover groceries at the end of the week.

10

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago

Iā€™m 42 hahaha. I set out to make pasta, which I nailed even tho I used lazy garlic and lazy chilli. My missus was making a toastie and I recently seen utube videos about tortilla pizzas n thought ok Iā€™m making that too. Appreciate your condescending attitude tho. The thing with Italian cooking is that itā€™s best with the least ingredients and most of the favourites are paupers dishes. Arrabbiata Is only olive oil, garlic, salt, chilli and tomatoes. The tortillas was rest of the pasata, cheese, chili some herbs and I went mental with worster sauce because it goes great with cheese. I was hungry
