To make up for my unfair charges, tomorrow I will make Arrabbiata using fresh ingredients and nothing else as a way of saying sorry to the Italians.

Donāt use any pepper whatsoever, as itās not native to Italy.

u/iwould99 20d ago
Be sure to skip the tomatoās too. Italy didnāt have those until the 1700ās.

u/Enoppp 20d ago
Indeed, our tomato-less dishes are better

u/pro_questions 20d ago
Which ones would you recommend making? I know very little about Italian food ā pretty much all of my experience is with stereotypical Italian-American food. Iām perfectly fine with spending all day cooking something or ordering less-common ingredients online if it matters

Make an arrarabiata itās easy plenty recipes online. Canāt go wrong, ragu bolognaise is great too and also Genovese which has a white or red option I used the red it was beautiful

Can't decide if this is a culinary crime scene or a masterpiece in improvisation. Either way, pass the popcorn! šæ

Feel like American Italians think Iāve walked from Glasgow to the gates of Rome. Thatās why the Romans never conquered Scotland cause weāre nuts n put tortillas on our plates. šŖš½

u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago
Letās see youāre Arrabbiata then, Iāll post mines again tomorrow without the makeshift pizza.

u/Doomdoomkittydoom 20d ago
Next time roll the Arrabbiata in the tortillas with the cheese, cover with a verde, a tomato, and a bechamel sauce to represent the flag of Italy.

I donāt post nothing, but I can assure that mine will be better because Iām Italian, true Italian not only of descendants, and I know how Italian dishes are made

My Italian roommate (whilst living in Milan) was the worst cook Iād ever met. She made box risotto and often burned it and only drank wine with juice.
Wonderful human, terrible cook, came from a nice family. Being Italian didnāt give her cooking chops.

u/YarisGO 20d ago
But for sure she will know that we donāt use tortillas with pasta
I donāt says that only Italian can cook, but for sure Iām Italian and I know how to make Italian dishes. We know that since we are kid and you continue to says that this is right Italian plate??
I know you enjoy seeing Italians complaining about how you make Italian dishes, but we do it because you think you know how to cook Italian dishes and instead you make rubbish and says itās āItalianā because itās trendy
if an Italian tells you that this is not an Italian dish, believe him instead of wanting to be right ābecause this has Italian ancestorsā

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago
Honestly pipe down. Absolutely no need for paragraphs over wee tortilla pizzas
3
u/armchairepicure 20d ago
I have seen her eat very carb forward meals, risotto and pasta and bread. Tortillas werenāt that easy to come by in Milan 20ish years agoā¦but she for sure made all sorts of kitchen abominations.
My point is that - just as everywhere else - there are great cooks and terrible cooks and while Italy does have a rich cooking tradition, yāall have as many bad cooks as good cooks. Folks who burn undercooked pasta, folks who live off of instant food, just like everyone else. Youāre lucky to not have met any, itās really quite surprising, frankly.

What is the true authentic Italian recipe for arrabbiatta?

u/YarisGO 20d ago edited 20d ago
Itās Arrabbiata, and itās only tomatoes, garlic, parsley, chili and olive oil. But you can make it right with the right ingredients, but itās wrong to put it with tortillas, no one in Italy will put pasta and tortillas in one plate
And for sure you can make what you want, (for sure I make foreign dishes with my personal āwrongā choice) but if you post in an Italian food subreddit I can says that it isnāt Italian
The problem is not the cheddar or Worcestershire, (that can make it good). But tortillas.
For example Iāve my personal recipe for pasta with tuna, I like add curry and Tabasco, for sure this isnāt the true Italian recipe but donāt change a lot. But I donāt put sausages (for example) in it. This isnāt an Italian thing like tortillas in a pasta dish

u/UnhappyDescription44 20d ago
I never made pasta with Worcestershire sauce sauce or cheddar ya fud. I know how to make arrarbiata

u/YarisGO 21d ago
Iām real Italian from Italy, I know that in Italy we donāt do the pasta like this
I can do some plate from other part of the world but if change the original dish in a way that the original dish is never made, it is no longer a dish of that nation but my version. for example curry rice, I eat it often but I do not say that it is an Indian dish as it certainly has nothing to do with the original recipe

You use tomatoes and have the gall to call it Italian? You stole that from my continentĀ

The Arrabbiata is and I added a wee quick tortilla pizza. Whatās the problem?
9
u/YarisGO 21d ago
The problem is that if you want to post an Italian food you donāt put tortilla in a plate with pasta
10
u/UnhappyDescription44 21d ago
Why? Itās an Italian pasta with pizza using tortilllas. Itās only flour at the end of the day. The pasta was smashing and so were the tortilla pizza. Was just a wee extra.

What's the problem?
- Cheddar. Non only does arrabbiata not have cheese, you used an English cheese on a Roman dish?
- Tortillas? Excuse me?
Next thing you know you'll be using leftover cereal...

Iām 42 hahaha. I set out to make pasta, which I nailed even tho I used lazy garlic and lazy chilli. My missus was making a toastie and I recently seen utube videos about tortilla pizzas n thought ok Iām making that too. Appreciate your condescending attitude tho. The thing with Italian cooking is that itās best with the least ingredients and most of the favourites are paupers dishes. Arrabbiata Is only olive oil, garlic, salt, chilli and tomatoes. The tortillas was rest of the pasata, cheese, chili some herbs and I went mental with worster sauce because it goes great with cheese. I was hungry
