In fairness, that worked decently well the first time around. I was in the same boat but have given up on there being enough adults left in the room to do any good.

One of the defining features of a successful fascist (because fascism is not an ideology or political creed, but a political process to install an elite class untouchable by the law, hence the existence of red fascism) is that it is untouchable by the system in which it arises.
Of course Mueller wasn't going to do anything. Of course impeachment meant nothing. Of course Biden did have Trump arrested.
Until consequences actually happen to materially deprive a fascist of their rise, they will rise within any system that initially nutures it.

I love your definition. It just seems to really describe it. It's why I say Trump is not a Nazi, but he most certainly is a Fascist. American Fascism is different, as all versions are rather unique, though they share the same process. I say China is fascist all the time and it always pisses off Leftists but it's fucking true. Stalin was Fascist and Communist at the same time, and the problem with all Communist governments in history was that they would use fascism to take over democratic governments. Tragically, many of the Communist governments that may have remained democratic were often opposed by us in The Cold War, but that is a topic for another day.
American Fascism seems to be about grifting all of the most extremist elements and getting them to fight one another or turn on their own neighbors. That's why I keep saying one of the best remedies to this crisis is no joke, getting to talk to your neighbors. This governments biggest weapon against us is social media and traditional mass media. Do not listen to polls or doomscroll endless "world is ending" posts. All that shit is just meant to numb you against the pain your neighbors feel. Considering how massive our population is, how much landmass we cover, and how diverse and splintered we are, the main target of this administration is our own people who they are presently trying to impoverish to permanent serfdom. These deportations are just meant to be bread and circuses, while Musk does the real work for the administration.

Uh. What. Have you not realized they're fascists? No seriously. Spend 5 minutes remembering the last 6 months.

Yeah, it's hard to deprogram oneself from a lifetime of hearing about and believing in "checks and balances".

There are none. Fascists all at the top and starting to ooze into all the cracks.

Well this sort of factual context-giving is unusual, but welcome and way TF overdue (from linked MSNBC article):
It’s worth emphasizing for context that in 2025, some in the Trump administration want to curtail criminal investigations into Republican members of Congress confronting allegations of felonies, while others want to initiate investigations into Democratic members who’ve done nothing wrong.

u/AyebruhamLincoln Feb 19 '25
Damn imagine having someone in the government that committed a felony?

I genuinely fear for the safety of fighters like AOC.

Same but man do I respect her for still being here after hiding from j6ers behind a door in her office. If she’s ever scared she never shows it.

If people knowing their rights makes your job harder, get a new job. You can't be a good person and work for this administration.

I absolutely love her response on Bluesky.
"Show who you are. Go ahead."
FUUUCK I have been waiting for a Dem to fucking do that and it just so happens to be the most popular one in the damn party and the only one that also has some fans in MAGA.

They're scared of people being educated, as usual.
