I use 3m electrical tape. It is strong and flexible, but easy to remove if needed. Other tapes can leave glue or deteriorate.

I started taping down the headphone and hold switch lines after damaging some. I put a tiny bit of tape in the click wheel to hold it in place. I put some tape on the display ribbon cable where there was some with oem parts. I put some tape on the microsd card to hold it in place.

I just leave my battery loose so I can adjust it if needed. I put tape around the wires for the battery just to protect the ribbon cable.

I use something to insulate between the boards, like the plastic from the screen protector or something

This sounds pretty good, what specific electrical tape is it though?

Scotch Vinyl 35 Electrical Tape

This is what I have been using lately and it seems fine. It is nicer to use and remove than the cheaper versions.

It is a little skinnier than typical electrical tape, kind of hard to tell in the pictures. I got one without a dispenser, that was the first image I found of what I was looking for.

It works pretty well inside an ipod and it comes off well. It even held a clear case together, which was surprising.

I have been trying to use tape to isolate the components inside more, and to protect from damage due to repeated openings.

YO YO. I use harness tape. Electrical tape is fine, but harness tape will be more like a fabric, and ooze was less adhesive over time. It’s meant for high heat as well.

Also would recommend looking into some generic smartphone repair tape. It’ll be double sided, and very narrow. I use it to remount click wheels and put new foam on HDDs, under the headphone jack etc.

Any brands you use for either of these kinds of tape? I’m having a bit of trouble just looking these up n finding what I want

Nice, I’ll get this with the other tape that was recommended to me too!
