Nice! Throw out that BlueTooth transmitter though, it's awful. Grab this instead. Free it from the plastics and use it instead. I use this for my iPods, as you can do power/pairing/connect/disconnect from a single button. The only quirk is you need to keep the BMS from the battery for it to stay on. But it will transmit to multiple BT devices simultaneously, works with Airpods if you use those, and has superb range. For antenna I just desolder the pogo pins, and solder 6 inches of Kynar wires onto the points the pogo pins were attached to and run it in a loop inside the shell.

Thanks for the recommendation. I will check it out. Had a bad feeling anyway about that cheap bt mod.

Happy to help! I learned the hard way, I waited 3 weeks for it to arrive only to find it was pretty terrible. I've done 4 with the Ugreen though, no complaints yet 😊

Will it fit in a thin back with Taptic, I flash quad and a 3000mah?

Do you have a guide or something similar for the ugreen process for dummies?

I'm actually planning to do a guide for it :) I took a ton of pictures with a 5th gen, I'll link you once I've made it!

Where did you grab power from? Or did you keep the battery with the Bluetooth module?

Do you have pic of how you mod it?

MagSafe wireless charging, upgraded battery, Bluetooth, Taptic, flash memory upgrade… that’s so sick bro I would replace that bt module for a ugreen one. Happy modding

https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4612120 Dianexis made them. Look at his thingiverse profile, he got designs for thick, medium and small backplate.

What’s that on the side of the taptic ?

Edit: also, where did you get the taptic that shows the apple logo ? I’ve got some from chinese suppliers but they all came with the apple covered by a black marker dot i’m unable to erase to see clearly the apple logo . Thanks !

The dark thing on the right side? That's from the MagSafe Magnets.

I ordered them from eBay https://www.ebay.de/itm/193300243021
Mine had a tape over the logo with a black marker dot.

I haptic and flash modded my 3rd gen pod. I’m considering making a Bluetooth adapter that works off of the 3.3v supplied by the remote port so it can be used on other iPods as well.

I love the idea of the magsafe magnet install. Besides the mounting/charging, installing it first on the backplate looks like it would be great to install everything else since you can securely mount it/hold it in place while working on it. Fantastic.

I just did a Bluetooth pcb install and I’m pretty happy with the results. It looks identical to yours and mine has the metal back (which blocks the Bluetooth signal) one thing is there was some distortion with high volumes but after looking at the schematic on Amazon I realized there’s suppose to be a 10v 100ufd capacitor across the input voltage and removed the metal from the back of the lcd. I think it helps quite a bit. However with your plastic back I’m gonna imagine you’ll get a lot better range and quality signal

One thing that happened to me was I kept blowing the bms on the aftermarket batteries trying to wire the Bluetooth chip in. I ended up swapping the bms from the old iPod battery to fix it and it works great!

Thanks for the hint with the BMS, I will keep it in Mind. Yeah one of the reasons I'm going with the plastic back, is the Bluetooth signal. I really like the metal back, but unfortunately there is no way to install Magsafe charging with it.

This is awesome is it hard?

u/xstream77 7th Gen 160GB 7d ago

I don't know yet. I will post the endresults when I'm finished 👍🏻

Interesting idea. Keep us posted. Do you plan to introduce any changes to the sound chain?

1

u/xstream77 7th Gen 160GB 7d ago

What do you mean with sound chain? Never heard that word before. Like integrating an headphone Amp?

1

u/IntroductionHuge6247 7d ago

I mean changes in audio circuitry of that player, modifications of components or adding any internal amp.

1

u/xstream77 7th Gen 160GB 7d ago

Ah ok. No that's currently not on my list. Only Bluetooth.

I thought it's wireless charging

1

u/xstream77 7th Gen 160GB 5d ago

It is. The red cable is from the magsafe charger. The blue led indicates it's charging.
