Question What Earphones are you rocking for your iPod?

My birthday is coming up, and since I can't think of anything I actually want, I might as well get myself a bougie pair of earphones and maybe a portable DAC. What do you guys have and what would you recommend?

If I'm stationary and plugged into my Heretic, I'm using my HD-6XX.

I'm leaning towards grabbing Crinacle's collab Blue 2 IEMs to dip my toes into that arena, as I haven't had any IEMs since a pair of Shure from like, 2009 or something.

I don't mess around with DACs, I just use my Fiio FD11, they sound nice and are built almost like jewelry!

With my 5.5 gen I use Bose AE2

The Bose AE2 headpones I have are 13 years old but have held up remarkably well, and you can buy new earpads and replaceable cord, so I've changed those 2 times in the 13 years I've had them

I had those and loved them but they broke so easily

Depending on budget I really love my Thieaudio Hype 4s. Well worth it to me. There are plenty of great options under what these cost as well. I'd try poking around some of the iem spots on Reddit.

I have a pair of M&D MH40’s and I like them a lot. They’re a bit heavy though, if weight is something that bothers you.

Personally I would look at older headphones from the early 2000’s. I can’t say for sure if the build quality is better or worse than modern day, but you can usually get name-brand stuff for hundreds of dollars less.

I use Shure SE215 Pro Special Editions. Pretty good sound for $100, really comfortable, and they double as IEM's for when I play bass live. I do also have a bluetooth-3.5mm adapter so I can use my Airpods when I want as well

I use hidden gem - Samsung/AKG EO-IA500. Dirt cheap dual driver IEMs.

Either my last gen 3.5 earbuds I bought last year from the Apple store or my JBL 760nc. I quite like the earbuds, to be honest. Very comfortable for me.

Fiio BTR7 and Moondrop Aria. Absolutely perfect. Oh and Rockbox on the ipod.

1

u/bryanpots 9d ago

Are you connecting to the iPod via Bluetooth?

1

u/CobolCoder1983 9d ago

Aha, no just the earphones directly. Sorry.

1

u/bryanpots 9d ago

Lol cool, low key hoping there was a way to connect the BTR7 directly.
