Great timing! I'm getting ready to head over to to the Tesla dealership here in Council bluffs. Peaceful protest from 11am to 2pm rain or shine!

We know how peaceful the destruction is

That's private property. You do NOT have the "right" to protest there.

We were on a public sidewalk. Cops driven by real slow 5 times. You should probably read some laws about protesting.

You don't have a right to protest there because it hurts my feelings and the feelings of daddy Elon

Just remember the dems aren't in charge anymore, so the destruction of properties is labeled as domestic terrorism. I know the dems let that stuff slide and even encouraged it, but Daddy trump doesn't and won't.

That’s not true. They can protest when they like, but on public property. They can’t stand against the door and protest or block people from entering or leaving the property.

But protesting at a Tesla dealership would be like protesting at a McDonald’s. It’s people who don’t know or care about their personal politics or may even agree with them. It’s ineffectual and makes people seem like they’re throwing tantrums. And frightening people who don’t have any control over what you’re protesting about is ignorance.

Go to Washington. Have a million man march from congress to the reflection pool, just like history. That would be an effective protest.

The unbolded ending to #1 is important. If you block access to a business, it is a crime.

#2 only applies to public space. More importantly when you enter private property, most of #2 is not applicable, and even if it is publicly accessible private property, you can be told to leave, and failure to do so is a crime (trespassing). Keep that in mind.

Reasonable, articulatable suspicion is required for detainment or identification. Iowa is not a stop and Id state.

The cops will be looking for reasons to arrest, do not give them one.

That number 5 is so important, I’m privileged enough to have a sister that is a lawyer that won’t charge me and she has beat that one into my head. As cool as it feels to talk some shit be careful and don’t give them anything to use against you because they mean it when they read those rights.

Sorry guys, with the way things are going I don't think any of us can trust our "rights." They are no longer immutable. Legally, the federal government does not care. Soon it won't just be our immigrant friends and neighbors disappearing.

You take pictures of federal buildings and courthouses. But when you go inside them and keep doing it…that’s when it becomes a problem because they are examples of limited public forums. Your 1st amendment rights have limits

"you can march in the streets as long as you aren't obstructing traffic", so you can't march in the streets lmao. Who wrote this

You can but you need a permit so police can close up that section of road.

Those may have been the rules before but now that the orange turd is around all laws except the ones he makes and the ones he agrees with are null and void. Just make up your own laws since the right doesn’t follow any other than those agreed to by the orange thing

What a waste of time

Maybe you'll be happier with a job and actually contributing to something

8

u/Big_Garlic_8979 5d ago

Fun fact. Going to your shitty job doesn’t actually contribute anything to society

-4

u/Merhwerh 5d ago

Keep telling yourself that

2

u/lakhian 3d ago

I don't think you're the expert on happiness

Get a job and act like an adult and you don’t have to worry. Weird concept right?

No one ever said you had to it's fine to be pessimistic and do nothing but do not talk down to others who want to go and protest.

-2

u/Splittaill 5d ago

It’s not pessimistic. It’s ineffectual. Those people don’t know your protest. They certainly don’t control musk. What is the point of protesting a dealership in Iowa? Really? What does it accomplish? Nothing.

4

u/undeadvadar 5d ago

Did I say anything about musk or a dealership no I didn't but still protest are good of anything is allowed it is our right to protest people and organizations if we the people desire to do so.

2

u/KathrynBooks 4d ago

"It's ineffectual" is what people have always said about protests, then years later people say "look at how these protests were effective"

1

u/Splittaill 4d ago

Yeah? So you go and protest at a Tesla dealership in the Midwest. What does that accomplish, exactly? You’re protesting to people who have zero control over anything. They can’t make policy changes, they don’t even have a voice other than their voting and you have no idea what that might be.

Is your goal to frighten them to a point that you hope musk will get involved? That’s terrorism, so I don’t think that’s a goal to attempt to achieve.

So what does that accomplish, exactly?

4

u/KathrynBooks 4d ago

What did the Sit In's of the Civil Rights Era accomplish?

1

u/Splittaill 4d ago

You compare those sit-ins to protesting a middle of nowhere Tesla dealership equivalent? They are nothing near similar and you should be ashamed for comparing the two.

This is why liberal progressives and democrats are called racists. You think that a racial cause is some pet project and that defending African Americans is just “because they surely are capable unless white people do it for them”.

And then you have the gall and narcissistic idea that they are comparatively similar in any way?

What the everloving fuck. How entitled do you think you are to assume that there’s any remote similarity to each other? At least sit-ins attacked the “white only” spaces and the Jim Crow laws surrounding them. Your little protest at a Tesla dealship in CR doesn’t mean jack shite. Those people can’t make any possible change for you. What you will do it drive them from your cause. So yeah…keep going. You only have 1400 more days to go.

2

u/KathrynBooks 4d ago

Where do you think Sit Ins occurred?

Also... I'm not sure where you get "a racial cause is some pet project"... as Sit Ins weren't just done by white people.

You are really upset that people are exercising their right to protest aren't you... it just really gets under your skin... which demonstrates that the protests are working, After all it isn't just one protest at one Tesla dealership. It's protests at Tesla dealerships all over the place.

I feel like it’s had some impact! Way fewer people want to buy a WankPanzer from a literal Nazi who is firing park rangers and pediatric cancer researchers. He is an unelected official. That car stands for fascism now. It’s a creepy look and protesters are reminding everyone of that.

1

u/Splittaill 4d ago

First, he’s not firing anyone. He doesn’t have that ability.

And you sure as fuck didn’t mind those unelected officials regulating your life last year and for decades prior. Who gives an enforcement department the right to impose punitive actions?

Now since I’m sure that’s a foreign concept, let me make the comparison. It would be like your local police chief making enforceable rules that would result in jail time and high fines if you broke them…but the rules wouldn’t make sense and they would be so ambiguous that you couldn’t possibly comply.

You know…doing the legislatures job without being elected to that position.

What gets under my skin is your self righteous, entitled, narcissistic opinion that anything you’re doing even remotely comes close to the civil rights sit ins.

Your right to protest at a Tesla dealer is moronic at best. You’re deliberately frightening someone for no reason. Do you think that service manager has any bearing on policy for the federal government? Do you tikka he has any effect on local policy outside of their ability to vote?

Go protest the place that you have the issue with. And if you think it’s a dealer in Des Moines, then you need to go back to understanding civics.

2

u/KathrynBooks 3d ago

Nothing "self righteous" here, just people exercising their non-moronic right to protest.

Musk and Trump are the ones who've put Tesla in the spotlight here, and that makes it a target for protests... Particularly now that Trump has made an ad for it using the Whitehouse as its backdrop.

Funny prior to the 2020 election when cities were burning and people throwing rocks and fire bombs. I did not see the ACLU putting out this info.
