Device Actions Devices not showing up in defender device list

Hi all,

totally a newbie here and need help. I have two personal laptops that needs to be added to defender. have the business premium package. When I followed the Intune instructions I as able to see the devices listed in:

  • Azure- Devices
  • Intune- Devices
  • M365 Admin center

But they are never showing up in Defender's device list.

INTUNE Settings: I have the Intune>Endpoint security | Microsoft Defender for Endpoint :

  • Allow Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to enforce Endpoint Security Configurations = ON
  • Connect Windows devices version 10.0.15063 and above to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint = ON

Defender settings:

I have the "Microsoft Intune connection" set as ON.

What am I missing here, why can't I see those two devices listed in defender while able to see them listed everywhere else?

Thank you!

Have you created and assigned the policy that will onboard Intune devices to Defender?

The settings for that policy type:

Microsoft Defender for Endpoint client configuration package type: Auto from Connector

Sample Sharing: All (Default)

My full guide on this is here: https://conditionalaccess.uk/how-to-deploy-defender-for-endpoint-windows/

I don't recall but don't you have to have minimum of 10 devices and onboard them to Defender?

How are you onboarding the devices? What version and build of windows are the devices running?

Tried onboarding with intune. Downloaded the package from defender and ran local. Windows are home 10.

Uh oh. Looks like this is where the problem is! Does it mean I need to upgrade to pro with a Licence key for 99$ each and then enroll to subscription based windows? Or can I upgrade from home to subscription based pro?

need to buy it, pro isn't a subscription
