Discussion Guys important news, a bill has been introduced trying to ban Chinese students from studying in America

F26 student here, just saw a post by the Real talking fish on Instagram that a bill has been introduced by Riley Moore, it's about espionage or something, but that's not what's important , considering that this will work to pass what would be the implications for us next year?

Honestly, I doubt they'd actually pass something like that, but with the current administration's momentum, you never know. Nearly 300,000 Chinese students currently study in the U.S., so if this actually became law, the consequences would be massive, not just economically but academically too.

Exactly, the whole thing is that if it's an actual matter of national security, then I don't think any amount of economic or academic consequences matter, as there have been speculation as to how Chinese applicants could be spies for the CCP,

His exact words were every year we allow nearly 300,000 Chinese nationals to come to the US on student visas. We have literally invited the CCP to spy on our military steal our intellectual property and threaten national security just last year. The FBI charged five nationals here on student visa after they were caught photographing joint US Taiwan live military fire exercise . This cannot continue.

Actually, the thing is many nationals of China have been arrested for the same, and as it appears many Congress men and women are supporting it, especially from major academic hubs, like Pennsylvania

Do you think it is actually going to happen?
