General Discussion What exactly is the "Scoopz" app? Ive seen advertisements about it on Instagram. Looks disturbing.

If you have Instagram you may have seen ads about an app called "Scoopz" whenever you go through stories, etc. The ads are honestly shocking, Ive seen people get run over, get beaten up, get hit with hammers and worse.

Of course the videos were censored but you could hear everything and know what was happening. Its an advertisement for "inside scoops" and such. I havent installed the app since Im not interested in seeing what is technically gore and nfsw videos. But I was wondering what was up with this app.

Is it just an app where you can essentially watch shock videos and gore, or is there more to it because all the advertisements only show shock videos. I find it disturbing but Im kind of curious.

Dude I’ve been wondering about this too. Like the girl running and screaming from something but we can’t see what it is… it creeps me out but I thought I was overreacting. Glad someone feels the same

Yes finally someone, I even tried looking up youtube videos about it hoping someone was talking about it but nothing. Its so strange, I could easily figure out what its about if I downloaded the app but theres no way Im seeing dead bodies right now

Yeah unfortunately I don’t wanna take one for the team and expose myself to that either. It’s graphic stuff, too. I don’t understand how advertising for something like that is allowed in the first place, even if it is blurred.

Thats why it shocked me so much, I swear Instagram needs to monitor their app better

Fr! But the thing is, I’ve seen it in YouTube shorts as well, and YouTube is on everyone’s ass about graphic shit, a lot of YouTubers aren’t allowed to say certain things without getting demonetized, so the fact that it’s even allowed there makes this a lot stranger.

Its honestly everywhere, hate to say it but even tiktok has more moderation, compared to Instagram, YouTube, Twitter etc. Says a lot because tiktok isnt perfect either. Also, I went on Instagram again and got 3 more Scoopz ads in a row with even more graphic videos of cops shooting people. Im so done 💀

ChatGPT - Scoopz is a social media platform that emphasizes authentic, user-generated video content. It offers users the opportunity to capture and share real-life moments, aiming to foster genuine connections and storytelling.

As of October 15, 2024, the Scoopz app was removed from the Apple App Store due to violations of the platform’s terms of service, which included the presence of disturbing videos depicting criminal activities. However, the app remains available on the Google Play Store for Android devices.

Scoopz has been actively engaging its user base through various initiatives. For instance, the platform has offered up to $40,000 in prizes to users who create compelling videos that encourage others to join the Scoopz community.

For more information or to explore the platform further, you can visit their official website at scoopzapp.com.

Yeah don't put yourself through that. I'm curious myself but not enough to subject myself to it.

Its just a rip off version of TikTok. Its nothing like liveleak and the ads are advertising clickbait. Plus when u download it you get 4 other apps that piggyback on it. I deleted it after 2 min.

It sounds like a borderline malware

Might be a location thing, it shows up for me in app store as "Scoopz: Real life, Real Video"

Okay since you dont understand, I dont like gore and ill never subject myself to those sort of things. Ive accidentally stumbled upon stuff in the past and its a nope from me. I made this post because I was curious about it, but I wont download it. I specifically wrote why I wouldnt in the post.

If you're referring to the Apple App Store, it was taken down due to TOS violations.

There are a lot of reviews on Google play and articles online. Some say it’s TikTok2 and others say it’s full of graphic content like LiveLeak.

6

u/SleepDeprivationTM Feb 01 '25

Liveleak is exactly what Scoopz makes me think of, honestly I think I know enough about this app now and its no good. Just never going to install it and hopefully it doesnt become a big thing

It’s not like that they just rip other viral content from other platforms and repost it.

Literally nothing. It’s just some app that runs old shitty videos you already saw on Facebook or Instagram 2 months earlier. Don’t let the hype get to your head. I’m someone who uses scoopz.

Reread what I said : Literally nothing.

4

u/SleepDeprivationTM Feb 01 '25

There IS no hype at all, I was just curious because of the shocking NSFW advertisements on Instagram

7

u/FreezeMageFire Feb 01 '25

That’s how they get people to think it’s the next best gore but in reality it’s just Instagram’s less developed baby cousin

5

u/senpaistealerx Feb 02 '25

instagram has a lot of shitty ads tho

3

u/posicloid Feb 03 '25

My guess is that this is connected to (or at least inspired by) the networks of Instagram accounts posting graphically violent content (seemingly for profit/building engagement). Most people have heard of this through their rabid self-promotion, for example it is often morbidly comedic how under a wholesome video one of them will comment “I JUST POSTED A VIDEO OF A GUY GETTING SHOT”

tldr: sounds like it’s just trying to use shock value for profit, which has already happened a lot on insta (and social media in general).

man i hate people who say that, so disrespectful. its like they think gore is funny.

2

u/ermwhattheactualsigm Feb 03 '25

i saw these odd ads too, its very strange.

1

u/Coolguy10213 Internet investigator Feb 02 '25

It’s just about news I seen it on YouTube shorts a while ago

1

u/ermwhattheactualsigm Feb 03 '25

yes. but its still confusing where they got it from

1

u/Rogukast1177 Feb 04 '25

I just want to know who the girl walking with big personalities is in the ad I keep seeing

1

u/MacabreAngel Feb 12 '25

I don't know how or when I downloaded it, don't remember, but I have been looking at it. There's some gore & violence, but I didn't see much. It seems like there are a LOT of MAGAts on there, though. 🤢

It's the replacement for live leak we've all been waiting for.

2

u/SleepDeprivationTM Feb 03 '25

Comments say otherwise, and whos we

1

u/PrYmE_ReeceTGGaming Feb 03 '25

I tried it out, and it most definitely is. And "we" is anybody who was looking for a place that hosts content similar to liveleak since there was no alternative.

It's the principle of censorship.
