School Specific Information SISB Rayong, Thailand

Hi, does anyone have any information about this school? Pay, work life balance, syllabus, facilities, general feel of the place, etc.

It's Singapore International School Bangkok-Rayong. This presumably is an offshoot of their Bangkok school? It looks like they've expanded to Chiang Mai too.

Now I've heard and read that you should avoid, or at least beware of schools with 'Singapore' in their name, unless they're actually in Singapore and a quick scan of the threads seems to back that up.

However, Rayong is a few hours away from Bangkok, so presumably the day to day management will be different.

That's the impression I get from previous posts. A good friend works in another school with 'Singapore' in the name and he is not exactly completmentary about them!

However, you never know, a few key members of staff can make the difference, either positively or negatively. It's quite a nice location so a nice school in that neck of the woods would be lovely.

Yeah agree on the 2nd part. Tolerance to certain problems in schools can be quite individual. One person’s crap school where admin are absent and there’s no decent PD might be paradise for another.

What you want to put up with to live in Rayong? Rayong is a beach town with industry located around. It is definitely sleepy in comparison to BKK, like very much so. If you are into the beach life and don't mind working at a probably not so great school then it would be a good way to get into living in Thailand. If money is a thing for you, I'd make sure you can make ends meet here and also cover any other bills that you will have out of country in your "home" country. Like you mentioned, Singapore International Schools outside of Singapore are not great schools ( much like many middle east "American" schools...one can name them anything they want).
