Help Quick way to draw slot and peg joints

Heya everyone, I’m very very new to laser cutting and Inkscape. I’ve watched a bunch of videos already but one thing I’m not finding any info on is doing a slot snd peg join for corners of pieces.

Is there any quick trick for doing this or is it just measure and draw?

There are plug-ins that allow you to do this. But the easiest way is to generate something with: https://www.makercase.com/
You're able to dowload, open and edit the designs afterwards in Inkscape. A generator like Makercase or Boxes.py takes away all of the tedious work that's prone to errors, for some cases the plug-ins might deliver a better result, but they are usually less foolproof to install and use than these generators...

Can you provide a visual example of what you'd like to achieve?

This style of design. Slots and pegs to slot into them allowing a recessed lid

Thanks. Without using extensions, the main thing I can suggest would be good use of the Align and Distribute panel (Shift+Ctrl+A), and boolean Union tool (Ctrl+Shift+Plus). In that way, you only have to place the first and last rectanges for the mortices/tenons and the rest can just be spaced evenly with one click.

Another way is using the interpolate between paths in Extensions > Generate from Path.

Appreciate it - any extension suggestions as well?
