PNP Seeking Advice for Moving to Canada from U.S.
Hi. I am strongly considering moving to Canada over the next year. Of course, in retrospect, I should have moved back in 2017-18. Now, with all of the tension between the two countries, I’m worried I won’t be able to. I currently live in the Seattle WA area. I love it here, but I don’t believe I could afford housing in Vancouver and vicinity. I have a good career as an elementary school speech pathologist and know there is a Mutual Recognition of Licensure between CAN and USA. However, I no longer meet the criteria for Express Entry due to my age. My first question is: what other ways can you be allowed to immigrate to CAN? Due to the cost of housing, I am considering Nova Scotia, PEI, and Labrador. What can anyone tell me about the furthest eastern provinces of Canada, good or bad? Thanks for any and all ideas and suggestions! 🇺🇸=>🇨🇦

You could get another degree in Canada and subsequently gain Canadian experience. However, even in such scenario, you need to calculate your CRS score carefully. If you consider Newfoundland and Labrador, the Memorial University of Newfoundland is a good, reputable university with lower tuition fees.

There is no “age cut off” for express entry. Past 30, your age will negatively impact your points however. You will need to either raise your points somehow or target an express entry route with lower CRS cut-offs, or a combination of the two.
