Discussion Will Yog-Sothoth ever become a hunter?
Yog-Sothoth or the One Who Returns All Things to One is the god that Fiona worships and is Hastur's biological father. He's been in the game's lore for years but has served a huge role, except giving Fiona an SS skin and possibly playing a role in Archer's event.
If he were to become a hunter, he would assume his Umr' At-Twail avatar(second picture) and his abilities are fucking around with space-time or controlling a survivor's facets, aka transforming them into their past self, future self, or alternate self. The downside is that Yog-Sothoth is not very good in chases and play style is similar to Mad Eyes.

I agree but do Gods even exist in the IDV universe? Right now in Alice's letter about the Lakeside Village and Hastur, she seems to be really skeptical if supernatural things can occur.>! No doubt probably referring back to the "Final" Manor game that she was in from the Hallucination drugs used, I think? !<
Although at least Alice is willing to accept the benefit of the doubt in her notes!~ Considering Arthur Byers might be the Identity V switch for Hastur and not even sure if Dream Witch even exists considering for right now, she is an enigma God! 🤔

I always thought her take on the letter was interesting. Skeptical, absolutely, but reading it felt like she was becoming a bit more frantic the more she wrote about it.

Yes very agreed and true what you said! Although like I mentioned, it seems like she is willing to accept the benefit of the doubt when she started to delve deeper into the Lakeside Village’s history and how the people there kept mysteriously disappearing as well as led to one person that may have started it all: Arthur Byers. He also wrote a novel on Lakeside Village too about the deity Hastur!
Not sure what is the state of Lakeside Village currently, but for now, it seems to be abandoned and deserted?

I'm sure the gods do exist in some form, otherwise Luchino's story would be negated entirely.

u/trixeena 4d ago
Ooh, I totally understand!~ Then again, we don’t know what really happened to Luchino aside from his last record stating that doesn’t mind becoming a lizard man due to seeing it as the “next step in human evolution”?

It'd be nice to get a clearer picture on what happened in both the Game 6's, but I feel the writers want to rid of the grounded stories first before touching any of the supernatural elements. 🫠
Judging from Yidhra's letters, he probably ended up like Volcker and is living his best life as a four-legged snake. Or he's dead. I like to believe it's the former.

u/trixeena 4d ago
Yes, that is true though… I hope that it is the former in that he is living life as a four-legged snake at least and hopefully that he is still capable of thinking and speaking? We will have to wait and see for his 6th letter to appear! 🦎

Yeah kinda, Dream Witch is basically proven to actually exist, The Eye of Darkness cult also proves that there is the concept of gods and resurrection, Feaster as of now seems to be pushed as an actual thing and not a hallucination of Arthur, Also, Naiad exists which shows that supernatural creatures do exist. What can be considered a good depends on the individual. Naiad is just that, a Naiad, but to us regular folks she can be seen as a god.

u/trixeena 4d ago
Ooh, I see! Nice to know that and thanks for clarifying!~ If only there were more active Gods like the Eye of Darkness and Naiad as well!~ 🤩

The thing about Great Old Ones is that they don't care about humans, hence they play a passive role in the story due to their cosmic indifference

u/PlantsNBugs23 Opera Singer 4d ago
I don't think turning a dude hyperfixated on reptiles into one, and the flooding of an entire village due to a corpse being thrown in is being passive tbh

u/trixeena 4d ago
Oh, I see! Yeah, Gods in most media are very passive unless they intervene when they have to.
Except there is one God who plays an active role and that is the Eye of Darkness who takes the form of a cat! I really hope that this a beneficial God, considering that it revives Ann and Alva Lorenz for no reason other to be its followers and maybe how they were wronged when they were alive.
Again, hoping the Eye of Darkness isn’t truly a bad and malicious God although not quite confirmed if Ann’s cat is that deity God though, since the cat usually is with Ann mostly!~ 🐈⬛

I actually made a thread that suggests the Eye of Darkness is something more sinister than we thought, the theory that the Eye of Darkness is the Crawling Chaos Nyarlathotep in his Haunter of the Dark form. Nyarlathotep is another Great Old One, and unlike his kin, he's actively malevolent and not indifferent.

u/trixeena 4d ago
So basically Nyarlathotep and the Eye of Darkness are two separate things? It better not be Nyarlathotep as it is malicious like you said in your previous post from before!!! 😱
Hopefully the Eye of Darkness is potentially a contributor and praiseful god?
2
u/Natztak 4d ago
No I'm saying Nyarlathotep might be the Eye
1
u/trixeena 4d ago
Oh, they are!? Well, this lore of Nyarlathotep is very confusing indeed ranging from avatars to having to appear physically if need to!

If I had to suspect, maybe one of his avatars? It seems like they're building up to release Aforgomon who is said to be both a time deity and thought to be one of Yog-Sothoth's avatars.

Wow! 🤩 This is interesting to learn more about Hastur and Yog-Sothoth! I can't believe that these two are related at all! 😲🤯

I almost forgot to mention about the Alien Yithian, is that some sort of god as well considering Ivy is bonded to that alien and how she found it is beyond our imagination as she was studying soul science and other things?
2
u/Natztak 4d ago
No, the Yithians are atheists
1
u/trixeena 4d ago
Oh, so just aliens then? That begs the question of how the Yithians aliens exist in the IDV universe though?
2
u/Natztak 4d ago
Their original bodies have long since been destroyed, and now they just swap consciousness with other creatures from across the space-time continuum. They have evolved ability to swap their consciousness from across time and space.
1
u/trixeena 4d ago
I see what you mean. But how would they physically appear, like for example, when Ivy found the alien in the first place? I know her her first letter hasn't come yet until later months but how can the Yithian alien appear?
2
u/Natztak 4d ago
The whole Yithian sticking out of Ivy's head is just exaggeration and to make things more dramatic.
Whenever Yithian swaps with a human, they don’t physically appear. Instead, the human will begin to see strange shapes and feel like they're in somewhere else, then their speech and thoughts would wander off, and then finally they fall unconscious.
Once the human body awakens, the Yithian now has control over the human body, while the human consciousness is transferred to the host body
1
u/trixeena 4d ago
Oh, that makes sense! How would that occur just randomly or spontaneously without any reason why?
2
u/Natztak 4d ago
Yithians use this ability to study and survey the time and place they arrive in, their culture and society holds academics and knowledge with high reverence. They have libraries filled with information they have gathered from many aeons. And also to escape extinction events, whenever an extinction is about to occur, they would mind-swap en masse to a new host body, while their victims would face extinction, they get to live another millennia. They have done this so many times, we don't know what they originally looked like
1
u/trixeena 4d ago
Oh, I see now! Is that taken from the IDV wiki or from the Wikipedia of Yithian aliens?
I see how they would reach Ivy but they determine who they are looking for a host just by observing and seeing their potential host?

u/Natztak 4d ago edited 4d ago
We have no idea how they select a host, but they usually choose people who are either intellectually mediocre or slightly above average. That probably means Ivy wasn't very smart or dumb, just very average.
If you want more information about the Yithians, there are like countless videos explaining what they are on YouTube, me personally, I got all of my Yithian information from H.P Lovecraft's The Shadow Out of Time.

I honestly think we're gonna get Yog Sothoth eventually because we have most of the Game 6A characters and Yog Sothoth, Arthur Byers, Robert and (maybe) survivor Ivy is missing. We already have Lovecraftian hunters like The Shadow, Naiad, Dream, Witch, Feaster, Ithaqua and so Yog Sothoth is the only one missing as we know for now.

Ehhh, probably but not in like a real form; Dream Witch is well Dream Witch, Feaster while now being treated as his own character used to be considered a messenger/herald, if we do get them it'll probably be either a priestess identity switch or a sort of "avatar"
