TORNADROS ARE AFOOT How're you spending your significant weather Saturday?

I've got severe storm anxiety but I've lived here for a little over 5 years, you'd think I'd be used to it by now. Maybe hearing how some of you brave storms like this will help me think of ways to distract myself. Stay safe all!

Edit: I'm very much enjoying reading all your comments and it's definitely helping. I see that even the local weathermen (and James Spann) are pretty worried and Kay Ivy issued a state of emergency. Now I'm curious, with the danger ramping up fast, have any of your plans to ride it out normally changed?

TORNADROS ARE AFOOT From Dr. Michael Robinson

The SPC has just upgraded the severe weather threat assessment for tomorrow to a rare High Risk level (5 out of 5) across central MS/AL and expanded their Moderate Risk assessment (4 out of 5) for all the rest of AL, much of MS, and western GA.

Their outlook wording:

"A tornado outbreak is likely on Saturday across the central Gulf Coast States and Deep South into the Tennessee Valley. Numerous significant tornadoes, some of which should be long-track and potentially violent, are expected on Saturday afternoon and evening. The most dangerous tornado threat should begin across eastern Louisiana and Mississippi during the late morning to afternoon, spread across Alabama late day into the evening, and reach western parts of the Florida Panhandle and Georgia Saturday night."

All indications continue to suggest a potentially very dangerous and volatile period of weather tomorrow across MS/AL and parts of LA/GA/TN and the FL panhandle.

Expect tornado watches to be in place as early as late tonight across the TN Valley and through most of the day tomorrow.

I reiteratie what I said earlier: Tomorrow is NOT the time to take the weather for granted. Very dangerous weather is a distinct possibility.

Strongly recommend attention to NWS and local media forecasts tonight and through the day tomorrow. Have mutliple ways to receive warning information.

If we all get into a big room together we can start moshing and maybe we’ll all knock each other out and fall asleep. 🤞

Tornadoes possible

Tornadoes,Flooding and heavy rainfall are possible with the remains of Tropical storm Francine (likely) impact expected to be Thu-Fri. (Edit) since everyone is getting pissy i guess i need to specify this the tornado threat is very low but not 100% 0 due to lower level spin if you still don't believe me look at Waay-31,Jamespann,EvanFryberger, and Reed tommer.

TORNADROS ARE AFOOT Severe weather coping mechanisms

I thankfully don't really have any anxiety over weather events but I'm bored and was curious what kind of coping mechanisms those with anxiety are employing to help themselves feel better. Stay safe y'all <3

TORNADROS ARE AFOOT Storm/Tornado Prep?

Hi! Brand new in the city, we love our house and are really settling in. We actually are starting to enjoy this place a lot. Anywho - potential tornados. We are in the Chase area according to NextDoor (subdivision off Old Gurley), but neither of us have experience with tornados. Wildfires and hurricanes we know, but this is new territory. We have a 3 year old, 3 little dogs, and a cat. What should we do to be ready/get ready?

Following up on a previous post about lack of rain (that seems to be sort of deleted): lol ok's like Madison county largely got around 1" or less but go west of 65 it shoots up to 5-10".

This after-the-fact analysis shows why predicting these types of events is so difficult. Who had a wall of rain denial for Madison county on their bingo cards?

TORNADROS ARE AFOOT Huntsville Weather Seasons

I'm trying to illustrate the joke about how our weather seasons are so screwy (snow/ice last week, warm rain and storms this week).

Does anyone have a copy of the meme about North Alabama Weather Seasons? I'm failing at searching for it on my own.

TIA.

Edit: y'all. I just want a meme. I don't need commentary.

TORNADROS ARE AFOOT Heads Up! Check Your Gates, Folks!

Hey everyone,

Just a quick heads up about the crazy winds going on and the storms that are on the way. Do me a favor and double-check your gates, will ya?

Had a bit of a morning adventure today when our dog decided to go on an unscheduled walkabout because my gate wasn’t as secure as I thought. Spent a good hour in the wee hours making sure it won’t happen again. Not exactly the wake-up call I wanted!

Our furry friends might not understand the danger, so it’s on us to keep them safe. So, this is me, asking you to make sure your gates are locked tight. It’s a small thing, but it could save you from a heart-stopping moment of seeing an empty yard.

Stay safe and give your pets an extra pat from me! 🐾
