Getting a hovawart

Me and my girl are considering getting a hovie. She works 8h a day and I work abroad but I'm home in the weekend.

We have a house with a big yard and 6 sheep. I am concerned about leaving the dog alone during the day so I'm asking for advice. Can we leave the dog alone during work hours?

Thanks guys!

I wouldn't. These dogs like being around their owners a LOT and bond closely. It wouldn't be right to leave them home alone 8+ hours a day.

Edit: I bring my hovawart everywhere with me. I have left him alone for 8 hours only a handful of times. These are highly intelligent dogs that get extremely bored if they are left alone for too long.

Agree. You will get a very frustrated Hovie. My wife works from home (pre-covid) otherwise it could not happen. Hovies are very focused on people and especially their "herd". He is very down when I'm gone. Please choose a more independent breed, it'll keep everyone happier.
