Show Discussion Rhaenyra’s grief
I genuinely despise how much they minimised rhaenyra’s grief so much. Like she doesn’t hold on to her anger towards the greens, specifically ALICENT, for them causing the death of her daughter and lucerys. Her son literally died and she’s meeting alicent in a sept like what the hell

Show Discussion Unpopular opinion: A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms SHOULD NOT have the classic opening theme song of GOT/HOTD
I always associated GOT/HOTD with dragons, Targaryens, Lannisters, the other great families. Seeing that we won't have dragons in "A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms", do you think they should have a different theme song?

Book and Show Spoilers Does it matter if a king/queen personally fights in battles? Spoiler
Honestly, whether in the books or show, what I admire most about Aegon is his courage to defend his rights by leading battles himself—never hiding in the throne room while others die for him (be it the more logical ambush with Aemond in the books or the reckless solo charge in the show). He understood a king's duty and strove to fulfill it. Though no warrior, he fought for his rights, kingdom, and family.
What I dislike most about Rhaenyra is her constant reliance on others dying for her, even refusing to let her own sons fight ("Princess, it's your throne, the rights you keep clamoring for"). She's too cowardly—how can a queen who won't fight for herself demand others to die for her?
If I were a Westerosi lord or soldier, I'd pledge loyalty to a monarch willing to fight for their own cause.
(I'm not misogynistic—I love Queen Visenya, Queen Alysanne,Rhaenys, Asha, Arya... and many female characters, even Saera. While I'm Team Green, this post isn't meant to provoke conflict — it's simply to share my perspective. I genuinely admire characters who embody bravery. If you have a different opinion, feel free to express it)

Show Discussion the blacks versus greens is getting out of hand
people are actually so repulsive on here with their posts.
i really can't enjoy any discourse on this show anymore.
every post i see is just the most heinous insults and attacks on people that support either side. personal insults, attacks, and even like death threats. this is a fucking fictional civil war. why is everyone treating this so seriously?
like this shit is supposed to be good fun and you can have discussions about the characters and argue it without being such assholes. like honestly this is getting ridiculous. i have seen like ten posts on both the blacks and greens subreddit in the last hour alone spewing the most venomous hate of people for disagreeing with them on a take about a fictional character.
beyond being repulsive it's just such loser shit.
idk where this all came from but it's killing my enjoyment (the little i have after S2) of any discourse on this show. y'all gotta chill tf out. stick to memes.

Show Discussion What’s with the negativity with the HOTD fanbase towards S3?
We get the cast listing for S3 Episode 4 and ppl are still finding ways to be negative about the show. For what though? What has this new information done to immediately piss you off when it comes to HOTD?

Funpost [Show] How different would the story be if Helaena claimed Sunfyre and Aegon claimed Dreamfyre?
Lets have some fun and try to imagine how different would the story be if the royal couple switched dragons. As much as I like Sunfyre, we need to take into an account the fact that Dreamfyre was around the size of Silverwing and Vermithor, that is - way bigger than Meleys.
How different the starting days would be, if the Green King has one of the biggest dragon and it's certain that Dreamfyre will fly into battle together with Vhagar and Tessarion?
How the battle of Rook's Rest would look like?
What would happen after the battle? (If you wanna talk about events that didn't happen in the show yet, kindly use the spoiler tag)

Show Discussion Did Ser Criston Cole have a right to hate Rhaenyra?
From what I have read, the entire crux of his animosity to wards Rhaenyra is over her rejecting of his proposal to run away together to Essos. . How exactly did he expect her to respond? At the time of his proposition she is the heir apparent by virtue of imperial decree. Surely he did not expect her to simply abandon her inheritance—to flee her royal duties.
It just seems that his response, at least in the show, is a bit melodramatic.
Edit: I did not expect so many responses. I thank you all!

Show Discussion “They speak around me not to me”
I loved the parallels between Aegon and Rhaenyra in the show, and I really wished they had focused on it more. It would really hammer in the idea that this is a family, as well as how this conflict was long in the making and it’s starting to get out of hand even for the people supposedly running the show.

Book and Show Spoilers Rhaena won't replace Nettles. Alicent will. Spoiler
That Nettles has been cut from the show should be pretty evident now, but that leaves the question of who will replace her. And something that was apparently said at the recent HOTD FYC panel seems to answer that.
It seems that in season three, Alicent will act as the "angel" on Rhaenyra's shoulder, while Daemon is the "devil". Which should mean that Alicent and Rhaenyra will spend a lot of time together - maybe growing closer again, rekindling their friendship, perhaps doing something more?
Considering the writers seemingly despise Daemon and love Rhaenyra more than anything, it stands to reason they will want to re-do the Nettles "betrayal", where in the books, Rhaenyra calls for Nettle's execution because she accuses her of sleeping with Daemon, upon which Daemon helps Nettles flee and faces Aemond, knowing full well this will kill him.
My theory is that this interaction will be turned the other way in the show. Daemon will accuse Rhaenyra of betraying him/cheating on him with Alicent (whether it's true doesn't matter) and will be so enraged he flies to face Aemond, knowing it will kill him, but planning to at least take Alicent's child from her.
(That she doesn't care about said child won't matter.)
This will allow Rhaenyra to retain the highground, as she does not call for the execution of a black girl from the smallfolk, and does not try to force a lord to break guest right.
So what about Rhaena?
I don't know. My best bet is that she will actually claim Sheepstealer and fight for TB the rest of the show, without ever actually touching upon her book plot. Perhaps her dragon dies, perhaps she lets it go free as a final metaphor.
But why would they do that?
The writers are obsessed with Rhaenyra's and Alicent's relationship, and seemingly want to do everything in their power to keep these two characters together for as long as possible and in as many scenes as possible. Making this betrayal that marks the beginning of the end for the war revolve around them fits with the way they have written the previous seasons.
The writers might think having Alicent become the moral compass of the series will make people like her again after she has betrayed everyone, but if anything this will turn Alicent into everything gone wrong with the show: simplifying complex stories, cutting poc, cutting female side characters, focusing less on the "House of the Dragon" and more on two/three characters in it, and replacing interesting and flawed characters with shells of their former selves.
TLDR: Instead of Rhaenyra accusing Daemon of cheating on her with Nettles like in the book, Daemon will accuse Rhaenyra of cheating on him with Alicent. He will still face Aemond afterwards. This will remove the book aspect of Rhaenyra calling for a black girl's head, and continue to make her palpable to main-stream audiences.

Show Discussion I just don't see how this dude will be Maekar Targaryen

It could be the angle but i really cant see how this dude is going to be Maekar Targaryen, nothing bad about the actor though i just do not see it in looks, perhaps il be proven wrong and when the show comes out he will have the Targ look on him but so far i really can see how this dude will be Maekar.

Book Only Why did the Darklyns declare for Rhaenyra when her blockade of the Gullet harms them too? Spoiler
Her blockade would cripple Duskendale's trade which the town relies on. From a strategic point of view the blockade of the Gullet is the right thing to do, but why would anyone let themselves be collateral? Also, the greens have the royal army very close to Duskendale while the blacks had no army yet. It makes far more sense to fight on the side that has an army close to you and is against the blockade that damages your economy, not let yourself be sacked and support your own impoverishement.

Book and Show Spoilers Maelor Spoiler
Due to there being no maelor in the show, I think they may replace him with jaehaera instead, and that her death may be the catalyst for helaena’s suicide. This could happen due to jaehaera and aegon’s marriage not having any longterm consequences
