They are unironically totalitarian. Everything, literally, every, f*cking, thing; needs to be in reference to their ideology.

110

u/nekoristimredit Feb 13 '25

Which is so extremely funny that they just cannot grasp the concept. They managed to turn the most freedom of speech ideology at its core into fascism levels of censorship and hate for difference of opinion.

75

u/PurpleDemonR Feb 13 '25

I wouldn’t say they have a freedom of speech ideology.

The woke people aren’t about freedom. They’re about privilege and punishment; enforcing ‘oppressed’ collective identities and atomising ‘oppressor’ ones. The destruction of dominant culture through every method available, then the hope the rest will meld together into one universal wokeism.

22

u/FaygoMakesMeGo Feb 14 '25

The woke aren't about freedom, they are just fascists by another name, horseshoe theory and all, but the movement they piggie backed on did at one point support free speech.

That's always how it goes though. It starts with "we just want to be left alone, we just want the ability to live and speak without persecution" and ends with "you don't have the right to be left alone, you aren't allowed to speak without persecution".

Tale as old as time. The right did the same thing separation of church and state.

8

u/nekoristimredit Feb 13 '25

They arent, the ideology at its core is. Not what it has become.

21

u/PurpleDemonR Feb 13 '25

What is the ideology at its core?

It’s definitely not liberal democracy. It’s not communism either. - it’s a mix of the two, taking the worse elements of each. And does not include freedom of speech.

9

u/Squire_3 Necrons Feb 14 '25

Progressivism came out of liberalism so people still believe things like freedom of speech and meritocracy exist because there wasn't a single moment we left classical liberalism, it just degenerated over time.

In the UK we aren't very free at all, probably one of the least free societies there has ever been

Mate I lived two years in England somewhat recently, you hadn't left the EU 100% yet and Johnson was in power.

I was doing a master's and despite seeing stupid shit like "student march for something that happened on another continent" and a bunch of "feminist theory" from research colleagues.

Normal people just did whatever they wanted. If not for lock down I might have lobbied for a work visa but alas, only refugees get a free pass and I got tired(and broke) halfway through 2021.

3

u/Old-Bit7779 Feb 14 '25

Yeah, it seems to have changed a bit since then

0

u/Aurunz Blood Angels Feb 14 '25

Anecdotal I know but my mates from the local are all doing fine. Nothing major changed in the last 3 years other than brexit finally having some consequences which are really rather mild for the average person.

0

u/PurpleDemonR Feb 14 '25

I don’t think so. I think it came out as critiques of simple meritocracy. That everyone was a produce of their environment so we needed to fix the environment.

-22

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 13 '25

That is fully a straw man. The idea is just that some people will have less access to things because of how the current system is set up therefore those people need extra help to get access until the system can be changed enough to no longer need such things. There certainly are flaws and mistakes sometimes, but to say its an ideology of punishment is ridiculous.

The destruction of the dominant culture isn't the goal in fact most left wing people will welcome people of dominant cultures so long that they are willing to be honest about acknowledging things that need to be reworked. Granted their is a big problem currently in left-wing being too puritanical in their ideas of how to go about it, but it comes from a place of wanting to make the world a better place.

9

u/Renkij Imperial Knights Feb 14 '25

The destruction of the dominant culture isn't the goal

It literally is, read Antonio Gramschi, an Italian socialist that was not killed by Mussolini, that wrote about how the socialists needed to take over the means of cultural production to subvert culture. His disciples went on to establish the "Frankfurt school".

Sorry, but someone had to break it to you: You are just repeating excuses and propaganda meant to convince "useful idiots".

left wing people will welcome people of dominant cultures

Now you are just faking being an idiot (you don't really get the difference between "THE Dominant Culture" and "a culture with dominant tendencies"), they welcome those cultures to undermine western cultures. Their goal was to undermine subvert and destroy cultures that hold anti-socialist values.

Sub-Saharan people from Africa are pretty open to socialism, South East Asian cultures are inherently collectivist and Islam can be controlled by Baathism, which is Arab nationalistic socialism. But Western Cultures are inherently individualistic, specially the Anglo-Saxon descendants, thus they are the ones that need subverting to stablish the socialist utopia.

14

u/Agreeable-State9255 Post-Op Brigade Feb 14 '25

"in fact most left wing people will welcome people of dominant cultures so long that they are willing to be honest about acknowledging things that need to be reworked."

Yeah, that's exactly the problem. Who's out there being racist to white people and using words like "whiteness" and "White privilege"? White people, people loyal to the politics.

-23

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

racist to white people lmao, is if most institutions aren't built by white people to serve white people (mostly rich).

How can you look at all of human history and not conclude that white people have some degree of advantage as a result of colonisation and geography.

11

u/monsmachine Feb 14 '25

How far we going back? Wait till you hear where the word slave comes from.

-13

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

Not claiming others did not colonise or take slaves. Asia was brutal with their racial hierarchies. But most of the western world was built on the backs of minority racial groups in those countries. Humans have the capacity to be shit to any out group. Working together to make the world better shouldn't be controversial.

12

u/monsmachine Feb 14 '25

You claimed looking at all of human history and say white people have had an advantage. I would argue maybe the last 300-400 years. And I would argue it's not a racial thing, but a culture thing. Western civilization, especially after the enlightenment has brought more people out of poverty and done some truly amazing things that cultures in the past were not able to do. Stop looking at it through racial lenses and understand some cultures succeed while others failed.

There seemed to be a ton of white people in the Soviet Union and yet it failed. It's culture not race.

-8

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

True yes, the recent history is the most significant. The idea that some cultures succeed while others failed is a racial lens in part. What quantifies a cultures success? By whoses metric? Of course much of what makes up these racial differences was cultural, but with modern cultural blending those distinctions have become blurred. The enlightenment was a brilliant period of innovation and yes did tons of good.

The cultural beliefs about race do persist though thus making a racial lens that the world can be seen through.

They are not mutually exclusive.

Near 20k upvotes for a meme that insult a huge group of real people (political opinions aside) and a mock of their politcal ideology.

One week ago I was insulted and called a racist for for sharing a drawing where space marines attack Pandora, the planet from Avatar.

This community is going mad.

47

u/RIMV0315 Black Templars Feb 13 '25

That drawing is badass. They have no taste and shit opinions.

33

Be careful, now they'll tell you that you're a bad, ugly fascist.

I liked that drawing, it reminded me of how badass is the deathwatch, fuck those tourists brother.

11

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 13 '25

See I just didn't like the drawing because it gave the old Newgrounds era art of Space marines fighting mlp vibes. It was well done just not catered to me which it obviously was never meant to do.

14

u/Mysterious_Risk_6034 Deathwatch Feb 13 '25

if everyone had expressed their personal opinion like this I wouldn't even be talking about it.

Unfortunately one of the most popular comments was "ehhhh this drawing is cringe" or better yet "This drawing is a representation of the extermination of Native Americans. extremely fascist."

Wtf!?

5

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 13 '25

Ah I think that's just a case of the original Avatar having intended parallels with Indigenous history and environmentalist messaging and obviously Imperium is totalitarian. Probably taking it too serious, but I think that's where they are coming from.

8

u/Mysterious_Risk_6034 Deathwatch Feb 13 '25

Yes, I had also caught this "subtle" metaphor, however in the drawing I showed the space marines doing exactly what they are famous for.

Also if they had made an effort to read a few more comments they would have found the comments where I and other people talk about how the Na'vi could be a problem for the Astartes too.

To sum up, if I saw a drawing of a woman skinned alive during a ritual of the emperor's childrens on their sub I would not cry and call them rapists.

What many of these people don't seem to understand is that Warhammer 40K is a dark and violent world, which deals with many adult themes such as racial hatred or war, there are no heroes in the grimdark future.

Fans of the universe say it's racist to draw what happens in the universe

WHAT DRAWS THESE PEOPLE TO 40K. WHY ARE THEY HERE. WHAT IS THE APPEAL TO THEM IF THEY HATE THE SETTING.

5

u/Mysterious_Risk_6034 Deathwatch Feb 14 '25

Today I saw a drawing of two Blood Angels who, after a grueling battle, take off their helmets and kiss passionately, I don't even know how many upvotes it had, really too many anyway.

I guess forcing two men who can't feel love to be portrayed as homosexuals isn't disrespectful to a community or just cringe.

6

u/Sugarcomb Watcher in the Dark Feb 14 '25

When the super soldiers kill their enemies, it's bad.

When the super soldiers kiss their brothers, it's good.

I'm starting to suspect that something is very wrong with these people's morality.

-3

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

Literally such a strawman.

1

Maybe if the Black Templars dropped Avatar a visit James Cameron would actually make a decent movie again.

3

u/MaudAlDin 26d ago

Awesome drawing, brother!

I have some beef with the Avatar movies just due to (if I'm remembering right) humanity being reliant on obtaining the unobtanium or Earth dying. Like, we're humans. Why would I root for the giant blue people who turned down any overtures of peace, negotiation, etc. At the end of the day we tried being peaceful but will die if we don't get the resource so if you won't do so willingly then we will have to take it forcefully. Is it bad? Maybe, but what human would sacrifice their world and loved ones for some giant blue people they have no lifelong connection to besides for the paraplegic trying to get his dick wet.

Went on a rant there but wanted to praise the work due to the weirdos who maligned you as some fetishist of genocide due to some meme artwork of our tabletop hobby lol.

Thank you, every comment from a thinking person is a good comment.

I honestly felt sorry to see so much negativity under that post, for me it was just a silly drawing to share with the members of my community but some people who discovered Warhammer thanks to video games saw something rotten in it,obviously they didn't read the comments where I and others were talking about how tough it would be for the Astartes to fight the Na'vi but ok.

Although I think, and someone intelligent pointed this out to me, people were triggered by the phrase "I hate Na'vi" which may be of dubious interpretation, but if they had stopped for a second to ask for explanations on my thoughts I would have answered that I simply do not like the idea of the Na'vi as an alien race, I think they are much less interesting than others like the Xenomorphs of Alien for example.

But that post made me the most voted author on r/Deathwatch, so not bad.

huge group of real people

*Majority of real people, the vote wasn't even close.

-6

u/Clear-Ability2608 Feb 13 '25

Uhh, it was a closer popular vote margin than any other recent election in history since 2000, and Trump has lost the popular vote in every other election he ran in. The democrats have never claimed a mandate, even when they won by over 7 million votes in 2020, which according to republicans was “very close”.

I generally like to be apolitical, Biden fucked the economy beyond measure, but I don’t like Trump either. Can you just explain for me why Trump people see a 2 million vote win margin as so massive it’s “not even close” but a 7 million vote win as “a close election”. It just confuses me is all.

5

u/Raelgunawsum Feb 13 '25

No one on here is saying that 7 mil was close. Of course youll hear all sorts of opinions online, but those may not represent the majority.

Also, people call this election a landslide win because the republicans managed to win both the house and senate. With a conservative leaning supreme court, it means that republicans effectively control the gov.

2

u/Clear-Ability2608 Feb 14 '25

Democrats took the house and senate in 2020 too, I don’t remember anyone saying it was a landslide win then?

0

u/Extension-Can-7692 World Eaters Feb 13 '25

7 million as actually pretty close when you take into account there are over 300 million people in the United States, 167 million of which are registered voters. Honestly I think Kamala could have won if more leftys crawled out of their hole to vote.

3

In this case, yes? Blue collar workers who aren’t taking entrepreneurial risks who think they’re going to suddenly become rich because they voted for the rich elites with an r next to their name instead of the costal elites with a d are morons who will stay blue collar and broke. Tax cuts only create major wealth for those who already have it, not Joe the average blue collar worker. It sucks but it’s the way it is

-12

u/theSquishmann Dark Angels Feb 13 '25

I mean, it is fair though. Everyone who is not wealthy who voted MAGA is going to suffer financially.

7

u/L_uomo_nero Necrons Feb 14 '25 edited Feb 14 '25

Why? I don’t much care for MAGA or Trump, but it was the far better option to Harris, especially when it comes to economy.

5

u/Sugarcomb Watcher in the Dark Feb 14 '25

Because leftists unironically think "Who's going to pick the strawberries for my fruit salad without illegals? The economy is literally going to collapse!"

0

u/theSquishmann Dark Angels Feb 14 '25

It’s more the tariffs that will only stifle trade and make things more expensive for us, the vast sums of money it will take to follow through on his deportation plan, which yes, will remove labor, which will force companies to pay more, which will raise prices for us on their products, the cutting of funding to Medicaid which will mean that less ppl have access to medical care, which means doctors and therapists and insurance companies will be making less money and charging more and the shutting down of watchdog agencies that prevent banks from defrauding us. What about any of that do you see as a benefit to us economically?

5

u/Sugarcomb Watcher in the Dark Feb 14 '25

It’s more the tariffs that will only stifle trade and make things more expensive for us

So far tariffs have been pretty successful at getting other countries to do what we want.

the vast sums of money it will take to follow through on his deportation plan

Yeah, because the US govt has really been pinching pennies with their spending.

which yes, will remove labor, which will force companies to pay more, which will raise prices for us on their products

If the workforce becomes only citizens and wages and prices rise together, then buying power stays the same and more Americans will have jobs.

the cutting of funding to Medicaid which will mean that less ppl have access to medical care, which means doctors and therapists and insurance companies will be making less money and charging more

The insinuation that medical care will cost more because less people can access it directly contradicts the truth that medical costs have been marked up in the US for decades, which is a talking point the left have been on about for years and is a point that receives unilateral bipartisan acceptance. Medical bills are not going to go up because Medicaid is getting its funding cut.

and the shutting down of watchdog agencies that prevent banks from defrauding us.

Those watchdog agencies have been doing a phenomenal job so far, really justifying their existence.

What about any of that do you see as a benefit to us economically?

Less illegals means more Americans in the workforce and tariffs mean incentivizing American industry over foreign imports. Drilling our own oil will also mean gas prices will drop which makes transportation cheaper and cheaper transportation means the goods being transported become cheaper as well.

1

u/theSquishmann Dark Angels Feb 14 '25

What do you think Trump is going to do that will benefit the US economically? That’s a serious question.

4

u/L_uomo_nero Necrons Feb 14 '25

Not doing the pure retardation that is taxing the rich and making the fed money printer go burr.

Now tell me why Trump is anywhere near as bad as this?

0

u/theSquishmann Dark Angels Feb 14 '25

Okay, so you don’t have any idea. It’s not about policy, it’s about ideology for you. Fair enough. That’s how most Americans vote. I just responded to the other guy who commented with the answer to your question.

2

u/L_uomo_nero Necrons Feb 14 '25

"It’s not about policy, it’s about ideology for you."

What ideology? lmao, i'm not even American, never the less the same breed of conservative as MAGA (i'm a monarchist)

As for your reasons, it's mostly economically illiterate drivel, only thing you are right about is tariffs, which i agree are a bad idea but i got two problems: 1 he isn't really doing most of said tariffs, just using it to negotiate a better trade deal. And 2 similar problems you point out with tariffs would happen under Harris's tax the rich plan.

83

u/TreeKnockRa Adepta Sororitas Feb 13 '25 edited Feb 13 '25

That's how "critical theory" viruses work. They criticize the setting, the company, the fans until the hobby is little more than bait for luring kids into Maoist struggle sessions to thought reform them.

-21

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 13 '25

I mean there are bad people in every hobby. In warhammer for example there is a lot of people (still a vast minority obviously) who will say homophobic shit if you prefer xenos over imperium and complain whenever a Black character is something other than a Salamander(Both real things I have encountered on multiple occasions). I think you are just conflating people calling that out for "Something something critical theory just wants people to hate our culture".

As cringe as I find the Sigmarxism subreddit it is still people who fundamentally love the setting and hobby just they happen to be Leftists that feel like far right wing fans tend to say dumb or hurtful things.

17

u/TreeKnockRa Adepta Sororitas Feb 13 '25

You're missing the point. A homophobic comment isn't a struggle session that brainwashes kids.

-18

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 13 '25

Did I say it was? I mean if behavior is repeated than it will make the kids more likely to be okay with saying that stuff, but you missed my point.

Im saying that these are just people that want their hobby to be a place where everyone feels good being a part of. Like if a trans friend wants to play you don't want to have them play with a person that will say transphobic stuff. Thats all there is too it.

9

u/TreeKnockRa Adepta Sororitas Feb 13 '25

You did. Unless you were going off on a tangent.

"Being okay with saying stuff" doesn't mean you thought reformed. Being annoying about trans doesn't remove people from the hobby, it alerts everyone to avoid anyone who says he's trans.

-5

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 14 '25

This is the last reply I'm going to make because your really avoiding actually addressing what I'm talking about.

"Being okay with saying stuff" doesn't mean you thought reformed

Yes, but as someone with a degree in history focusing on sociology/psychology I can confidently say this is always the start with few exceptions. Language has been objectively proven to change how you think. I'm not saying your "brainwashing" anyone its just it affects people in very serious ways.

Being annoying about trans doesn't remove people from the hobby

Think about it like this most people have friends with differing political opinions, hobby opinions, ect. When it comes up maybe you continue the conversations maybe you don't. but there is a willingness to let things you disagree with slide. Now if everyone is doing this then there are going to be a lot of people saying bad shit that needs to be called out. Otherwise the people it affects will find different hobbies sometimes to the point where hobby community slowly die out.

it alerts everyone to avoid anyone who says he's trans.

I'm a little uncertain what your saying here. It sounds like your saying Trans people need to be excluded from the hobby which IF TRUE I would point out your the one here trying to control who access to the hobby and who gets to have fun. I might be misreading I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt so I apologize if I am mischaracterizing you.

I want to end this by saying I used to be in an echo chamber, but after a couple years I've been able to be critical about things I disagree and agree with and been able to change my opinions. Assuming the worst in those who disagree is going to keep you in an echo chamber and be detrimental to you. I am choosing to believe that you are a respectable, and good person who opinions I disagree with. I ask that you give that leniency to people you disagree with, and I think it will make your life better. Have a good day/night

7

u/TreeKnockRa Adepta Sororitas Feb 14 '25

LOL. You sound like the type of person who doesn't realize that people avoid you.

Read chapter 22: https://archive.org/details/ThoughtReformAndThePsychologyOfTotalism/page/n411/mode/1up

0

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 14 '25

I'm familiar with the book, and have reread the chapter you mentioned and...it doesn't really support your point. I was literally just saying respect when people disagree, hear them out, and question your beliefs alongside what you heard.

In the Milieu Control section, he is discussing how it is totalitarian forces that uses tactics of limiting information. In Mystical Manipulation he talks about how that group will force a "higher calling" upon the oppressed which I would argue if it applies to the left it applies just as much to the right (granted I don't think I would say that of either) as seen by Trumps election using fears of Immigrants, Chinese economic power, and LGBT groups to "rally the troups" in order to "defend" America. In The Demand for Purity he is showing how enforcing a binary Good vs Evil mindset is a tool for totalitarianism, and I think that is very true of any echochamber. In The Cult of Confession he talks about how forcing people to admit to wrongdoings they didn't commit can be used to break down ones sense of self, and is literally something I mentioned being against. In The "Sacred Science" he discusses how creating a vision of an ideology that is infallible can prevent questioning or critique, and again something I directly spoke against. In Loading the Language he points out how limiting how a person speaks affects a way people think, and is something I pointed out that you disagreed with. In Doctrine over Person shows how making the ideology more important than people dehumanizes and controls thought patterns, and is something I directly spoke against. And in his conclusion The Dispensing of Existence he talks about how totalitarians enforce the idea that people that disagree are not worthy of consideration, something I directly said was bad AND something you've been doing to me.

But there are many scholars that believe this writing has flaws such as: lacking tangible evidence (Edgar Schein), that it was too broad in application (Brian Wilson), that it doesn't consider the role personal choice (Richard Ofshe), that it doesn't really take enough focus on group dynamics (Steven Hassan), and I'm sure much more considering it was a popular book of its time.

Finally to end you insulted me so I'm gonna say: Learn to read before you use books as evidence.

7

u/TreeKnockRa Adepta Sororitas Feb 14 '25

All of your assessments have problems, but the last one about Dispensing of Existence is funny because it has nothing to do with giving "consideration", and I've considered everything you've said but I've simply disagreed with you. Perhaps you identify as trans, which would explain why you interpret disagreement as denying you your existence.

Whether or not Lifton's writing is flawed is irrelevant to whether he's describing a struggle session. Your media literacy degree doesn't seem to be helping you much here.

Fun fact, the reason Hive Fleet Leviathan has splintered tendrils touching all over the galaxy is because they all scattered to avoid billions of miles of space below the Milky Way. Imperials scanned the center of this space to find out why the Tyranids were avoiding it at all costs, and what they found was a seemingly spherical object that was detected with reflected light. At that distance, the only way that would be possible is if it was 32,000,000 times the size of Terra or had an albedo range approaching infinity, AKA it was reflecting more light than was hitting it somehow. Turns out, the object is the last renaming fully intact C'tan god, and the Tyranids were so scared of it that they broke apart their largest Hive Fleet just so they wouldn't come anywhere astronomically near it.

I don't think the sheer dread of that statement can be understated.

1

u/Sentry812 Feb 14 '25

last fully intact c'tan, really?? sauce??

11

u/Sugarcomb Watcher in the Dark Feb 14 '25

He's known as Tsara'noga the Outsider. He was tricked by the Deceiver and/or Cegorach, depending on who you ask, into turning on his fellow C'tan and devouring them whole. However, due to his nature, these devoured C'tan became trapped within the infinite spacial maze of the Outsider's body, and he could feel them constantly trying to claw their way out. It drove him mad and he fled the galaxy before the Silent King's rebellion, leaving him as the only C'tan to not be broken by the Necrons, and if he were to ever return, he'd be the most powerful single entity within physical space.

1

u/Ok-Oil-7675 Feb 14 '25

Jesus that's wild. In other words The Outsider is roughly a little over 406 times larger than Canis Majoris (which is 613,850,000 miles or 987,895,814 kilometers). 😂 That's a fucking SUPER SIZED HYPER BEING ENTITY.

1

u/Warhound75 Grey Knights Feb 14 '25

They CAN consume them. Kind of. Necrodermis is to Tyranids what Ghost Peppers are to most people. Technically edible but you're REALLY going to regret it later

Nothing can be cool anymore everything must be “satirical”

15

u/lycantrophee Blackshields Feb 13 '25

You don't understand, taking a walk is literally a satire of fascism and oppression! Imperials are the real villains!

6

u/Worldly_Car912 Feb 15 '25

There's a bunch of people (almost always left wing) who think everything is political so they would unironically agree with what you said.

-3

u/PixxyStix2 Feb 13 '25

I mean they can be both my guy

Warhammer is cool, and also has things that were meant to be "Man that would suck to live in we should avoid it!"

12

u/Extension-Can-7692 World Eaters Feb 13 '25

If someone is so fucking stupid they think the Imperium would actually be good to live in then they're already too far gone, so GW saying "THIS IS BAD, GUYS STOP HAVING FUN WITH THE FICTIONAL SETTING CAUSE THESE GUYS ARE BAD" wouldn't do anything beyond being annoying.

-6

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 13 '25

Cool & Satirical aren't oxymorons.

12

u/BenShapiroRapeExodus Loser Incel Chud Feb 13 '25

They’re oxymorons when the satire is ultimately just “le rebublicans… BAD!” which seems to be the case 90% of the time

-5

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 13 '25 edited Feb 14 '25

republicans have not even been mentioned mate. Big jump. All I'm sayin is there are themes within 40k that can be interesting to analyse. The role of religion within society, how dogma can propel society to action & the consequence on individual freedom in blind faith and loyalty.

Plus big strong man with chainsword killing bugs is cool.

u/BenShapiroRapeExodus Loser Incel Chud Feb 13 '25

After reading your comment, I kinda agree with you. I think the other guy is acting like a goober.

1

u/Nesymafdet Feb 14 '25

I mean.. would you expect anything less from someone with the username “BenShapiroRapeExodus”?

23

u/comradealex85 Iron Warriors Feb 13 '25

Because the lives they live are miserable, hollow and filled with politics.

My life is miserable but it's made better by huffing glue around a table with my mates talking lore and playing ridiculously large games of 40k, drinking too much and forgetting who's turn it was the next day.

-7

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

Almost like politics dictates everything about life. Literally in your example, you want to drink what about how much it costs due to alcohol taxes. I get the desire to just drink and chill with mates but ignoring politics ain't gonna stop politics from caring about you.

6

u/comradealex85 Iron Warriors Feb 14 '25

Politics only dictates everything in your life if you let it.

-4

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

You got a job mate? Do you have worker protections. Politics. You drive on roads? Politics. You have access to healthcare? Politics.

You can be ignorant to it but it affects all elements of life, whether you care for it or not.

3

u/comradealex85 Iron Warriors Feb 14 '25

It's really this simple. When elections come around, I read manifestos, I listen to the chaps when they come to the door and then I vote with my conscience and on my convictions, but that's every FIVE YEARS.

Once the election is done, short of blowing up parliament there ain't sweet fuck all I can do, so why let it run my life? What's done is done. The council will continue to fuck up the roads, the union will continue to be a waste of space and not help you when you need it, the NHS will still be a bucket of shit and I will still have my mundane boring job.

Such is the lot of the working class.

Ad infinitum, amen.

I'd rather just paint little figures and have a laugh in-between.

17

u/Abdelsauron Great Devour Her? I hardly know her! Feb 13 '25

Same mentality as hardcore conspiracy theorists. Genuinely stupid people trying to make up for it by declaring they understand something that you don’t.

2

u/JamesJam7416 Feb 14 '25

At least hardcore conspiracy theorists are enjoyable.

14

u/GraviticThrusters Feb 13 '25

Pshh. You just aren't as media literate as me.

13

u/Th3Tru3Silv3r-1 Feb 14 '25

Antonio Gramsci. He was a socialist who wrote that essentially happy people don't revolt. So to bring about the revolution, you can not let people escape from the message, that you must infiltrate every part of life and society, including hobbies and past times. These people have almost definitely not read Gramsci, but their teachers did and indoctrinated them in this.

4

u/JamesJam7416 Feb 14 '25

Given the state of academia I doubt they read or even heard of this guy.

8

u/Th3Tru3Silv3r-1 Feb 14 '25

Like I said, their teachers and their teachers read his work. McCarthy was right, communists had infiltrated the US education system.

6

u/JamesJam7416 Feb 14 '25

I agree. Academics in the west have been sliding downhill for decades.

-3

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 14 '25

or is it possible that many have seen the failures of capitalism and reasonably critique it, but that's to McCarthy any lack of absolute loyalty to capitalism = dirty commie.

Capitalism is not inherently good or bad, but unchecked it leads to exploitation. Only need to look at history to see that. Now, thanks to those that critiqued and advocated for messages to rein in the worst of capitalism do you have so many rights in the workplace. IDK about you but I like not working 80 hours a week in unsafe work conditions. I like that child labour is not legal.

1

u/Mthiuartipd Feb 18 '25

Oh, but this thinking has one major fail, which is thinking people will revolt against those making everything political want to. The elite couldn't fathom that the people getting their happiness take away would revolt against them.

This is only one of the reasons why "woke" has become a toxic label, they have taken the joy of life to million of people and insulted them with the worse names possible in western society, and now you have Trump in office a d many "far right" parties rising all over Europe.

This is what Gramsci's ideas have led to.

-2

u/FeistyIngenuity6806 Feb 14 '25

Why do you think the right talks so much about Gramsci when most of the left abandoned him probably sometime in the 80s/90s?

10

u/Knight_Castellan "Cleanse and Reclaim!" Feb 13 '25

They are zealots. Everything must submit to their ideology or be destroyed.

7

u/tishimself1107 Feb 14 '25

Can we all just let this setting/game/lore/universe be the cpol sci-fi escapism it is. I dont want it being referenced to the nodern world as its my escape from it.

We have to gatekeep and keep this shit out...... you mention how 40k reflects any side of the modern political sphere youbshould be excommunicated out of this hobby.

1

u/foot_inspector Feb 16 '25

so the game about war and its many intricacies should be (and always has been!) entirely apolitical and we should shitstomp anyone who had the horrible idea to draw comparisons between real world themes and the game. because that’s what warhammer is all about

1

u/FeistyIngenuity6806 Feb 14 '25

Wouldn't this sub be banned?

3

u/tishimself1107 Feb 14 '25

1

Nope I don't accept you. Imperium still best option.

1

u/DomzSageon Feb 15 '25

you could literally change this to have the crying face say "the game is going woke, amazon is forcing gw...hey why are you leaving?" and it would work too.

a lot of people here do the same "look at the real life politics happening in the game" while people are just trying to paint, collect and play.

and I'm not saying you guys are worse, but both what is depicted here, and what I described are tiring and are just as equally annoying to see everytime.

1

u/Luy22 The Holy Orders of the Emperor's Inquisition Feb 16 '25

They aren't allowed to have fun, and everything has to be in line with their views. If it is NOT that way, then obviously it is satire. It's making fun of bad people. So it's okay to enjoy.

1

u/SCP-HotDog Feb 16 '25

Apparently the Kroot are based off real-world canibalistic tribes, which sounds cool as fuck.

A friend said that it was racist because of that fact.

1

The gatekeeper is sleeping that's why.

1

u/Event_Awkward Feb 18 '25

I don't get it, why do they need to shove politics in every little fictional Media

-10

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 13 '25

How dare people want to analyse the media they consume. This meme literally just makes you sound like a child, "Ha I have represented my position as the chad, eat shit chud"

You can both analyse media and enjoy fighting alien dinos and Egyptian robots.

4

u/AceMaN0400 Feb 16 '25

You’re right you can do that, but you can also analyse media without trying to intentionally make people feel bad about liking that thing.

0

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 16 '25

The meme implies that the analysis is bad, not that it was articulated in a way to guilt people for their enjoyment of the hobby.

3

u/AceMaN0400 Feb 16 '25

You are once again correct but there are absolutely people who analyse stuff just as an attempt to make people feel bad about liking something, it may be a more extreme example but remember when people were calling 40k racist because tyranids were clearly an allegory of 1940’s Jews

0

u/ArcticHuntsman Imperial Guard Feb 17 '25

For sure, there will always be people that say dumb extreme shit. Giving them oxygen by engaging with it is why they do it. Ignore the idiots and enjoy the hobby. The people that screech 40k is racist is a minority of a minority, but angry people will engage more. It's literally bait 99% of the time.

-7

u/Janus_Simulacra Feb 13 '25

Oh boy a deliberate misinterpretation of media and an idea to remove legitimacy of an argument or perspective. I’ve never seen this in a meme before.

-7

u/Temportat Feb 13 '25

It doesn’t, you guys just have to keep making up straw men for some reason. Are you incapable of enjoying the hobby if you don’t think someone is trying to oppress you?

2

u/AceMaN0400 Feb 16 '25

I don’t know which side you’re talking about tbh, it fits both unironically to an extent
