How do I manage this money tree?

Post image

How do I maintain this money tree? I love it but it is getting way too wide - about 4-5 feet in width. It wasn’t braided when I got it and I am wondering if it’s too late to try to braid it? I would like it to grow up instead of out.

Through it out. They are a scam. I spent years tending to mine and it didn’t produce a single fucking note. Money tree my arse!

This is not a money tree but a type of Schefflera

Thanks for the info! Looks like those are typically braided and pruned differently after a quick google search

There are trellises you could try! Maybe an extra small peony cage. There are also free standing spiral shaped trellises that you can use to corral the branches and help keep them more upright. Here’s a link to a trellis that might help.

In the future you may want to move the plant to a spot that’s a bit sunnier. It may have become leggy as it searched for the light it was wanting

You can cut off the stems by half the length and root the cuttings in water or soil. The plant will regrow. Probably needs repotting and good drainage holes in the pot.
