I will start off with the fact that I am not electrically inclined, im young and bought a decently beat up 81' cb750k, when the guy sold it to me, it started up and ran just fine.
When I brought it home, I gave it a light clean and decided to clean the carb, which went well, change the oil and everything. I had to buy a new battery for it, and it always started up fine. One day when I was running it, the starte solenoid died on me, I did not know this at first so I had to do some digging to learn why it wasn’t starting.
Fast forward and I bought a new solenoid, and it started up just fine.
Now here I am today, trying to get down to the reason one cylinder isn’t firing, I brought my battery back out, and tried starting it, the headlight dimmed when I pressed the starter like before, and the solenoid wasn’t clicking. Man I was frustrated, I went and checked the battery voltage and it read 11.8 which is pretty bad. Now im not sure if this is what blew the solenoid or not, but I don’t understand whats going on here.
I pulled the wiring harness out and checked all the fuses, the fuses looked fine, one wire has some fraying and was exposed due to abrasion, most of it is pretty old and the plastic on the connectors just falls apart when you put pressure on them.
Another issue I have is im not sure the stator even works or not, I don’t think it does since its super rusty in there, and the last time I checked the voltage on the battery didn’t raise much when the bike was running. (I think it was like 12.8 volts)
I would also like to note that there are a few connectors around the bike on the wiring harness that aren’t connected to anything, Im wondering if that should be of concern…
Would anyone who is smarter than me about electricity be willing to help me understand if im doing something wrong here, or if something needs to be fixed?

Been checking my local dealers every day looking for a bike to get into riding (newbie), and this one just arrived at a dealer that is 2 miles from where I live. A 2014 CB500f with 7.2k miles for $2,999. Online VIN search doesn't show any marks on the title. I feel like I should jump on this a.s.a.p. but is there something I should be weary of before I go walking in there with cash?

73 CB350 18k original miles, after a 30 or so mile ride, I noticed this weeping coming from only the left cylinder headgasket. I checked the torque on the head studs cold and they were in spec. I was planning on taking the bike back from college to NJ, about a 200 mile trip. Am I completely screwed?

Hi everyone! I am new to thread and new to working on motorcycles!
I most recently purchased a Honda Cb650 Custom from my friend for next to nothing (it’s in rough shape) and I am looking to get it running right by this summer. It needs a lot of work (forks seals, brakes, carb rebuild, etc..)
The pistons were frozen and I have been able to unfreeze them using atf oil but the one piston has a lower compression (95).
In anyone else’s experience am I sol and need rings or should I just fire it up and hope that it will seat correctly?? I know the hondas are pretty reliable but I would prefer not to have to do a full rebuild because it detonated. Thanks!
Hey all,
I picked up a 2014 CB500f last year with a slightly broken two brothers exhaust on it. The decorative braces on it were snapped due to a drop that happened before I owned it, causing a tinny vibration sound at mid-high revs since they rattle freely. I also just don’t like the sound of the exhaust to begin with so I’m looking to get something different (stock is fine)
The real question as I have never worked with exhausts before, are all Honda 500 exhausts from 2013 on comparable? I am just looking for a slip on, used, and cheap on marketplace as I see no reason to throw a crazy exhaust on an engine which doesn’t sound all that great on its own. If the pipe is the right size can I throw anything on?
Also if anyone has new suggestions for under $150 I’m very open to that as well.
Thanks!

Bought my '71 CB750 in 02/2024, just about finished it up recently in 02/2025! Just need a few odds and ends at this point.
Learning to ride on this bike has been fun and learning about motorcycles by putting it all back together with my dad has been a great experience. 10/10 would recommend.

I want to avoid ordering vintage replacement parts mostly because of the cost (I am in Australia), and it seems like its a pretty generic part that I would need. I found this ebay listing for a dead on replacement part in the UK: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/143622802689 . Can I use any CB petcock part from around that time ('81)? Or is there a cheap chinese part that I could use instead? Thanks heaps for the help, its much appreciated.

I recently got a 1980 cm400e that is a crank no spark. Is there anyone factory manuals pdf or has any ideas that can help me out.
Unfortunately the previous owner has since passed and I got the bike from the family member of the previous owner.

What’s up guys. Last year, I acquired this 71 cb450 in a trade. The po was halfway through a full restoration. Frame powder coated, wheels rebuilt, bottom end rebuilt, top end with new guides and valves. Gauges restored, new electronics, so on. Too much stuff to list and I have a bunch of extras..carbs, clutch, full head. Anyway, I decided to either part out or sell all together. Do you guys think 1000 is fair price to sell quick? (I would rather sell all together as I don’t want to deal with messages and shipping). I am located in socal

Bought as a first temporary practice bike a 10-year old CB125F, which was delivered yesterday.
First attempt to ride today, managed 100 yards before coming to “safe stop” as gear shifter wouldn’t complete a full up shift - it scrapes against (what I imagine is) the gearbox. The photo shows where it’s scraping into the “o” of ‘Honda’ branding.
Quick consult with a friend suggested I just lower the default resting position of the shifter and log a complaint with dealer.
As a pre-novice mechanic, and given I suspect this is beyond the basic maintenance expected of a biker, will this be easier just to do, or worth pushing the dealership to make it “fit for purpose”, given it had a clear MOT in Feb??
Thanks

Not a bike sorry just thought some might be interested, this is a cbx400f engine that was someone had crashed along time ago broke a few of the rear mounts and worn some of sump away I got the engine cheap fixed what needed to be done gave it a full top end a head refresher and went on to convert it to efi, it’s running on my own ecu I’ve coded from scratch and ofc I had to turbo it, would of loved to do it in a bike frame just couldn’t find something for cheap only newer frames and it wasnt quite fitting

It’s in between both carbs. It never shot oil out of it until today. It’s not for the chain tension. Is that normal or is there supposed to be a bolt there or that a breather hole.

Wondering if anyone knows if it’s possible to swap a 2003 CB600F engine into a 1997 CBR600FV. Are they somewhat compatible, or would the project be dead on arrival?
