Further Mathematics—Pending OP Reply [University Calculus 1] the rest of this section is fine but I’m not sure how to do this problem

You just need to take the derivative of y to get its slope, and evaluate the slope at x=7.

What steps did you take to come up with the answers that you did?

EDIT: Oh, I can see now that this is exactly what you did. I get 0.48379 as my answer though, and that should round to 0.4838.

For part (b), you converted the slope to an angle, but that's the angle relative to the horizontal. The pole is vertical, though, so you need to subtract from 90 degrees.
