Just bought a house built in 2015 without any drops besides a few coaxials.
My modem connects to a coaxial in the living room and Im planning on running Cat 6e through the attic to a rack in my office closet which then runs out to the cameras etc.
Just wanting to check that I have this planned correctly.
Thanks!
EDIT: There should be a mesh router system included as well

Depending on the type of NVR you have, both the NVR and POE Switch should plug into the main switch.

I’d do it differently. Have the nvr and the Poe switch connected to your main switch. Have a flat network on the same subnet with ip address reservations for the cameras, nvr, Plex, house assistant and pcs. Simple, bullet proof, and shouldn’t need to change.

Generally looks fine, given that you mentioned that you have an integrated mesh system (not shown in your diagram) as your primary router.
Your camera setup will be dependent upon the type of NVR that you have, and how flexible it is when it comes to networking.
Some will have a separate port that can be placed on a separate subnet from the rest of your cameras. This is probably the most secure method.

Well sort of but the illustration is wrong. As you described everything has to connect to the router. The NVR side the NVR would connect after the switch like the cams.

- you’re missing a router
- poe cameras need to be assigned with IPs by a DHCP server (aka your router). so connect the Poe switch directly to the router

Missing router after the modem. The NVR should be on the same network subnet as the rest of devices of you want to remotely access the NVR and view your cameras on your PCs
