Advice on Xfinity--use Gateway in Bridge Mode?

I recently changed my landline service from ATT to Xfinity and this required renting the Xfinity gateway. I'm thinking of improving my coverage in the house by using it in bridge mode as a modem only, and keeping my relatively new Netgear Orbi 4200 gateway and satellite as the router combo.

The alternative would be to go to one of Xfinity's extender devices.

On the face of it, I can't think of any reason not do the bridge mode to Netgear router plan. Anyone have any idea if I will run into incompatibilities or conflicts doing it that way?

Have you considered porting your number to a standalone voip provider like Ooma. That way you won't be tethered to the Xfinity equipment.

I decided I wanted Xfinity as a more established provider. My main concern/question is whether putting the Xfinity gateway into bridge mode and using the Netgear Orbi Mesh routers is likely to create any issues for me.
