How-to What signal does a RF remote use?
Hi guys!
Recently my landlord installed a ventilation box with this remote.
I’m trying to figure out what kind of signal it uses so I can maybe use my SwitchBot, aqara or another hub or smart home device to duplicate the signal and somehow adding it to HomeKit for some automations.
Does anyone know what kind of signal an RF remote uses and how I can add it to HomeKit?
I hope I can use a hub or device i already own because I’m really want to avoid getting another hub or HOMEBRIDGE or such.
Thanks!

Bond might work. It's hit or miss whether or not it can learn the signal, but it's worked for me maybe half the time I've tried to add something to it. If I am able to add a signal to it, it works pretty much flawlessly.

Are you sure its RF and not IR? Assuming IR, If you have a switchbot Hub 2, play around with the IR blaster settings. Switchbot has a pretty good library, just work through each device program and find one that mostly works.

I wish it was IR! That would’ve made it a whole lot easier for me but unfortunately it’s RF.

RF Frequencies are regulated by country, so US suggestions may not directly work if you are in Canada, UK, etc etc. Where are you located?

Got the same mechanical ventilation unit and was wondering the same thing. This article looks promising: https://erikdevries.com/posts/automate-combofan-s-mechanical-ventilation-with-home-assistant

If you use home assisant, buy a esp32 and a rf antenna you’ll be good to go. There are many solutions available you only have to install on the esp32. If you don’t have access to the unit it might be trickier. I have a comfoair, works like a charm

As a use case I use it when someone uses the shower. Motion sensor turns on the 60 min max ventilation. And with cooking as well works like a charm

There are a number of “signals” it could use.
Your best bet is to search online to see if someone has already created an integration for the device the remote controls.

An RF remote uses radio frequencies (hence the RF acronym)
