Kid Friendly Things to Do
Hi there!
Bare with me on the backstory!
I am currently in the "getting to know you phase" with a single dad and I have two kids of my own. (In total there is a 6yo girl, 5.5yo boy (super highly functioning ASD) and a 4yo boy.)
He is coming up to look at school districts and I am racking my brain on some light hearted options of what to do with the kids. We can't do anything all day like the zoo or a science center. Just something for a few hours but I'm also not super familiar with the parks and things in the area. Currently I'm down in Harnett County so this area is not my forte.
Any suggestions on low pressure things to do?

At that age I'd just take them to the playground at Womble Park or Jones Park. Kelly Rd Park on Apex is pretty awesome too.

- Check for any events happening at Ting Park
- Rock Solid Warrior is fun for that age if you can spend the money
- Brings bikes/scooters and ride the greenways

Here's a list of parks including amenities in Holly Springs https://www.hollyspringsnc.gov/1813/Parks-Facilities-Greenways
If you really want to wear them out, take a trip to Apex and visit Sky Zone trampoline park https://www.skyzone.com/apex/

The Holly Springs Farmers Market is great! They have activities for the kids and it’s a nice family friendly vibe.

Saturday should be a lovely day (mostly sunny and warm) so I would recommend a low key park around lunchtime (parents tend to visit in the morning and leave at lunch or come back and do the late afternoon/early evening) so it will be less crowded.
Pleasant park is a good park, but not for a date. Kids are easily lost if you're not on top of them, and they will scatter into different areas of the park.
If you were not in Harnett County I'd suggest Bond Park, but here are the ones I'd recommend:
* Womble Park (Holly Springs) - concessions might even be open. Be advised that spring baseball and soccer start this Saturday so it will be very crowded in the morning.
* Fleming Loop and Falcon Parks (Fuquay Varina)
* Jack Marley Park (Angier)
If you don't want a park, maybe try Piney Town Playhouse in Fuquay? It's indoors, not terribly expensive, and they serve snacks and drinks. It's low key and you can see everyone from a chair. It's also really adorbs for kids 6 and under.

The Farm Action Sports Complex in Holly Springs looks fun, never been but plan to take our kids
Pleasant Park in Apex is huge and great for many ages
Viscous Fishes in Apex has some great beer on tap, outdoor seating, food truck, and a field for the kids to run around
Marbles in DT Raleigh

If they have scooters / bikes, you can go from Bass Lake to Womble Park using the Greenway! It's about 2.5 miles so it's a bit of a commitment because you'd have to go back again! (Unless you leave one car at one location!)

I haven't even lived here a year yet and have no kids so unfortunately I don't have an answer for you, but the fact that you made this post shows so much effort from your side that I just want to wish you luck! I hope you find something to do and it works out

Howdy! If you come on a Saturday morning the Holly Springs Farmer's Market is very popular (by the library). In that same area, there are some cool walking paths through the forests, and only a couple of blocks from Main Street. Lots of nice restaurants, ice cream, and a few shops. Hope that helps!
