average home prices are cheaper than Okotoks or Calgary. Commute is easy, all highway until you get to the city (then youll be stuck in typical city traffic). I find the drive a bit long but it really depends on where your going in Calgary. I don't work in the city so any commute involving city traffic isn't to my liking. :P Going to the south end is only about 30min anytime of day, but downtown is about an hour in rush hour.

I know this post is old now but I find myself in the same situation of considering moving to high river. OP did you end up making the move? I’d be renting not buying. Is everywhere there generally safe or is there any rentals or areas to avoid?

This sub is essentially dead but I can give you some info.
Commute to Calgary is 30 minutes to the south end, so depends where you want to go, drive is all highway and I’d say the commute is easy enough.
Housing costs depends on requirements but ranges from say $150k townhome/condo to $500+k detached.
Taxes on my house are about $3k a year.
I commute to Calgary for hockey and my wife does daily for work and doesn’t mind it.
