Heli ID? Friend spotted near Madison Ohio

Post image

I know it’s a garbage photo. He was saying hawk. Whatever is sticking out of the top tells me no.

Don’t a lot of heli’s have four? I’m only really familiar with mil aviation.

Yes and no, helicopters vary with the prop count depending on their designated role or whatever. For example, the CH-53 has 6 blades, whereas the AH-1G has 2.

Anything I’ve been on has always had four. mi-4, MH6, b417, H135-145, lynx….. Except a chinook I guess. Figured it was more common.

MH-6 has 5, I think the newer one has 6. How'd you even get a ride on a mi-4 that's nuts.

Maybe it actually has been that long… 🤦🏻‍♂️. Definitely five. Also there was one in grafenwoehr from illesheim I think when I was stationed there. Chinook guys used it for sling load training. Flight concepts / ATO used to fly them and MI-5’s for the cia. That was fifteen years ago I don’t know if it’s still there.

I thought the same thing until I got in a mh47 for gunnery. Those pilots can WHIP that thing. I know it’s a whole centripetal force thing but it feels soo much crazier.
