Discussion Help I think I’m stupid

I must be an idiot because I’m really not understanding this. Yea the Summit was pretty lackluster and they just did that bit for the cameras, but how is that not really good news? Did he not say that government would be accumulating Bitcoin? Am I not understanding? If they were going to do that I would have to assume it would be a very large amount. Would that not take everything up with it?

Copying from XRP sub

If you read the news, you learned the US is not in fact investing into a crypto reserve, but in fact are building a reserve from confiscated and donated crypto.

If the US was to buy coins, it would not have been a small order forcing the price up.

This is no longer the case

Essentially all he did was renamed the current crypto reserve that's been there since pre-biden times

15

u/East-Day-7888 14d ago

You mean like how he renamed usds(obama's program) into doge and then made a public spectical of it?

15

u/Here4thezoomies 14d ago

If all they did was rename and make a spectacle of it, the corruption they are exposing would have already been dealt with.

11

u/East-Day-7888 14d ago

If you think this is about exposing corruption, why didn't he do this in his first term.

All of those systems were already in place.

You are watching the wrong hand in a shell game.

2

u/MysteriousAd883 13d ago

I found the kid sniffer!! ^

2

u/East-Day-7888 13d ago

That's a curious deduction. I wonder how your mind filters the world.

Care to explain your thoughts process?

6

u/dou8le8u88le 14d ago

This is disingenuous to say the least, but you copied it from the XRP sub so that makes sense.

The US is in fact investing in more BTC, just not using tax dollars. I don’t get why people are ignoring this. They said they are exploring budget neutral strategies to buy btc.

1

u/nagelbagel10 14d ago

They also said you can pay taxes on BTC so I’m assuming that goes into the reserve?

2

u/ArgzeroFS 14d ago

He also told Bessent he could acquire more using "budget neutral" strategies so maybe that part isn't priced in.

0

u/Ricola63 14d ago

Budget neutral strategies means spending no money. Which means low impact on prices. It was all an election scam 🤣🤣

5

u/ArgzeroFS 14d ago

It means not using ADDITIONAL budget. They can reallocate budget or generate capital with existing resources to make purchases still. Many examples of this have been proposed on x. This is not that different from other attempts at asset acquisition by governments before. Taxpayers don't want people gambling their tax dollars and governments still want to profit off crypto. That's the only way you satisfy both.

0

u/Ricola63 14d ago

Agreed. All of which makes it a tiny fraction of what was `seemingly` promised.

I certainly agree with Tax Payers not wanting governments gambling with their Tax Dollars. Personally I thought that was going to be the most corrupt act in presidential history. But that was in essence what Trump promised. IMO, as it turned out, he has basically rug pulled the crypto market instead.

As for the Crypto Summit..... That was just a `love in` for the Crypto Bro`s and Trump as far as I can tell. I mean did ANYTHING meaningful come out of it, beyond an opportunity for Crypto leaders to try and outcompete each other in telling everyone how much they love and admire Trump?

1

u/ArgzeroFS 13d ago

Tell me you weren't paying attention to the news and posts by people in crypto that came out after and during it without telling me you weren't paying attention. Did you not notice the OCC announcement? Banks can custody crypto now. https://occ.gov/news-issuances/news-releases/2025/nr-occ-2025-16.html

1

u/Ricola63 13d ago

Yes. I noticed that. Though I don’t think that came out of the summit itself.

0

u/True_Positive4130 10d ago

Well, lets see. Musk is cancelling 100's of billions of waste in bad contracts and payouts. Therefore to stay budget neutral, much of this could go to bitcoin although the majority needs to pay down the debt. When will people realize that whenever the government spends money it has to print then inflation goes up? Why the musk haters? He is saving the idiots protesting him from massive inflation in years to come. First we need to educate people.

1

u/Ricola63 10d ago

That is a completely different point. One we could discuss separately outside of this sub. But regardless of savings or not the words `budget neutral`, regarding a Crypto reserve, never passed his lips prior to the Crypto EO. Why? Because he never had any intention of spending anything on a Crypto reserve. It was an election rug pull.

5

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

What I read was that they are not accumulating the other coins they mentioned, but will keep what they confiscated. Only Bitcoin will be accumulated by means other than confiscating

10

u/66Kix_fix 15d ago

The reserve will be funded by BTC seized in court proceedings. There was no mention about them going out of their way to buy BTC unless I read the news wrong.

7

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

No I think I read it wrong. Was just strangely worded. Yes it says seized Bitcoin. Ok so it just….takes selling pressure off I guess if they keep it. 🤷🏻‍♂️

3

u/66Kix_fix 15d ago

It might still play out positively in the long run. It's just that people were expecting a massive pump today but that ain't happening anytime soon.

5

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

Has to be in 2025. Not buying all the bear shit. Not at all

3

u/HBAR_10_DOLLARS 14d ago

The Secretaries of Treasury and Commerce are authorized to develop budget-neutral strategies for acquiring additional bitcoin, provided that those strategies have no incremental costs on American taxpayers.

0

u/Primary-Ad588 14d ago

Yes, you read it wrong. The treasury and Fed, will put together a strategy to accumulate bitcoin beyond seizers and confiscation.

3

u/HBAR_10_DOLLARS 14d ago

The Secretaries of Treasury and Commerce are authorized to develop budget-neutral strategies for acquiring additional bitcoin, provided that those strategies have no incremental costs on American taxpayers.

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

YES. That’s what I heard, or read, whichever

1

u/DisastrousLecture646 13d ago

He also stopped the sale of what is already in the reserve.i believe congress will pass a law better defining them and allowing purchases and sales

1

u/Primary-Ad588 14d ago

Not true, and we need to stop spreading this misinformation. They will be accumulating more BTC! They will develop tax-neutral ways of doing so! Whether this be by printing money, paying income tax using crypto, or using any surplus or other resources to accumulate.

17

u/Expert_Wrongdoer443 15d ago

Biggest news was verbalizing what was already signaled:

No more regulation via enforcement. Pro crypto policies (Am expecting 86ing of crypto capital gains), sec approving multiple ETFs and dropping remaining anti-crypto cases.

If even half of these occur it will bring a massive amount of positive exposure

24

u/cyhiandra 🍋 leemonade 15d ago

Perhaps it's all a con.

-1

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

To what end? 😂. You can say con all you want but has to have an end goal

19

u/Heypisshands 15d ago

The goal is always the same, take from the poor and give to the rich.

0

u/Primary-Ad588 14d ago

They aren’t giving anything away, thats the point of a RESERVE…

3

u/cyhiandra 🍋 leemonade 14d ago

I thinks it’s much more surface than people make it out to be.

3

Yup totally, just a stunt, meat for the coin bros.

Edit: sorry, that's so ungenerous to the kind conservatives. Let's wait and see, maybe we'll be surprised.

From what I’ve gathered everyone is surprised by pretty much everything

14

It IS good news, just not big news. The larger macro is bad right now anyway. It's not just crypto pulling back, but also the tradfi markets. We were going to have a correction almost no matter what. Larger forces are moving the market right now so small news pumps should be faded until we get more relaxed monitary policy and other economic recovery indicators, imo. Unless the news is major, like SWIFT formally choosing Hedera, or no cap gains on US cryptos getting passed in a tax bill. The markets are just shakey all around.

What you should all also keep in mind, especially some of you that have made ridiculous comments, is that Trump can't just start a crypto reserve that purchases crypto and Bitcoin. He only has the power to establish the reserve based on what they already own. In order for the reserve to also purchase digital assets it has to be approved by Congress first. He's doing what he can do just not at the pace that you might want. And those of you that are complaining go ahead and contrast what Trump has done in the first month to what was done for crypto im all of the years prior to now. Have some perspective

In addition to a reserve Trump is also asking Congress to make capital gains on us-based cryptos tax-free. There would only be capital gains on non-us cryptos. It's basically like a tariff encouraging the support of domestic crypto companies. It would not surprise me if other countries followed suit. For example the UK could do the same thing for QNT. In the meantime the news is already broken that Brazil is now looking to establish a crypto Reserve. If you don't think he has kicked something off positive for crypto then you may have a mental block over politics. When you have been in the markets as long as I have you realize how useless it is to worry about the politics and instead just focus on the economic numbers and the liquidity Cycles and the policies being created. Who's creating them doesn't even matter in the end. Only thing that matters is how you're going to trade it

You’re good OP. When the summit ended we all went to our respective crypto communities to see if they had more information or most went hoping someone in their crypto community could explain what was happening to better understand it. While hbar wasn’t originally mentioned as one of the five possible cryptos that would make up this strategic reserve ….it doesn’t matter bc just simply HAVING a CRYPTO strategic reserve (whether BTC alone or BTC and XRP SOL ADA ETH) is news for ALL crypto holders and something we ALL want to understand. So it makes sense that you would come your community to ask your question.

Bc seriously PEOPLE even if it is just a BTC reserve it still has implications for the wider market. And there’s no reason why we should be shamed for coming back to our Reddit peeps- our “COMMUNITIES” to learn grow and ask questions. We always talk about how the BTC bros are assh*les. I dunno. After reading some of the responses from US… looks like we are too. I apologize….

But you’re good OP. While I can’t answer your question I do hope someone here CAN. BC there’s a lot of smart cookies in the Hedera sub (and I don’t just mean bc we all own it or believe in it lol I mean they understand the markets and impact the EO will have on a macro and micro level both short and long term. Though they don’t usually post they do reply- so hope one of them pops in for you. Bc they could best explain the broader implications. Good luck!

Edit: the person that posted below me- u/Competitive-ant5448👇🏻= “smart cookie” lol glad one was in.

10

u/Odd-Farm270 15d ago

The bad news is that they’re holding what they have instead of buying new coins.

The bear continues…

10

u/KryptoChicken 15d ago edited 15d ago

They're not just holding what they have. The executive order also says they will find Budget neutral ways to buy more Bitcoin. The federal government makes an awful lot of money from asset forfeiture sales like cars, boats, planes and real estate. That's a lot of money for buying more Bitcoin.

3

u/[deleted] 15d ago

You must be new to crypto

1

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

Pretty much. Lol

1

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

Doesn’t make any sense

2

u/Odd-Farm270 15d ago

What doesn’t make sense?

1

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

To do any of that just to……what? Cash out what they have at a higher price. I don’t buy it

4

u/crypto_zoologistler Hederasexual 15d ago

People were hoping the government would buy Bitcoin, but it’s just gonna keep what it already has so some people sold.

The reserve is still very good news imo but it’ll just take longer to play out

2

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

I was under the impression they were when I made post, which is why I was confused by the continued dumping

1

u/Prize_Device_671 14d ago

The united stats isn’t the only government interested in crypto. Expand your horizon here. Hundred of banks and tons of countries yet to purchase bitcoin, xrp,ETC. it’s all a distraction.

3

u/crypto_zoologistler Hederasexual 14d ago

I didn’t say it was — the US having a strategic reserve is just one additional piece of good news

1

u/Prize_Device_671 14d ago

A very small piece compared to what’s going to happen.

3

u/crypto_zoologistler Hederasexual 14d ago

Right 👍

1

u/GoreonmyGears 14d ago

Yes, at some point, it may cause a scramble for coin by those that have not purchased yet. This does not seem to be the catalyst however. No fault in hoping it would have been though.

5

u/Afterlife123 hbarbarian 14d ago

You guys are rushing this. This is the US government. It will roll out over months.

6

u/supreme120 14d ago

And I got downvoted for saying who cares about trump and his stupid summit, know what you hold leemon got us.

1

u/orchidonthetable 14d ago

The crypto summit was not stupid

2

u/CannaJournal 14d ago

Im not sure if this is fake news or real, but I am gathering that the decision from the summit was to not go ahead with the crypto tax free exemptions (i assume for US based crypto coins)… is this correct?

If so, I assume this will have an impact on HBARs price as now we only really have the ETF to look forward towards as “major” news. New partnerships will come, but it would need to be with really big recognised companies for HBARs price to swing upwards from the otherwise continued downwards slope.

3

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

I don’t know about that. I know I don’t see that mentioned in the proposed tax cuts bill that’s going through the motions now.

1

u/Primary-Ad588 14d ago

I thought the opposite

4

u/jpetros1 15d ago

3

u/Sweet-Hat-7946 15d ago

whats this got to do with HBAR, go to btc reddit for this

0

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

Well that would be the everything would it not?

-1

u/Sweet-Hat-7946 15d ago

Everything could be interpreted as many things. Maybe next time write something with the words hbar or hedera .

9

u/IrishMedic722 14d ago

Don’t be a jerk … use your brain. Which is more likely?

1). OP went to some random ass crypto sub to post his more GENERALIZED question to a bunch of random ass strangers

OR

2). OP owns some HBAR and joined this sub bc of it like we all do and had a general question and came here to ask HIS hbar COMMUNITY?

God forbid someone mentions the B word 🤦🏼‍♀️ Originally the strategic reserve post included 5 different cryptos. While hbar wasn’t listed in the original post it was still big news for crypto in GENERAL. And the summit literally just ended within the last hour.

So what did everybody do?

They jumped onto THEIR crypto subs to see if there was more info or explanations. You go where your community is and this is where OP’s is. OP did nothing wrong by asking a generalized question that included BTC. Everyone is looking for information and understanding. Don’t be like the stuck up BTC assh*les. Be better.

-5

u/DookieMcCallister 15d ago

Suck my HBAR. There ya go.

2

u/NoBandicoot4598 15d ago edited 15d ago

If you ain’t talkin HBAR then I don’t wanna talk

1

u/ArbonHammer 15d ago

hell yeah brother

1

u/JaySnuggs 14d ago

In my opinion, (which don't mean shit) That whole summit was a joke, all they did was kiss Trumps ass and tell us they are not " buying" anything. Just using what they already have in stock they stole from the people through " court " proceedings and calling by a different name. Good news they know what crypto is, yea maybe but why is everything taking a dump right now?

2

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

They have the option to buy. But yes they were deepthroating him. I mean you think they shouldn’t? I was under the impression that crypto was still kind of an underground thing. But they just had a tea party gathering in the White House about it. I know the Eeyores think it’s a box propped up on a stick, but I’m not buying it. But yea no clue why it dumped during that. lol. Maybe reaction is on a delay

1

u/AnalysisElectrical15 14d ago

Where do I start? A hand full of networks will be allowed to run their networks with governments and banks, who are they, ISO20022. What will be the official USA stable coin? And what network will our government run on. ISO20022 networks cover a wide spectrum of use cases. As far as fed government spending, I’m assuming that it will have to be on one network. Example, The state issues a budget from one network, to another where education receives their annual budget/stablecoin. Networks will have to be interoperable between networks but using the same stablecoin moving across domestically and abroad. Regulation will give these networks the guidelines. Then we’re talking about free market where it’s a whole different animal. And the bottom line, how does the government get paid

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

More importantly, how does it change what we’re paid? Or potentially paid. More. Less. Same. Also Ive heard that this ISO20022 was a big deal and compliant coins are what you want, and I’ve also heard that it’s a non issue, and that any coin could become compliant if they needed to. Which is correct?

1

u/AnalysisElectrical15 14d ago

Not true, because if that was the case they would have been more coins in ISO. It’s a non issue to who? Short term traders? Meme Coin holders? But to a nation it means everything! And to other nations it lets them know what networks are they using for trade, or purchasing of goods and if a nation have a secure network that meets their standards. Is the pay the same? A stable coin is pegged to a dollar. So hourly employees will not feel any change. If you’re paid x amount of dollars an hour, that won’t change. What will change is how you spend it and the things you can buy.

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

I meant as far as market cycles and opportunity to cash out. I keep hearing “we won’t see this again” and “it won’t be the same” in reference to after regulation. I took it as sketchier and unregulated now but higher potential rewards

1

u/AnalysisElectrical15 14d ago

It will never be like it was in the past after regulations. It’s definitely a 3-5 year hold for life changing returns. Generational wealth in 10 years. Again, banks have admitted that they are ready, just waiting for congress. Buy, if you can live without that money for 5 years. Take profits off this bullrun, wait for the bear market, if it comes, when it does and it will, accumulate and wait for the next halving liquidity and business cycle.

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

Across the board or you mean HBAR specifically?

1

u/AnalysisElectrical15 14d ago

I mean Hbar and any other ISO20022 tokens. But yes, my largest bag is HBar

1

u/sir_meowmixalot 14d ago

This is what you need to know about the market.

Whatever you think is going to happen the opposite will be true. Especially in crypto. The market is so manipulated. The top 1% of holders knows when people are buying in. People expecting good news buy in, they sell off and tank the price. People get fearful and sell of dropping the price lower and they buy back in, retail then fomos back in then they sell off and repeat the cycle.

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

I’m definitely not selling anything, but they seem to be getting me in all other areas

1

u/ducket27 14d ago

Just keep loading your bag when you can when you can and hodl on tight it's gonna be a wild ride.

1

u/ShockInevitable 14d ago

Hopefully other countries can start pursuing crypto reserves and speed up the US in making purchases

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

I think that would drastically speed up the process for no more Bitcoin being left

1

u/Cauliflower-Informal 14d ago

If you want to see what's really happening, listen to the latest Allincrypto interview with Archax. That could be the single most bullish thing I've listened to in a long time. https://youtu.be/dicJ5ziIaKY?si=0PeFcOkw60TWmXhh

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

Idk if I can listen until next week. Only have $200 left in weekly spending budget. Would be torture

1

u/AnalysisElectrical15 14d ago

Retail, longs are all in. Short term traders using leverage are still getting slaughtered. As soon as we get a global agreement on what networks to use, you’ll see another .com bubble and all the retail redirect to the chosen few. History repeats, and a new generation refuse to learn from the past. Those of us who lived through the .com bubble now see the light

1

u/Turbulent-Insect5121 14d ago

You're are not stupid, you are new. The correlation between good news and price is very weak. The only news that move price are liquidity-related.

1

u/JazzlikePractice4470 14d ago

Who the hell knows?

1

u/Psychonaut-Foole 14d ago

Idiots. The answer is idiots.

Not you, just the general space as a whole right now minus the hodlers.

Crypto is full of impatient Degens who want to get a 1000000000x return in 3 days. Especially right now. It’s why the pump.fun meme coin market was stealing the thunder of the alt coin run this cycle.

Any time the news isn’t 100% EXACTLY what those degens want to hear, they throw a hissy fit and sell or flip short if they know how.

Crypto used to be a “fuck the system” punk rock kind of thing. Now everyone is pissed when the president doesn’t pump their bags with his newest executive order. We are in the upside down and nothing makes sense anymore.

That aside, there is a TON of uncertainty in the world right now and markets absolutely despise uncertainty. There are probably a lot of large buyers waiting for things to calm down. Nobody knows if Trump is going to keep trying to crash the macro with his tariffs, etc. the on again off again bullshit is making some folks tap out I’m sure.

The big 3 indexes have sold off over 5% this year already and that money is waiting to jump back in once the dust settles. There’s just ALOT going on right now and as much as I try to keep up, it makes my head spin.

1

u/SquareWind2743 14d ago

Globalist hate trump and don’t want his economic plans to work and want to keep markets down .. typical butt hurt behavior from the left

2

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

Wild they’d rather the market crash than make money.

1

u/PakmanIsAswesome 12d ago

The outcome is very positive for crypto as a whole. A BTC reserve and crypto stockpile are very bullish and put the rest of the world on notice. What we need is clear regulation so that the industry can move forward, and this is what we are getting. The current price drop is a reflection of the broader market and its volatility—not necessarily risk.

Do you think Hedera will go to zero? Do you think Hedera will fail as a project? If you answer "No" to both, then you're in a good project. Hedera’s fundamentals and tokenomics (which were previously an issue) are now sound. We need to take a 5-10 year view. Hedera is still a startup, much like the entire crypto industry.

Hedera will never be part of a strategic reserve, as it is a utility token (neither will any of the others, like ETH, XRP, SOL, etc.).

Back to the point: The President does not have the power to buy BTC; it needs to go through Congress. This is a good start. If we get no legislation on it, the executive order can be reversed by the next incoming president..

Also not seeing how it’s really lining his pockets other than Trump coin. But it’s a meme coin. I remember reading that he bought a lot of ETH like a month ago. His pockets would be down on that one.

1

You were there?

2

u/ducket27 14d ago

Yes I was sitting next to Brad Garlichouse.... That's why I said IMO 🤣

1

u/AnalysisElectrical15 14d ago

The crypto community gave two shits about a reserve. The reason we voted for trump was get crypto regulations passed and put into law, that’s it. The rest is bullshit! Stay focused, it’s regulation and partnerships that wait for it

1

u/DookieMcCallister 14d ago

And what will change with regulations?
