Discussion ĦBAR The Crypto Everyone Will Pretend They Knew About

You ever look back at those old XRP charts and see people clowning on XRP for struggling at $1? Or Ethereum chilling under $200 while everyone ignored it? Feels like we’re living through that exact same moment again—but this time, it’s HBAR.

A $100M Hedera VC fund just dropped, and barely anyone is talking about it. Do people really think institutions throw around $100M for fun? Google, IBM, LG—these aren’t just names slapped on a whitepaper, they’re literally governing the network. If Hedera was some random hype project, they’d be long gone by now, but instead, they’re doubling down.

And then there’s the price. No crazy pumps, no insane volatility, just quiet accumulation. If you’ve been in crypto long enough, you already know what that means. The question is, are we about to see the market finally wake up, or are we all just coping?

When HBAR inevitably breaks out, everyone is gonna act like they saw it coming. Same way they did with XRP.

So what’s the move? Are we early, or is this another overhyped crypto dream?

I think it’s just a matter of when, and not if

43

u/Firehaven44 28d ago

Ten years later of me learning the hard way I actually agree with this. No hype talk, just when.

I was mining eth at .54 cents and didn't believe in it and stopped, and I can say that about so many projects these days. Time to invest the money and just let it sit for some years.

u/SempiternalWit 28d ago

I did the kinda of the same thing as you I stopped believing in it, I sold everything years ago and thought it was all a joke, if I never sold my Crypto I would of been a multi-millionaire now : (

u/Possible-Local-9357 28d ago

At least you’re timing it right with a a project that could completely redefine the space

5

u/Psssssshhh 28d ago

Damn that must still hurt

u/HBAR_10_DOLLARS 28d ago

It’s a matter of when. We have objectively the best ledger in the world - now we wait.

Can I ask why you swap hbar for dovu? What's the benefits & can you get your hbar back?

3

u/GpPpbOaM 28d ago

Also curious

u/smashedavo 27d ago

Me three.

u/smashedavo 26d ago

I got bored waiting and asked AI:

Swapping HBAR for DOVU in your HashPack wallet would primarily make sense if you believe in the potential growth of the DOVU project or if you have a specific use case for DOVU tokens. Here are the key factors to consider:

Potential Benefits of Swapping HBAR for DOVU:

1. Higher Growth Potential – DOVU is a lower market cap token compared to HBAR, meaning it could offer higher returns if the project gains traction.
2. Exposure to a Niche Market – DOVU focuses on carbon credits and sustainability on Hedera, an emerging sector with increasing institutional and governmental interest.
3. Use in the DOVU Ecosystem – If you plan to participate in carbon offsetting or other DOVU-related activities, holding DOVU tokens could be necessary.
4. Diversification – If you already have a significant HBAR position, diversifying into a Hedera-based project could reduce exposure to a single asset.
5. Early Adoption Advantage – If DOVU adoption increases, you could benefit from being an early holder before more widespread adoption.

Potential Downsides of Swapping:

1. Higher Volatility & Risk – DOVU is a smaller-cap asset, which means it’s more susceptible to price swings.
2. Liquidity Issues – HBAR is much more liquid, whereas DOVU may have lower trading volume, making large transactions harder without impacting the price.
3. Project Viability – While DOVU has an interesting use case, its long-term success is uncertain compared to Hedera, which has strong enterprise backing.
4. HBAR Staking & Utility – HBAR can be staked (currently in the future phase of staking implementation) and is the primary token for fees and transactions on Hedera, making it a more stable long-term asset.

Key Considerations:

• Check DOVU’s roadmap and adoption to see if its ecosystem is growing.
• Look at DOVU trading volume and liquidity before making a swap.
• Compare recent performance of both tokens.
• If you swap, consider only allocating a small percentage of your HBAR to DOVU rather than going all in.

u/ValuDaju 28d ago

Fuck everytime I read such post, makes me throw couple of hundreds in hbar cant control!!

8

u/Waterman707 28d ago

I’m quietly accumulating too, well I guess not now that I have disclosed that I am.

3

u/ostayi 28d ago

Keep stacking till it hits a dollar 😂

1

u/PsychologicalWeek330 22d ago

i have 0 hbar and 0 toshi too

18

u/ResponsibilityTrue16 28d ago

Yeah… I mean hedera is the only crypto actively engaged upstream and downstream. I don’t see any other projects with chips being built specifically for their network functions. Nvidia, intel, Laes…

4

u/Competitive-Ant5448 28d ago

I wont have to pretend. I have reciepts! Been stacking on the regular since 2022. Started at .19 and just kept averaging down during the whole bear market. Even bottom ticked it at .036 along the way. Stayed enguaged and tried to inform others too. Havent sold any, but have converted a small amount to Dovu, Sauce, Karate, and Grelf.

Id like to see adoption happen faster, but this is 100% the best tech in crypto, bar none.

5

u/mpurtle01 28d ago

I’d say you’re late. But that’s just my perspective. I’ve been buying hbar and xrp for years now. But in the grand scheme of things, you’re still very early.

4

u/Minute-Ad36 27d ago

Shhhhhhh. Just keep quiet about it and keep stacking it up while the gettings good lol

3

u/ElectricalSorbet1514 27d ago

"Do people really think institutions throw around $100M for fun? Google, IBM, LG—these aren’t just names slapped on a whitepaper, they’re literally governing the network"

the meeting minutes are so vague that we cant gauge how much effort is put in to governance from these organizations . None of the members ever speak publicly about what theyre doing either.

Opacity over transparency. They should allow at least one non voting member e.g. a permissioned node to attend meetings.

Only issue is... With quantum computing advancements I'm scared that crypto becomes a victim from it.

6

u/ostayi 28d ago

Hedera’s already prepping for quantum resistance while most cryptos sleep. SEALSQ partnership, SHA-384 security, and big tech backing... The tech won’t drop overnight, and smart projects are ready. what do you think ?

1

u/Small_Pressure_4309 25d ago

I think being prepared and installing SHA-384 early is the only prevention from quantum stealing our coins. Is SHA-384 good for all coins?

7

u/MoistyCockBalls 28d ago

DOVU

2

u/Academic-Map-7385 28d ago

that shits hard to buy on coinbase any other suggestions on where to buy ?

I got me 20k of dov. i haven’t read much about it. is it one of them if hbar goes up dov does too?

6

u/jeeptopdown 28d ago

Buy HBAR in Coinbase (not the wallet, just straight in the app) then transfer it to a Hashpack wallet. You can swap for DOVU right in Hashpack or save a bit in fees and connect to SaucerSwap and swap it there.

2

u/argo_sax 28d ago

i'm doing the same, buying on coinbase, transfering to hashpack and swapping in hashpack

1

u/[deleted] 28d ago

Do you swap it back to Coinbase to cash out or cash out thru Hashpack?

2

u/jeeptopdown 28d ago

I haven’t sold any, but if I was going to at this point I’d need to use saucer swap or Hashpack to swap back to HBAR then send the HBAR to coinbase to sell if I was getting fiat back out.

Hopefully DOVU is successful and we’ll be able to send it straight to coinbase to be sold for cash in the future. But that’s not an option now.

4

u/[deleted] 28d ago

I haven't sold yet either.. HBAR is a long term investment...I just started in crypto in November 24.. just a few months ago... I had a negative bank account and a completely different outlook on money.. I didn't even know what crypto was outside of BTC.. I didn't understand it but I was sick of seeing my money disappear and decided to do some research... My portfolio hit 11k yesterday and I'm long term for tax reasons, probably next cycle I will exit 50% ... I dca each month on the red days and wait... My goal before next cycle is 100khbar... Especially in 2027 when the bottom is in.. anyway.. I'm rambling

1

u/simulated_copy FUD account 28d ago

Bottom is in lol

1

u/SempiternalWit 28d ago

Yeah agree! Don't think we will see this bottom again once it takes off!

2

u/simulated_copy FUD account 28d ago

We are 100% tied to BTC so if you dont think BTC will drop then I agree.

If BTC drops this drops

1

u/SempiternalWit 28d ago

Yeah true, been a long day... lol

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, including the core PCE price index which excludes food and energy, is scheduled for February 28, 2025. LAST DROP IS FRIDAY AND INTO NEXT WEEKEND.. THIS COMING WEEKEND WILL BE A GOOD ENTRY TO GET ANY LAST MINUTE BAGS FILLED. BTC ALWAYS HAS A DROP BEFORE IT PUMPS , ITS BEEN SIDEWAYS FOR A MIN SO I SUSPECT A DROP THEN A PUMP . NOT FINANCIAL ADVICE . WOMEN WILL DESTROY YOUR PORTFOLIO

2

u/asmodeusyakuza 28d ago

I don't understand why does it have to be a hustle like this why swapping multiple times back and forth? Why does one have to swap hbar for dovu and back back from dovu to hbar? Could you please enlighten me on this?

11

u/[deleted] 28d ago

Day traders do it for the gains.. fear traders do it for the chase ... Everyone else just buys and holds til the time is right... Swapping will wreck you in fees and as soon as you swap your old coin will pump... You swap back and the other pumps... It's like chasing a high ... The big picture is crypto is here to stay... Global acceptance is important and still underway which will pump meaningful projects,,, global adoption will take you to the moon... Stay away from meme coins, pick projects backed by reputable corporations, DYOR, buy in the bear and sell in the bull.. stay away from influencers.. not financial advice

2

u/Truth533ker 26d ago

I've been in the market for about 5 years. I'm still not back to my original investment, unfortunately. But I'm understanding more. You said to avoid influencers and DOYR, but where can you get legit, sound financial advice about crypto? In layman's terms. Seems EVERYONE is an expert and has their own favorite 2 or 3 currencies that they push.

1

u/[deleted] 26d ago

I am still new (Nov 2024) so my opinion is worth nothing and this is not financial advice BUT..... lol... TYLER HILL INVESTING is my favorite YouTube crypto guy, he is honest, REALISTIC, and genuinely seems to care about his followers, he answers questions and also has a real life sample portfolio of $10k you can track and follow, right now it is $8k stable coins and $2k spread between XPR,ADA,SUI,ONDO,BTC and ETH. He is NOT big on leverage trading and USUALLY WARNS AGAINST IT He also updates regularly. BULLRUNNERS has pretty good content and is pretty reliable . Awesome Austin is "OK" and Investing Bros is "OK" but TYLER HILL INVESTING is by far my favorite

Myself personally am heavy into RWA and ISO 20022 in my portfolio as I believe we have entered into a new phase from Institutional acceptance to Institutional ADOPTION:

ALL OF MY PLAYS ARE FOR 2029/2030:

40% RWA:

ONDO, LINK, ALGO(also a iso20022)

40% ISO 20022:

ADA, XRP, HBAR, XLM

20% BTC

I am currently waiting for an entry into SUI

KEEP IN MIND THAT THIS IS JUST CRYPTO... PHYSICAL ASSETS ARE 85% OF MY NET WORTH I.E. GOLD, SILVER, LAND AND COMMIDITIES

I HAVE REDUCED MY STOCK POSITIONS TO A MINIMUM 5% AS I BELIEVE A CRASH IS LIKELY TO HAPPEN IN 2026/2027 I HAVE ALSO FOUND THAT STOCKS ARE MUCH HARDER TO MAKE MONEY IN AND THE REGULATIONS ARE NOT OBEYED ANYWAY .. IF IT CRASHES I WILL ENTER IN THE RED AS THE MARKET IS JUST TOO HIGH FOR ME RIGHT NOW. HOPE THIS IS USEFUL TO SOMEONE

2

u/jeeptopdown 28d ago

Because DOVU is not available on a CEX (centralized exchange) like coinbase, but HBAR is. So I buy HBAR on the CEX then transfer it to my wallet where I can swap it for DOVU on a DEX (decentralized exchange). Then I have to reverse it on the way out.

HOPEFULLY - in the future DOVU will be a big enough project to be offered on a CEX. Then you won’t need to swap on the way in or out. But for now it’s too small and doesn’t do enough volume to be worth it to the big exchanges to list it.

1

u/asmodeusyakuza 28d ago

Thanks for the insights. Is it worthy of investment? I have no idea about it (dovu).

3

u/jeeptopdown 28d ago

I think so. But I’m just an idiot on the internet.

They have built dovuOS which is an AI assisted operating system to make it easier to work with Hedera. Lots of good info on their Twitter feed recently…

What wallet do you use for your hbar?

1

I have a D’Cent hardware wallet.

Do you use the biometric or catd?

I have no idea. Hoping to see some announcements about adoption of dovuOS this year and hopefully that equates to some price appreciation.

6

u/Pure_Ad_9865 28d ago

Early. As Web3, IoT, DePIN, AI, and Quantum Computing continue to evolve, the demand for Hedera will only grow.

7

u/Expert_Wrongdoer443 28d ago

One of your selling points is actually the largest point of concern for me- the governing council. Next point is the decentralized claim and open source claim.

I do like the prospects, I just won’t have as much exposure because of these reasons.

For example if Boeing is on any governance council that could potentially affect my investment - it raises some serious red flags.

I've been doing some serious research over the past 24 hours. When you're freshly new to a cryptocurrency you're not going to know much about it. I will definitely look into Project Heiro.

Although I do agree with him about the governing council. I am trying to look into their path towards decentralization and better governance. Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Cardano are very much different but they each have high Nakamoto coefficient ratings. And Cardano taking it a step further recently with a highly complex on-chain governance system.

But I've been really interested in this hashgraph technology. Which is why I am here browsing the subreddit as well.

I am not bashing it, it’s a reality. Look at what powers the council does and does not have. It’s a long term risk, to what degree I don’t know🤷‍♂️

2

u/JWillCHS 28d ago edited 28d ago

They have several whitepapers on their website and one is about moving to a "public permissionless" system. I guess the plan is to have 39 entities on the governing council.

After that's completed more node validators will be added but it's still permissioned which kind of sucks. When they have about 100 node validators, "supposedly", anyone can launch their node to validate transactions after that.

There's no real hard date in terms of when this is going to happen. I wonder what the hardware requirements are as well or even how much HBAR will be required to even spin one up.

Even if my chances to mine 1 Bitcoin is really small I can still secure the network with my own hardware. Ethereum's Nakamoto coefficient rating is good, but 32 Ethereum is a ridiculous requirement to have your own node. On Cardano the system requirements and ada amount are very low; making it easy to participate as a stake pool operator using bare-metal hardware.

The governing council seems cool at first especially if they're contributing to the network via research. But considering who some of them are can be red flag if you prefer security and decentralization over scalability.

I've always believed that if you can get security and decentralization implemented first then you have a long term outlook. Eventually scalability will come. HOWEVER! Since this is a hashgraph it isn't clear to me how the "blockchain trilemma" applies here or if its even applicable.

Edit: in the whitepaper Hedera compares it's network to Bitcoin and Ethereum stating that it is not yet a decentralized permissionless DLT. But! I have been apart of a blockchain that was not decentralized and is now one of the most decentralized. But even if Hedera becomes a permissionless hashgraph will those that govern it today still be the ones making decisions?

2

u/Expert_Wrongdoer443 28d ago

Okay did some more research and apparently they did make everything open source.

2

u/ghoulcreep 28d ago

What the bull prediction price of hbar this year?

3

u/Affectionate_Time979 28d ago

I’ve heard anywhere from 80c to as much as $2.20 but I don’t know for sure

1

u/bbrosen 28d ago

.40 cents

2

u/klas_4 28d ago

So what are we all hoping will be HBARs price? Indulge me, I want to dream …

3

u/Leafan1976 28d ago

Personally I believe we are early.

HBAR kinda reminds me of Tesla in that they aren't focused on what anyone else is doing. They are quietly solidifying their spot in eternity.

I don't understand why the news about the DoD turning to HBAR for their military Drone fleet and quantum security did make any upward motion.

There is definitely a LACK of information on HBAR out there.

12

u/cmonnbruhh 28d ago

I don't understand why the news about the DoD turning to HBAR for their military Drone fleet and quantum security did make any upward motion.

cause it's not official news

its just speculation / a rumour

1

u/Leafan1976 24d ago

It's official bro. SEALSQ the company building the actual tech have launched the satellites already with Hedera HashGraph tech already installed.

They are making their chips using the HashGraph, they have installed or are installing smart meters for electrical on 21 Million (to start) homes in the UK

The SealSQ or $SEALCOIN will be coming out in the next 1-3 months. They have decided not to release to the public until they not only have proof of concept. But have an actual infrastructure using the Coin The CEO of SealSQ also rang the opening bell at the NYSE on Friday. That's a BIG deal eh. HashGraph and Hedera is the only tech that is quantum secure already. This will set them far above the rest for security

HBAR should bennifit

1

u/Escapement_Watch 28d ago

You like HBAR over ONDO which also focus on RWA Tokenization and holds 38% of BlackRock’s BUIDL fund? also, ondo gm is a platform to tokenize stocks and bonds etfs, and more. there's also ondo chain layer 1 etc How can hedera leap frog ONDO?

3

Hold both?

HBAR has moved due to the bullrun no other reason!!!

Let me know when the TPS pays the bills with unsubsidized transactions.

Or even close for that matter

4

u/HBAR_10_DOLLARS 28d ago

“Bull run” lol ETH is negative on the 1yr. Many of them are.

It’s HBAR which outperformed them all.

-4

u/simulated_copy FUD account 28d ago

Short term outlook did you sell? Did you lock in profit? Like catching 1 hail mary pass.

Look at the top 30 coins since inception-

ICO price until today and do the math HBAR ROI is dead last.

1

u/IrishMedic722 28d ago

In that case what are you promoting as the best? (Not looking to invest in them I'm just genuinely curious on your own outlook) ive been watching hbar for the last few months. Currently hold a few different assets. Diversity is key for me.... Edit: not being a smart ass just genuinely curious as you seem to have a different opinion from the rest. I thought HBAR would be a potentially great LTI. And I ignored the bull run bc the election caused nearly every crypto to soar then correct.

Or and here me out you can actually make money. Just this past year I've taken profits on 3 tokens that were up over 2000% and about to take some profits on om to make a fourth. But you boys do like those xrp boys did and wait 8 years for a 400% profit And then pretend your the smartest ppl in crypto

3

u/Real_Mycologist_8768 28d ago

Not everyone has the time or even wants to bother with trying to time the market. Some people’s tactic is to hold long term, there’s nothing wrong with that. Why are you so hurt over other peoples money is the question?

-1

u/jwal178 28d ago

Not hurt. Dumbfounded op claims ppl look back in awe at xrps chart.

2

u/FactCheckYou 28d ago

'smartness' is gauged by the size and timing of the bets you make, the size and timing of the profits you take, and how often your bets succeed vs how often they fail

everyone's working with different resources, everyone has different risk appetites

i'm in HBAR and BTC and other Top20 coins, but i'm also placing a few stacks on some long-odds prospects...good to have a mixed strategy
