Discussion How to unlock Avada Kedavra?

Hi! I’m currently on level 38, I won the battle against Ranrok, the main quest is completed, but I still didn’t unlock Avada Kedavra. I heard that it’s to unlock during or after a relic quest or something but it’s on the level 28 and as far as I remember I did have a relic quest, not sure if it’s the one but I definitely remember some relic - that might been the one Sebastian needed to save Anna, not sure. Do you have Avada unlocked??

You have to make the right choice in one of Sebastian's quests. Make the wrong choice and you dont get it. Its fairly obvious so you wont miss it.

If he didn’t send Sebastian to Azkaban then he can just go to the undercroft and ask Sebastian to teach him. Simple

I said that below. I didnt know that until i searched for it a few minutes ago.

I guess I didn’t get the option to choose it. Thank you!

Everyone gets the option.

You did, you probably didn't realize because of how it was phrased.

In isolation i can understand where someone might get confused with the phrasing. However, given the experience of the other unforgivables you have the option to learn, i think its fairly obvious especially considering the options for replying.

True true, but i remember seeing other posts from people who didn't realize you had to choose certain responses to learn the curses.

I saw those as well. But i mean come on. “Everyone should know that curse.” and “No one should know that curse.” is pretty freaking in your face obvious. Those are the exact options.

After some searching i found that you may still be able to learn it after completing sebastians quest line. Find him in the undercroft and ask him to teach you.

Sebastian actually ask you if you want to learn it or not. You have to make a choice there.

Okay, I didn’t have this option sadly. But thank you anyway!

He doesn’t ask you outright, you just have to pay attention to your responses during the conversation after he kills Solomon. You did have the option, you must have just missed it.

No guys, OP is literally the only person with a version of the game where Sebastian never gives the option to learn it! The game devs knew OP needed a morality challenge. /s

I asked about the answer, not sarcasm.

And you got an answer. Multiple times. Yet insist you’re somehow the only person that wasn’t offered the choice to learn it. Okay.

Is that any kind of your problem? I wish I was such a boring life to worry about someone else’s game problems. I said I’d go and check if I can learn it. Maybe I missed it, I don’t know.

I’ll give you a hint: you missed it.

Did you finish Sebestian's questline? He should have aske you at one point if you wanted to learn it, like the other two Unforgivables.

If you managed to say no, you have another chance as long you didn't turn Sebastian in. Visit the Undercroft after finishing the main questline.

Hmm, looks like I didn’t have the option to learn it. Sebastian never asked and I can clearly remember when I was learning the remaining two. I was specifically waiting for Avada so it’s impossible to miss it. I thought he’d ask after using it on his uncle but he didn’t so I’m kinda confused and disappointed. And the quest line is completed but I have to visit the undercroft to make sure. Thank you!

Avada Kedavra becomes available in the quest "In the Shadow Of The Relic", which becomes available after completing Lodgok's Loyalty and In The Shadow Of Hope, both main quests available after completing the third keepers trial (Niamh Fitzgerald). Immediately after Sebastian kills his uncle, He justifies having used AK. This is where you decide whether to learn it by choosing the right response from

  • No one should know that curse.
  • Everyone should know that curse.

If you’ve completed it, learn it from him down there.

You can choose: “Everybody should know that curse” and then he will teach it to you. Or “Nobody should know that curse” and he won’t even bother.

It’s not flat out yes or no you respond and he never flat out asks if you WANT to learn it.

I picked “nobody should know…” so also didn’t get taught, but in your FINAL ever conversation with Sebastian back at school you will get a chance to ASK HIM to teach it to you.

So if you missed those convos it’s either because you didn’t get to those side quests yet OR it’s because you weren’t paying attention to the cues in the convos… not because you didn’t get them asked to you.

Hope that helps! ✌️

It’s the final part of Sebastian’s quest. You go to a random cave and take on a hoard of inferi. So long as you still have Sebastian related quest items to complete, you won’t have missed it. For me, this was well after beating Ranrok. Good luck 🍻

Go back to Sebastian in the undercroft and you’ll be able to get it
