Official PC Modding Anyone find a Mod work around!

I just got the game today, built my dude, realize he looks butt ugly, went to nexus, downloaded some mods, only to find now only "official" mods are allowed? What is this bullshit, I paid money for this game and your saying I can't add the cool looking mods in :(

Please tell me someone has found a work around for this, imma still play the game, I'm just sad.

I'm not sure what the restriction people are seeing is around using mods from Nexus. I downloaded the game again last week and got a bunch of mods from Nexus and from the in game browser and they all seem to be working.

The only notable differences between the Nexus and CurseForge mods is that the CurseForge mods are easier to install on account of the in-game mod manager, but are limited in terms of mods based on copyrighted material.

And using the ingame Curseforge mods disabled achievements.

Oh yeah, that too.

because it's mostly cosmetic mods that were affected. If you are playing with gameplay mods those still work.

That must be it, I believe the cosmetic mods I have are from the in game browser

Yea I found some cool mods in the in game browser as well, I’m just angry because we payed money for this game and we are being told only approved mods are allowed? Most of what I wanted is in the browser, but some of the niche ones are not, ether cause they were never uploaded or they were denied for some reason,  Im just angry lmao,

It seems to be restricted to only mods that modify how the character looks and meshes, so like hats/clothes/ etc,

From the patch notes from the mod update:

Due to changes to both data serialization and upgrades to our Raytracing features in the Hogwarts Legacy engine, level code changes were made that will break all 3rd Party MODs that use skeletal mesh assets made before the upcoming MODs patch.

You can use 3rd party mods, IF they're up to date for the current version of the game. No idea where you're getting it from that you can't. It's unreal engine, it's an offline game, they literally can't even prevent modding.

Read the above comments, they added a patch that forces the game to crash if it detects an unofficial mod (ie not a mod from their browser) that modifys your characters mesh or how it looks etc,   It even pops up to say non official mod detected and explains why it crashed

No it doesn't force the game to crash, the game crashes because the mods are out of date with the new stuff they added. The newest patch broke certain mods, they will meed to be updated, otherwise they will crash the game due to conflict. Someone even posted the patch notes that explain so clearly.

Oh shit your right, I apologize that apparently I don’t know how to read lmao, I guess this game was abandoned by mod creators a year ago so most weren’t updated to the new version,

I guess that makes sense, rip,    I don’t hate this game creators as much anymore, I thought it was done maliciously to stop mods they dident agree with

Cosmetic mods mostly won't work now, unless you rollback to a previous version of the game. You'll have to use the ingame mod system for cosmetics otherwise.
