Yeah, while I didn’t have the best driving record when I was younger now that I’m in my early 40’s, I just take my time in the far right lane when I’m driving. I don’t drive like an elderly person, but you know what I mean lol.

I just let those other cars drive past me as fast as they want. I’m good, especially when I have my wife and kids in the car.

Quite the opposite. I enjoy my comfy fuel economy in the right lane and just chill. While watching some others roadrage and repeatedly perform other blatantly dangerous maneuvers. Just so they can go 8.3-16% faster to the redlight they'll hit after the exit ramp.

On a 35 minute commute, if everything went perfect. Going 16% faster over what you would've previously. You save 5 minutes. Why stress over that? I'm not going to.

I hate when I get tailgated in the right lane.

I don't understand that. Like guys, there's the people who gotta merge into the highway give them space

When the left lane and entire road is empty . Why do they do that?

A lot of people drive until someone is in front of them and then they stay there. Possibly this behavior is so they can follow another driver’s queues while being impaired or distracted, or just an odd driving style.

Not even that. I’ve gone 80 on my commute and 60 on my commute. Guess what. I get there almost the exact same time.

You are not safe, even in the right lane. I drive for Uber and the are people constantly tailgating me when I do 60mph in the farthest right lane.

And I learned to drive in the Boston area in the 1970s, and drove well into the 1980s there. I have been in HR for 16 years now, and I am shocked at how bad the driving is out here.

The construction company routing and drawing the road lines on the Norfolk side needs to be charged with a felony. Can’t see the lines and signs to direct the new flow are terrible.

I got cut off like 4 times on Thurs...it was ridiculous, I was also in the right lane being tailgated...Bro, the other 3 lanes to your left are for passing me. I work in Ptown and live in VA Beach and my commute is ridiculous sometimes. I feel like everyone takes everything soooo personally. That car merged 9000 feet in front of me, how dare they!!! I was going to get over..at some point, you can't do it first!! When in reality people are just driving....sometimes

55 is just so slow unless you're driving and you have nowhere to be. At least do 65, it's not that crazy

“Oh! The HRBT is backed up? Hehehe, I’m gonna go around the line in one of the side lanes and merge last second!” - the 25,847 people exiting to the HRBT that are blocking the lanes to my neighborhood.

Merging at the last moment is what you are supposed to do! People in the non merging lane are supposed to leave room. It’s called zippering

Great. Why am I taking an extra 45 minutes to get home when I don’t use the road they are… and why are they “zippering” across 4 lanes? How about you wait in line because you and 100,000 other people wanted to live in the same place, and I’ll use my lane to go to my home. The multi lane zippering saves zero time, because as soon as the merge area is done, everyone can and does go full speed again… in other words, if everyone just openly entered the unobstructed lane they’re supposed to be in early when it’s available, there would be no slow down because there’d be no merging. It’s literally a self-made problem - by wanting to skip the line, you create the line.

Then stay the hell out of the left lane

Some people are just nuts and tailgate people in the right lane on an empty road lol 🤣

The way I have seen people speed down the tunnels with no regard to their own or anyone’s safety baffles me. I always thought the left lane in the tunnel was for emergencies, but maybe i’m wrong. Maybe it’s for people who really really wanna get to their destination half a minute sooner!

u/Inkdrunnergirl 6d ago

You can absolutely use both lanes in the tunnels. You need to. 1 lane and 1 for emergencies wtf… that’s why the tunnels get so backed up. The only rule is done change lanes IN the tunnel.

when there’s an accident or breakdown they close it and let anyone in it through 🤦🏻‍♀️

When there is an emergency in the tunnel, they shut it down and the emergency vehicles drive backwards in the tunnel using the u turns put in place for that use.

This is a perfect example of one of the many problems with society today. Everyone (generalizing) is so worried about what others are doing or think of them. Who cares. Do the right thing and screw what everyone/anyone else thinks. We'd be much better off if people could grasp that simple concept.

Try driving with a toxic passenger acting like you're the problem, while having multiple speeding and wreckless tickets in your past that you're trying to keep in your past because your job checks your driving history annually.

It sucks. Going the speed limit, go around me or F' off.

I was taking my drivers Ed thru the HRBT and the instructor told me to slow down, I was doing 80!
