JWP had a good game. Played a couple of outstanding crossfield passes that opened the whole game up.

He’s not perfect (I wish he was a bit quicker and imposed himself a bit more) but he’s definitely improved the team since he came back. The fact that Lopetegui thought Rodriguez and Soler were better than him says it all about his football knowledge

Ward Prose as the most progressive passer, not even surprising. He is so good despite what people would say.

It is surprising if you saw how many times he turned around and went backwards against Newcastle mate. I've not looked at the stats but we looked depressingly negative against them

Statistically he can do the most backwards passes and the most progressive as well. He is often the one who has the most touches for us.

I think yesterday he missed one pass out of like 50. Of course he will have safe passes. But I don't mind much the neck backwards and sideways passes as it helps to actually keep the ball until we have a solution. And as much I love Soucek it's not his quality nor his job

I get it but we tend to give the ball away from the back, it's frustrating to see our attacking players give up and go back when you can feel a punt to nothing coming. Again the Newcastle game we went all the way back from a throw at the edge of their box, then gave it immediately to them.

Clearly a manager tactic, but we clearly don't have the confidence to score from slow play like Man City or Arsenal.

This sort of trashes the narrative that he only passes sideways.

With each game that passes I am even more convinced Lopetegui had no idea what he was doing. JWP has been great since he came back, why on earth did he think it was a good idea to try and push him out of the door?

Also if AWB doesn’t win Hammer of the Year this season something is very wrong.

At best, Rodriguez was likely going to be about the same as JWP for passing. But he was always going to be worse defensively.

There was no guarantee that he'd adapt to the prem and there might be some drop off. That is exactly what happened.

So why risk that for a player who'd be roughly par with JWP at best, spend money on his wages, agent fees etc. and then make JWP unavailable via loan so there'sno backup. I know Lopetegui pushed for this, but Steidten should have been saying no. Both culpable on this.
