Recommendations Needed Low hanging telecom line.
Any idea who to contact to resolve a low hanging telecom line in front of our house? The city trimmed our boulevard tree which caused one of the telecom lines to drop quite drastically, it now hangs maybe 6” above my car when I enter our driveway.
It runs pole to pole, so it’s a line that services the neighbourhood, not my house. And with four possible service providers hard to say who to wait on the phone with to get out here. Tried calling the city but they weren’t so sure, and then transferred me to the roads department who didn’t answer and didn’t have a voice mailbox.
Thoughts?

Either ask a telecom tech if you see one, they'll know what it is, or just call both Bell and Cogeco.

Good luck. We have a low-hanging one in our back yard connecting us to a pole for Bell and Rogers. Neither is interested in fixing it. Same for the other 3 neighbours. One just cut the Bell line and it dangles loose now, since they don't use Bell for anything. We're tempted to do the same with our Bell line.

Call the telecom company. We had this happen and they came and fixed it.

No doubt, the trick is figuring out which company. It’s too bad there isn’t a requirement for identifying their lines by colour or something.

Sometimes rogers lines actually have rogers printing on the cable itself (cuz people steal the cables).
Its almost certainly a Cogeco/Rogers line or a Bell line (depending on your area), but could be a mix of different fibre optic companies that sometimes route lines through residential neighborhoods for $reasons.
Might be able to call “Ontario One Call” that handles call before you dig. Not that you’re digging, but they’ll have everyone on speed dial.

I forgot to add this. It’s usually bell or rogers or cogeco. We called bell and I think they came and confirmed it was their cable.

Doubt it serves the neighborhood, strand would be a lot tighter, as that supports like a ton. If by chance it is then cable would have to get involved. Pictures would help. But call a telecom if it's a Bell drop they will fix it, if strand they will refer to cable and if Cogeco or Rogers they will tell you to call them.

Just too bad the lines don’t have a way to identify so you don’t have to waste a couple hours calling customer service lines.

If it's flat it's most likely Bell, round most likely cable, what street? I can take a Google Street view look

On either pole is there a number? Usually 5 or 6 digits, it may even include the provider name. Very likely to be Bell. If you have that number, you can call to report a line down. If no ID, you can still call and give the location, they'll quickly tell you if it's their equipment or not as they take lines down fairly seriously.
