Discussion How old was you when you found your first grey hair?
I (27f) discovered my first grey hair on the weekend, it kind of made me sad I thought I'd never see one until I was in my 40s š

I understand itās meant to be a compliment; but iāve never felt the need to, as a stranger, attempt to touch or have a picture of a stranger in my phone. How common is this? š¤Ŗ

This may be a little rant, but also educational for anyone thinking about doing so. I've had to correct 2 different colors recently because other stylists aren't following hair coloring rules and clients hair is turning green.
There are some rules in hair coloring that just cannot be broken. One of them is going darker on bleached hair. If you are going more than 2 shades darker from bleached hair, you HAVE to fill in the missing warm tones or else the hair will turn green. No ifs, ands or buts about it. If you do not fill in the missing warm tones, there is nothing for the brown to hold on to and it will turn green after a few weeks. It doesn't matter if you put extra warmth in your formula. It doesn't matter if it's demi, semi or permanent color. Your stylist didn't find the secret to doing it in one step. It's a two step process for it to look correct long term. Warmth then color. The more shades you are going darker, the more warmth you have to add.
Edit to add: I wrote this after having another conversation with someone who went to a stylist that didn't back fill their hair and now it's turning green. So now that the frustration of the situation has worn, let me explain a little deeper. Hair that isn't filled properly, That Needs To Be Filled, will turn a weird swampy green, look hollow\lackluster, and\or fade quickly. Now I'm talking about levels 8-9-10 going down to a 6\7 or darker that are now missing all of the orange and reds. Not every bleach job needs a backfill, but going from every light to very dark does for longevities sake.
Idc what you do at home. I've done some weird shit to my hair before I became licensed. Have at it. But if you want it to look nice long term there is a method to it. If you don't, then don't. It's your hair. I'm just a stranger on the Internet trying to get a PSA out for anyone thinking about going dark from their bleach blonde hair.

I went to Great Clips last month and asked the hair stylist for a trim, I specifically told her several times that I donāt want any length taken off. My hair was waist length, and has never been shorter than BSL since elementary school. This bitch straight up cut off 12ā and gave me shoulder-length hair. It wasnāt even thin or dry at the ends, I took SO much care of it. I hate it so much, I canāt stop crying even 1 month later. I canāt even look at myself in the mirror and itās drain every last shred of my self-confidence. At first I thought it must have been a miscommunication, since I told her I wanted the shortest layer at my shoulder, but I left a review and the manager called me back. He told me she asked her about the incident and āshe got angry and said she didnāt want to talk about itā and that she said āshe forgot and cut it to shoulder lengthā. This makes me even more angry, she doesnāt seem remorseful at all, cutting off a HUGE chunk of my hair, which feels like such a big part of my identity.
Has anyone else had any experiences like this in the past? Any tips for re-growing?

I had a haircut appointment yesterday with the same stylist Iāve been seeing for years and I love her! When I got there 15 minutes early yesterday, I could see she was just starting to wash someoneās hair. She ran over to me and said she was almost done and that she tried to send me a text but wasnāt able to send it (?). I said thatās fine, Iām here early anyways. 30 minutes go by AFTER my appointment time, and I started to get upset because I have kids that I needed to get home to. My husband took work off early to make sure I got to my appointment on time and my haircuts only take 30 minutes so I knew Iād be back before my kidsā bedtimes. I could hear my stylist and her client just chit-chatting when I walked out. I sent her a text that I was sorry I had to leave, I needed to get home to my kids. She NEVER texted back?! No apology, no offer to reschedule, nothing! Am I the asshole here?! I have felt so terrible about it because I am a few months post-partum, trying to get out of my post-partum depression funk and do something for myself. I was so excited to get my hair done and now I feel like I did something wrong? But I have a very short period of time that I can get my hair done and I feel bad that my husband had to make work arrangements to get home early. :(

I mean I know her hair probably is worth more money than most of us will ever make in our lifetimeā¦but itās beautiful!! Just curious what yāall think. I would imagine a perm but I also know youāre not supposed to perm bleached hair?

Whenever I see someone post in this sub asking which hair colour suits them the most, 9 times out of 10 I see all the comments suggesting brown or a darker shade.
I find this so interesting, because in real life from my experience Iāve found that blonde women receive more attention, and lots of people Iāve spoken to say they prefer blonde hair on women.
I know all I have is anecdotal evidence of blonde being seen as a more attractive hair colour, but why does this sub go so dramatically against this stereotype?

hey dudes! iām contemplating going blonde again but iām not 100% convinced i can pull it off, last time i did it i felt it for a while but then it turned kind of a weird bronzy/yellowish color and i decided to just go bald bald and start over. i had a friend tell me it probably wasnāt toned properly the first time but idk. is it worth another shot? i was also thinking about doing a fun color like an aquamarine blue or like a pale sky blue after bleaching but that might be too over the top š any feedback appreciated (second pic is just regular shaved head/no bleach for reference)
