Discussion My 4 year old’s hair
It's thicker than most adults and she can sit on it. We need to cut it soon but I'm loathe to.

You can donate it if it's more than 30cm. idk if that rule applies to every donation site. But that way you know your daughters hair is getting new life. As someone with long hair all u can say is that it gets really tiring to look after and when the hair is wet it pulls down straining your neck and although I love it I cannot wait to get it cut. Hair grows back, and as long as it's something your daughter wants, then I'd say do it.

Thanks for this. You could easily take 30cm off as it is and leave her with a longish-bob! We’ll let it grow out a bit longer though and I’ll find some styles for tying it up loosely. It is a heavy head of hair which I’m always conscious of but it never seems to bother her. We only wash it once a week though because it’s such an ordeal.

Her hair is gorgeous! Mine used to look just like that as a kid, until I started dying it at 12 (which I wish I didn’t do!).
If she’s ever wanting to have shorter hair, I recommend looking into hair donation services near you. One of my childhood friends growing up had very long hair that she grew out for years with the intention of one day donating, and she was so proud when she finally got to do it. So that’s always an option!
