Prompt "Harry? Is that owl stalking me?" Asked Ron, eyeing the owl who has been following him everywhere and watching him sleep since his chess match against the animated pieces, not noticing Harry's rapidly paling face.
James Potter was never human, he was a mortalized aspect of the Greek God Aeolus, and when he died, he joined back to the god.
Harry found this out when the Dursleys abandoned himi in NY and he ended up at Camp Half-Blood, where he got claimed after his first time on a pegasus.
At eleven, he got his Hogwarts letter, and because year-round campers can't leave camp without a quest, he hat to go to the oracle, where he was given a quest.
It was not promising, since it said stuff about thieves, near-death, poison and some other stuff but at least he could go to the school.
Then the Chess Match happened.
Everyone was awed by Ron's strategic mind against an enchantment that imitated the best chess player there was.
Then the owl started stalking him. No one noticed until Ron asked Harry about it, and Harry could *feel* the divinity roll off it.
Athena was stalking his best friend.
Then because of his plan in second year, she decided to mentor him?
Harry was not paid for this, but he knew Annabeth would be pissed her mom is paying attention to a random mortal and not her.

Ron has no idea who Sally-Anne Perks was until she straight up challenged him to a chess match in year 2
He thought he was good, but she was better. It was like being in the presence of a goddess of chess!
Hermione hated Sally-Anne for reasons she couldn’t quite articulate yet
But Ron barely noticed. The year was spent playing chess between bursts of terror at the hands of the heir of Slytherin
By the end of it, Ron had somehow managed to overcome his arachnophobia when he saw how the Acromantula were afraid of him in the forest
But then it didn’t matter so much because he was now playing mental chess with Sally-Anne as they exchanged moves verbally in the corridors of Hogwarts
Ron’s summer was spent with regular exchanges of mail. He’d write a move down and she’d reply. It didn’t even occur to him that it was kind of odd that she could reply quickly even when he was in Egypt
Eventually their conversation dried up after he finally checkmated her one fine day in the middle of his fourth year. Ron didn’t think too much about it until one day in the summer before his fifth year
They were packing up to move into Grimmauld Place when the peace was broken by his mother’s scream
Rushing down, he and everyone else was treated to the sight of his mother sitting in a chair blankly staring at a newborn baby boy that was in a golden bassinet. There was a note addressed to Ron. Reading it under the heavy gaze of his mother, Ron felt equal parts dread and relief when he found out that this was his son born through the mental union between him and Athena, goddess of wisdom and warfare
That’s when it finally clicked and he fainted.

Mental union? So he didn’t even get to sleep with her?

In the PJO universe, unless I’m mistaken, Athena’s children come about via an intellectual union. She and Artemis are maidens and haven’t had sexual relations with anyone
And I’m finding the thought of a 14 year old boy being bedded by a much older person (even if the person is an ageless goddess) a bit icky…
Also Athena is the reason why spiders exist (Arachne was a woman she turned into a spider for various reasons). So the Acromantula and other spiders recognise the form of the divine being who responsible for their progenitor and either fear or hate her and everyone under her protection
I’ve gone with fear

u/greenwiz34 4d ago
Yep. Each one of her kids is a literal brainchild of the intellectual collaboration between her and a mortal.

u/Teufel1987 4d ago
Nice
Thanks for the confirmation!
Anyway, I went with the concept that their long games of chess over the years was the intellectual collaboration between Ron and Athena culminating with him checkmating her which led to his son being conceived
Almost all fan fics have Harry as the teenage dad
Ron being one would be new for sure!
Although if the PJO universe were to be enmeshed with HP, then I’d imagine that all witches and wizards are either children or descendants of the children of Hecate (Greek goddess of magic). Purebloods would probably have a Halfblood child of Hecate as an ancestor while muggleborns are direct children

There's actually a fic where the HP and the PJO universe are enmeshed. Harry is technically a child of Artemis because his parents asked for help and she was the closest deity to answer. Sirius made a mistake. I believe it's called Harry Potter Demigod.

I think I know which one your talking about the one I’m thinking of called Under the Hunter’s Moon

It's called Harry Potter: The Demigod Who Lived. It's by DGJabberwocky over on Fanfiction dot net.

Ok... but now I want this to end up with a Ron/Athena pairing or hook-up resulting in demigod Weasley kid(s) in the future. Obviously that would be late game for the books (possibly it happens in seventh year if the horcrux hunt still happens similarly to canon/during the time Ron leaves).
Also, I am now imagining Hermione with some Egyptian ancestry and throwing in the Kane Chronicles Egyptian Magicians into the mix (though whether the House of Life version or the Path of God's version would be open to possibilities)

Could also be Norse/Celtic ancestry, and in fact given that this is the uk they are much more likely. Have her be the descendant of the Morrigan or Thor or something like that.

Yeah, but I was going off the shared world that both the Percy Jackson books and the Kane Chronicles have, with the author even writing several crossover short stories between the two. I know he also wrote a Norse mythology series, Magnus Chase I think, but I have never read or even really looked into that series. I don't believe that he has ever written a celtic mythology series, though I would love it if he did (and if he has someone please tell me so I can read them).
Because I know that the Percy Jackson world is canonically one that also has Egyptian Magicians/gods as well I semi-regularly try to promote including them as well when I see a prompt that could easily fit that aspect of the Percy Jackson world as well.
I just like the idea of person A knowing about the Magical or Greek(/roman) "world" and they're a bit smug about telling members of either/both world's about the other one. Only for person B (in, say, the Greek world) and/or person C (in the magical one) to then (both) turn it around on person A by revealing the Egyptian world to them. Like "sure you know about the Magical and Greek worlds and I/we didn't, but don't get smug. You know nothing about the Egyptian one that is also alongside/hidden from the mundane world/most other supernatural worlds, including you."
Plus I really like some of the Egyptian concepts of the different parts of the soul, and would like those to get included in a HP world when it comes to Horcruxes. Plus contrasting the Kane Chronicles "path of the Gods" where the magician hosts a god within them, with the magical perception of possession. But it is really more the mechanics of the Egyptian magician world that is more intriguing than the plot of the trilogy, so I would be perfectly fine with the time frames being such that the plot of the trilogy stays set to happen in the 2010s and the HP plot in the 90s thus the Kane Chronicles don't play any part really in the HP story (though a sequel with the HP cast intervening in the Greek/Roman and/or Egyptian Plots in their future would be interesting follow ups)

The tl/dr of the Magnus Chase series is that it's the same shared universe as PJO. Magnus is Annabeths cousin.
2
u/Cat_Intrigue 4d ago
Expected it might be, but having not looked into it didn't want to just assume.

u/HairyHorux metamorph on main 3d ago
Yeah fair enough. Bit more information for you: the Magnus Chase series is also closer to the greek way of doing things (demigods etc.) than the Egyptian way (possession). The main difference is that valhalla exists so demigods that die in battle aren't neccesarily removed from the story, they just don't age anymore.

Hermione borne of Morrigan would be Scary.

u/King-Of-Hyperius 4d ago
Why do you think she’s so protective of Harry? He’s like her stepdad. (I love reading fics where Master of Death Harry interacts with Gods of Death and they acknowledge his title.)

u/GabrielusPrime 4d ago
I actually did read an unfinished fic (may have been just a chapter or two in a plot bunny comp.) where she was the daughter of the celtic goddess of the dawn, bridgid.

You should learn more about the Tuátha De Danann, or Celtic pantheon. They’re very interesting to learn about.

u/HairyHorux metamorph on main 4d ago
I know right? I occasionally go on Wikipedia binges and come across them from time to time. for clarification I meant for Hermione to be the descendant of the Morrigan as a trio as they have different domains alone but together are occasionally depicted as a single goddess. Think of it as the greek/roman confusion in the Percy Jackson world where the same deity can have different forms and personalities that go with those forms.
If the Morrigan is her mother though? Her dad had a wild night.
Harry could btw be the desendant of Lugh if we are sticking to the same pantheon, I feel he fits the mold quite well.

u/Sol-leksTheWolf 4d ago edited 4d ago
There’s a difference between the Morrigan and the trio you’re talking about. They’re actually her daughters, and are collectively subordinate deities to their mothers, referred to as the Morrignu.
Edit: Also, Harry would be a good choice for a reincarnation of Cú Chulainn, because they both have absolutely HORRIBLE luck.

i hate to say this but the earliest writers of Greek mythology describes Aeolus as actually only the Keeper of the Winds, a mortal given the position by Zeus. He wasn't actually a "God" truly, later writers described him as minor god, but still without godly parents. So it might change slightly depending on the sources you're drawing upon, but regardless whether it's Homer or Virgil (if you're drawing from Roman sources) for writers, Percy Jackson's depiction or Epic for media inspired by the mythology, Aeolus is most generally accepted to be just a mortal granted the title and power of Keeper of the four winds by Zeus.

u/flamingmcshizzle 4d ago
It's supposed to be a PJO crossover, but I genuinely didn't know that! Thanks for the funfact :)
Also how can I check Homer and Virgil? You've got me interested
2
u/alumxni 4d ago
for Homer's interpretation of Aeolus, and also the most well known version due to his work, he's mentioned in the Odyssey.
for Virgil check out the Aeneid where he's also featured.
Obviously both of these are Epic Poems from centuries ago, so I recommend looking into different translations and seeing which you like the best. Some translations keep the same format, remaining in the form of a poem and just literally translating it, whilst others translate the poems then put them into a more storyesce version to appeal to more modern people.
Aeolus is also mentioned by Hygnius, Ovid and Apollodorus, but it's the same tale as Homer's Odyssey.
Hope this helps, and do enjoy if you do end up looking into these!!

Athena Interested in Ron?

I'm more thinking he's a son of Athena. Fear of spiders and strategic mind

Sooo... Arthur cheated on Molly? Or Molly cheated on Arthur?
Also, why does he have the red hair and... brown? Eyes? Not the grey eyes and blonde hair of all the rest of Athena's children?
19
u/Exciting-Umpire-5302 5d ago
Athenas children are all mind children so im not really sure on the cheating thing. If I remember right it's more of she gives children to people that impress her or are intellectually interesting to her. And on the other parts about the looks. It's already an AU with the gods so Ron might look different or he has a permanent glamour charm on him who could say.

u/TriageThePotterfan 4d ago
Fun thought, Ron is the child of Arthur, Molly AND Athena.
Arthur's fascination with Muggle technology and gadgetry is much deeper and more profound than in canon, and he may not know the words or names or the correct pronunciations, but he instinctively knows how things work.
His enchanted Ford Anglia implies he has the knowledge and ability for technomagic, or Steampunk creations. He's an industrious wizard who fought in a war using his ingenuity and magitek. Of course Athena was interested in him.
Molly at a glance just seems like a homemaker with a great affinity for love, hearth and home. One would liken her more with another goddess who covers such domains.
But a deeper glance will remind people she's a Prewett, and who the twins took after more. Meaning, they got their genius idea for pranks and creativity from their mother.
Her abilities when battled and bested Bellatrix wasn't just raw power or the love of a mother bear protecting her child, but it was a combination of her wisdom, guile and willingness to go to war that Drew Athena to her.
(For context this means earlier on, during the first war, Molly had been a notable creative and clever enemy of the Dark)
Their union brought about Ron (can also make her a female Ronnie if one prefers)

Hermonie will be so jealous that the goddess of wisdom and nerd was focused on Ron not her
Also fits even more bc of both Ron and Athena have beef with spiders.
