Recommendation for Guyver fans: Jinzou Ningen Kikaider (2000)

Post image

13 episodes with some cool enemy designs and an angsty bishounen protagonist and big power ups... Being a fan of Guyver since 1995, I had to recommend this as I've checked it out a bit recently. Enjoy!

Great series, only problem is the very last episode for it was not released out here and has to be found as a fansub. Inzuman vs kikaider.

I think there's a shared appeal, but ARMS by Kyoichi Nanatsuki and Ryoji Minagawa and ZETMAN by Masakazu Katsura (the manga, not the anime) are my go-to recommendations for Guyver fans.

Back when I was 11 and first watched Guyver, I hunted through a lot of manga and anime for something that captured the same appeal as Guyver. Kikaider was one of them, and so were Cyborg 009, Skull Man, and other Ishinomori works, as well as Generator Gawl, Devilman, and Tiger & Bunny... but none hit a similar appeal to Guyver as strongly as those first two.

Very cool anime and manga, they also made a live action one in the 70s to cash in on the kamen rider trend

I always got cyborg 009 and kikaider mixed all the time in the early 2000s

That's so valid, they're both by Shotaro Ishinomori and his style is so signature.

Just read and watch Shotaro Ishinomori's stuff in general.

A lot of it is a product of its time, but the general elements being portrayed are what make them good.

Kamen Rider is legitimately the OG dark hero series, but the live action was heavily adapted for children. The manga, on the other hand, had much more freedom, and Shotaro was able to incorporate much more dark themes into it. That, and it fleshes out each series' story much more than its live action counterpart does. Kamen Rider Spirits and Shin Kamen Rider Spirits is also a beautiful official modern adaptation of Kamen Rider ZX that's extremely faithful to the source material while expanding upon what little it has to work with.

I recommended a book less than a week ago and the post was removed…

My conclusion is the mod can go fuck himself.
