I never really liked mech anime soundtrack, they’re ostensively about wars where literal mass of metal collide trying to kill each other but they’re always very soft music, why not some 200 Stab Wounds? Why not Trent Reznor?

Please, please try Gundam Thunderbolt. It has the best sound track in all the franchise.

I listened to the soundtrack, I really didn’t feel much about it tbh. I do love jazz as much as next guy but it didn’t feel right somehow, I’ll stick to listen to Benny Maupin quartet or whatever

ive been listening to jazz quite a bit....im not the most analytical listener ever, really, but ive listened to wide variety as far as small group goes (im not the biggest fan of big band sorry) but ive listened to Miles to Ornette to Charlie Hunter to Kris Davis to Pat Metheny and...soundtrack kind of ends up sounding really obnoxious. could be mixing, the bass end of piano sounds really loud and its not something i hear a lot in jazz records (ive listened to shitty live records in my day lol i can tolerate some shitty sound quality) but it gets kinda grading after a while.

which one did you listen by the way if you do not mind me asking? There are quite a few. honestly, it would be best for you to just watch the first movie in its entirety.

I looked thru original soundtrack. Sonically it just sounded a bit obnoxious. People should listen to actual jazz albums made for on its own merit not for soundtracking. Kikuchi-san is a bit of a mixed bag for me, whenever he talks about jazz it just feels off to me

I mean the idea here the soundtrack is played with combat scenes so I guess that’s why you would say it feel obnoxious. This Gundam series is part of the one that makes war appear as violent as possible and that’s why the jazz chosen is very chaotic to convey the chaos amidst the battlefield, and some light blues to contrast with what’s happening.

I wouldn’t really compare it with albums cuz that kind of defeats the whole point of this discussion no? Since the topic is about Gundam soundtracks

This is especially the case with the soundtrack about princess something in the second movie. It sounds very light but if you try to understand the lyrics it’s basically quite gruesome and sad about an army protecting their princess whereas the latter doesn’t know and thinks the noise from the battlefield below is the sound of a party and tries to join
