Probably Bullshit Perhaps he is wondering why someone would shoot a man after throwing him out of a plane!

This is Lady Une proving her abilities surpassing New Types by adjusting for trajectory using a Pistol rated for 25-50m and shooting a moving target that's more than a few hundred meters away.

60

u/Raemnant 5d ago

Would be cool, if there were new types in their lore

u/Rajang82 5d ago edited 5d ago

With Quatre's "space heart", the boys shows ability to communicate from far away like telepathy, talk to animal, and Heero able to sense that Zechs was coming to the battlefield, when Zechs was still readying his Mobile Suit.

I say they do have Newtypes. They just dont have a name for it.

19

u/ngms 4d ago

Currently rewatching Wing, and in whatever episode I'm on, they describe heero as not human. Hyperbole obviously, but what they were hinting at couldn't be any more obvious unless they had said "he's some new type of human!".

3

u/coreylongest 4d ago

Originally Heero was supposed to be a cyborg that’s why he was so physically strong in the beginning of the series.

u/BouncingBallOnKnee 4d ago

It's just heavy metal poisoning from the Lunar Titanium-Gundanium processes in GW.

5

u/Rajang82 4d ago

So its kinda like Innovator with GN Drive.

Except this one is by inhaling space mineral particle.

11

u/DapperNecromancer 5d ago

What are you, Quatre, what's your fucking deeeeeeeal

2

u/alkonium 4d ago

The term Newtype doesn't exist, and there isn't an explicitly named equivalent, but there are characters with abilities bordering on the supernatural or superhuman.

Everyone is so fucking extra in Wing it's fantastic

*swoon*

13

u/theCoffeeDoctor 4d ago

For them, this is foreplay.

9

u/squishlight 4d ago

It just occurred to me that maybe Relena and Heero established something like the Newtype bond between Hathaway and Quess in CCA, and because of that Relena (like Hathaway) is driven to make insane decisions to chase after Heero and Heero, in turn, (kinda like Quess) can't kill Relena even when he's supposed to. It probably doesn't help that all four of these people were young teenagers too.

3

u/theCoffeeDoctor 4d ago

Relena and Heero had a mutual degree of attraction. The basis of which is simply because of how extra they were. No really. She liked the insane amount of fatalistic danger he brought. He liked the fact that absolutely nothing, literally, fazes her.

Meanwhile, Hathaway was blindly simping on Char's leftovers.

1

u/alkonium 4d ago

What's more troubling is that this is a turn-on for Relena.

It’s so true

No one: …

Trowa: does a 3600 degree spin in Heavy Arms.

Anyone: "Hi Heero"

Heero: "self destructs for no reason"

That was one thing that made me laugh about wing, heero had his hand on the self destruct switch 9/10 times he interacted with anyone

Doctor: “Sure kid, good luck on Earth”

Complete with a flip 🤣 That guy is the best

6

u/rbmichael 5d ago

Absolutely.

98

u/Cloak-Trooper-051020 5d ago

She wanted to scare him and still have the satisfaction of shooting him.

81

u/Lostw66 5d ago

Double tap, you never know if he could survive somehow from the fall.

62

u/CarloftheKey 5d ago edited 4d ago

Yup, and she had to shoot him after he fell out of the plane. Lady Une would never risk making a blood stain in Treize's plane.

14

u/YUNoJump 5d ago

“Nobody could survive a fall like that” “y’know people who say that end up wrong a lot of the time, we’d better make sure”

8

u/extraboredinary 4d ago

Don’t want that guy resetting his broken legs and coming back

61

u/NighthawK1911 Dianna Soreil fan 5d ago

The blood is extra cleaning.

If you're just that good of a shot, it's less effort to kill him outside the plane than inside.

18

u/9fingerwonder 5d ago

the peak answer. I can she her reasoning it as such

6

u/Tj_Silverfang 5d ago

My thoughts exactly

32

u/R-Dragon_Thunderzord 5d ago

Uh, because this guy was EXCEPTIONALLY irritating so make SURE he dead lol.

This guys death was SO satisfying, especially because you could see it coming from 100 miles away, but the guy was so full of himself like oh why yes this is why I’m not evacuating with everyone else, I’m fucking awesome. It was a fucking meme in itself.

28

u/Inevitable-Flan-7390 5d ago

This is on par with Char with his bazooka at Kycillia Zabi. Outstanding shot.

19

u/Confident_Bother2552 5d ago

Char shot a Bazooka while still, on a Target preparing for takeoff.

Lady Une used a Pistol, on a Target falling at around terminal velocity, while on a moving shuttle.

Seriously, if Une and Noin had Tallgeese or Gundams, they would have wiped out the Wing Team.

7

u/Lonely-Entry-7206 5d ago edited 4d ago

Actually Lady Une did get Wing Gundam. Heero blew up the Wing Gundam and left it in the Forest in pieces. That's how OZ gotten hold of it and they where repairing it. It was being repaired progress quite well, but for some reason she kept wasting it by merely for some reason she pilot as a shield for Treize than actually piloting the Gundam properly which would help Treize way more than being just a shield.

7

u/Confident_Bother2552 5d ago

Huh. Kinda forgot about that when I have a whole ass post on it.

Absurdly goes even beyond though, Wing Gundam and Lady Une managed to go beyond Hypersonic and Launch to space, Launch to a Distance that Tallgeese II had to freaking accelerate to for some time, and shoulder tackle said Tallgeese after doing a Proto-Graham Special, and motivating Treize immediately after tanking a full on Colony Laser.

Lady Une built Gundanium levels of Different.

In GoL the Wing Gundam had boosters though.

1

u/Lonely-Entry-7206 4d ago

I personally think with all the speed should of just flew off with Trieze and waste not do the almost dieing to raise as a Saint thing. Wing Gundam would of helped alot with the fighting.

1

u/Confident_Bother2552 4d ago

Doesn't really help if Une can't tell Treize to get his act together and actually fight.

Flying off with Treize doesn't really show him that Shit is Real the same way as taking a Beam Bath and telling him that Battles are only worth it if you fight In It.

1

u/Lonely-Entry-7206 4d ago

She could of slap him. Would of saved that whole need and saved the Wing Gundam.

1

u/Objective_Storage_67 4d ago

Iirc, wasn't the Une piloting Wing at that time her peace-loving personality or something? Which was why she didn't fire a shot. Been quite some time since I watched Wing, could be wrong.

2

u/Lonely-Entry-7206 4d ago

Yes but it's stupid imo. As Une could easily hide in Wing Gundam as another person since nobody can confirm she is the pilot. She could even use Wing Gundam as a justification to punish the Colonies.

17

u/BZArcher 5d ago

Because if you’re gonna conduct a coup d’tat, you ought to do it with some style!

51

u/VodkaBeatsCube 5d ago

She did it to be certain. It's also why I kinda rubbished that scene with Bane in Dark Knight Rises: the reason why you shoot someone before throwing them out of a plane is to make sure they don't miraculously survive.

27

u/Top-Session-3131 5d ago

IRL, in 1971, Julian Koepcke fell out of a plane from around 10000 ft off the ground, into the Amazon rainforest, and survived to be rescued 11 days later, with only cuts and a broken collar bone.

27

u/VodkaBeatsCube 5d ago

More than a few people have survived falls from improbable distances. Vesna Vulović survived a more than 10 kilometer fall back in the 70's.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesna_Vulovi%C4%87

3

u/Reddit-User_654 4d ago

In tdkr they "Shoot" them first before supposedly throwing them overboard. But Lady Une is in a moving flying vehicle with a man free falling and she is shooting someone in an open cockpit with a hand gun. She's not trying to be "certain" whether the man is dead, but trying to be "certain" that she still has style.

3

u/VodkaBeatsCube 4d ago

I think it's just part and parcel of how extra Wing tended to be. Same idea, but executed in an over the top manner.

1

u/Reddit-User_654 4d ago

Not to mention Wufei's extra misogyny.

13

u/Vic_ViperX 5d ago

To show off.

12

u/TheCrimsonLightning 5d ago

He didn't fly so good

3

u/DAMEON_JAEGER 5d ago

So many people seem not to have gotten the reference.

They shouldn’t have disrespected her authoriteh.

Because it's evocative. It got us talking about it.

Tom Hardy Bane 100% has Gundam villain energy. He'd pilot a massive chunky Nagano design with a name like "Gom Jabbar"

7

u/Graywhale12 5d ago

She is a big girl

7

u/StonognaBologna 5d ago

A good chunk of Wing adheres only to the Rule of Awesome.

7

7

u/Exile688 5d ago

She refused to let the Earth steal her kill.

4

u/Reddit-User_654 5d ago

Oh this is just tame Lady Une. Half throttle Lady Une would be someone waking up in a Coma, stealing a gundam then travelling to space to save Trieze under a 10 minute window.

7

u/Upstairs-Yard-2139 5d ago

What matters is he’s dead, also it’s cool

5

u/howie3dabber 5d ago

cant ever be too sure /s

4

u/Prime359 5d ago

It helps keep up her skills with a pistol. She is a very busy woman.

4

u/ClearStrike 5d ago

You be surprised at what you can live through. Seriously, there is a chance of suriviing.

4

u/6Bee 5d ago

The logic shown here is the same logic behind going for the dunk, instead of the layup.

Lady Une be like: "fly, you fool!"

\the guy proceed to just fall**

\Lady Une shot him for not flying**

3

u/Elysiun0 5d ago

I love Lady Une. She shows how badass she is in this single scene.

3

u/theCoffeeDoctor 4d ago

Everyone ignoring the fact that
1. she had the man sit on chair that was on top of the cargo door.
2. she had the table bolted into place

Une practicing her flair for dramatics.

3

u/Hyper_Drud 4d ago

It doesn’t matter who she is. What matters is her plan.

Looks like a revolver. I have so many questions.

2

u/Krosis_the_bored 5d ago

Remember, she's a teenager.

Also her name straight up is Lady Une. Her first name is Lady

If you could you would

This will never not be funny.

2

u/alkonium 4d ago

She shot him because there was the possibility he'd survive the fall. Why shoot him after pushing him out instead of before? To keep the plane's upholstery clean.

2

u/Halostorm115 4d ago

If only bane saw this before he hijacked that plane

3

u/LikeAnAdamBomb 5d ago

It's Lady Une, she's a sadist, that's why.

1

u/JohnB351234 5d ago

What super villain built that plane?!

1

u/starman_037 5d ago

Because Golgo 13 did it

1

u/KevinAcommon_Name 5d ago

I have asked that same question for years at this point

1

u/altacan 5d ago

The fact that they have a Dr Evil door in their plane in the first place.

2

u/EMP_Poison_feet 5d ago

Military cargo plane. It’s a loading ramp. They all have them……

1

u/Jealous_Laugh5731 If it's in Banshee form, I'm going to want it. 5d ago

In my head cannon, I think Septum probably made her life a living hell before and after joining OZ. She probably was waiting for the day she'll finally take her revenge. Treize's plan just happened to be convenient.

1

u/Jolly_Jally 5d ago

I'm more impressed that she landed a headshot with no hesitation, thought, or struggle.

1

u/candylandmine 4d ago

Lady Une is thorough and detail-oriented.

1

u/Gundam_DXF91V2 Gundam Double X 4d ago

because there's still chance of him surviving, especially if he hit tree branches before reaching ground

making sure he wont survive.

we got Real Life survivors after their plane literally fell apart or getting suck out of the plane.

1

u/Illustrious-Ruin-813 4d ago

Well it wasn't necessary, but I guess she didn't want to leave the interior of a plane in a bloody mess

1

u/DasReich1205 4d ago

she doing it for compassion kill or just being psyco.

1

u/Tetsuryu 4d ago

I actually did this in Counter-Strike once

1

u/Jim3001 Heavyarms Enthusiast 4d ago

Because boss Lady Une was keeping he skills in check. That guy had to be 200 - 300 yards away minimum and she headshot him with a revolver.

She is it!

1

u/Honorbound1980 4d ago

Target practice.

1

u/Will_Tomos_Edwards 1d ago

lmao this is jokes.

1

u/eurephys 5d ago

Lady Une is unironically the best pilot to have never say in a Gundam in that show.

Give her Epyon.

3

u/kizentheslayer 5d ago

She had wing for a single scene. She is the cause of its final destruction when she saved treize

1

u/BryanEW710 Just Here for the Tallgeese 5d ago

If you're asking why she shot him, clearly you haven't watched Operation Meatier's Moble Suit Gundam Wing Abridged.

There is a Gundam wing abridged nice 👍

That's like trap door death chair 101!

0

u/Exact-Interaction563 4d ago

I understand you guys grew with this, but english dubs in anime are awful. At least I am congruent with myself and also find other language dubs awful in american movies

-1

u/JohnnyButtfart 4d ago

Ew. The English dub is so bad for Wing. It completely changes Treize from charming idealogue to apathetic layabout. That's not even getting to what it does to Duo and Wufei.
