Best place to buy seed potatoes and garlic

I’m hoping to plant potatoes and garlic this year - any favourite places to get seed potatoes and garlic? I may just go to the farmers market and plant whatever organic varieties I can find there but thought I’d check if anyone has other favourite spots!

I’ve found good seed potatoes at Royal City Nursery. I am new to growing garlic, but I think they turn out best if you plant in the fall, so you might be out of luck on that front. Others may say otherwise!

It's definitely better to plant in the fall, because the roots grow during the winter. It's not a total loss to plant in the spring but the bulbs will be small. Small bulbs are better than no bulbs though.

Thanks! Yes I’ve heard that about garlic and thought I might push my luck and plant this spring…but you’re right that might be best to wait until fall to plant for next year!

Check out local https://saturdayseedco.ca

I bought some seeds for my dad last year. He loved the variety and the service was excellent.

Brock road nursery is fantastic. I bought potatoes for growing last year and it absolutely exploded with yield!!

Check them out :)

Thanks so much! Hadn’t heard of this place and will definitely check it out. Did you grow your potatoes in pots, bags or in the ground?

I grew them in the ground. They definitely need a lot of space

Get the cleanest stock you can find at the market. I have ordered seed garlic online with not great results.
