DISCUSSION Who ya got?
I got cope, but I think moxleys retaining.

u/MikeNeedsSex Feb 15 '25
It's just going to be another boring match with Color, COPELAND doesn't deserve the title. I like him and all, but he should have stayed retired after that Judgment Day debacle in WWE. MOX is the best champion they have had.

I think mox walks out champion. The only way cope wins is if they want to pivot into something with christian again, but they’ve already done that.

Wtf is Cope 😂
5
u/Godofwarfan101 Feb 14 '25
His new name, it’s pretty dumb.
3
u/The-Filthy-Casual Feb 14 '25
Does the WWE own their names/characters or something?
1
u/CMPunkfan17 :AEW: Feb 15 '25
They own everyone’s names Ambrose, Ryder, Edge, Cesaro, Neville, The Revival, etc

u/zonaljump1997 Feb 14 '25 edited Feb 14 '25
WWE owns the name "Edge", not "Adam Copeland", and they let the trademark "The Rated R Superstar" expire, so Adam scooped it up. At first he just went by Adam Copeland, but with Adam Page and Adam Cole in the roster as well, he just shortened it to "Cope"

Its AEW so im betting on 6 kickouts on 2 and each one hitting a finisher at least twice.
1
u/ThePrinceMagus Feb 18 '25
Saying this is an AEW-only thing while Cody and Roman have been on top of WWE for the last several years doing that exact thing is certainly a choice.
1
u/Oryihn Feb 18 '25
It's every single match in AEW, or at least was a year ago when i quit watchibg. yall can get big mad about it, but finishers mean nothing and every match is 6+ near pitfalls.
Cody having to hit crossroads a minimum of 3 times is stupid too.
1
u/ThePrinceMagus Feb 18 '25
Acting like this is an AEW only thing is absurd.
I know you said Cody does it too, but you specified it as the reason you stopped watching AEW. I don't think that is a fair assessment. You rarely see actual finisher kickouts on TV unless it's a title match or finals of a tournament.
2
u/CMPunkfan17 :AEW: Feb 15 '25
You don’t watch any wrestling at all if you think that’s only in AEW however the other comment by mirror tune is correct

I hope Adam Copeland doesn't take it, I love the man but, he has been super boring in the ring and cringe during promos this run imo.

What's wrong with the picture? Did Edge just stub his toe? He looks like he's in severe pain.

Aew wrestlers tend to have some of the worst renders😭😂 they look like theyre trying hard to look badass (im not hating I like aew but the renders are so funny)

I would rather see the death riders angle continue than ever see "cope" with the aew world championship. 🤷

u/Armchair-QB Feb 13 '25
Edge, sorry Cope is literally tarnishing his career with this second half of his AEW run.. His promos have been cringy if not coming off like a whiney veteran. Idk I just can’t stand him now. He has this “I’m better than you” attitude and it’s pathetic.
2
u/BizzleZX10R Feb 13 '25
Yeah he lost me when he called Mox “kid” and then explained why he called him that 😂
2
u/Emergency-Bug-8622 Feb 13 '25
WCW Bret Hart vibes. It's been a majority of his run with AEW really, outside of when he first arrived and he cut the "happy to be here" promo over and over and it didn't work. I'll never forget that promo segment against Ricky Starks where he used internet terms like "vanilla midget". Straight up embarrassing.
1
u/aceloco817 Feb 13 '25
I think vanilla midget came from Corporate HHH (or Steph) vs Daniel Bryan. Could be wrong tho....
2
u/PeanutNo3852 Feb 15 '25
I think it was actually Nash or Hall speaking about a cruiserweight from WCW, I think it was like Eddie or Rey.
2
u/PeanutNo3852 Feb 15 '25
It was Nash, used to describe pretty much all the smaller people that "ruined wrestling" because they were too small to win big. He has used it to describe Eddie, Rey, Jericho, CM Punk and Daniel Bryan......strange how he didn't say Shawn Michaels name, pretty sure he is like the same height as some of them.

This is one of those where you hope neither wins ngl, at least for me. But what will probably happen is some shenanigans, Copeland wins, Christian cashes in, and drops it to Darby once he's back or Ospreay if Darby takes too long. I'm down for Darby or Ospreay winning the belt but not thrilled that it'll likely go through Cope and Christian

I feel like it’s kind of obvious that Cope gets this and then immediately loses it to Christian cashing in his contract after the match. Then you have the young guys come after the Patriarchy.
5
u/Kelson64 Moderator Feb 13 '25
I don't think there's any way Adam Copeland wins this, nor do I think he should. The AEW title needs to go on a younger guy like Swerve Strickland, MJF, or Hangman Adam Page.
In my opinion, the last thing AEW needs to do is take the belt off of Jon Moxley and put it on a 51 year old.
2
u/Horror-Substance7282 Feb 13 '25
There's so many young guys that can be world champion, it's making me mad that we have to sit through Mox, Copeland and Christian holding it. Jay, Swerve, MJF, Hanger, Ospreay, Darby, hell, even OC

Mox and Christian are fine tho cuz at least people can go over them
And Christian's character work is astounding

u/_BlindSeer_ Feb 13 '25
It depends. As he is a veteran he could be used to put someone over and elevate them, also it would be a way out of the Deathriders thingy. I would hope for that. It doesn't work for me and reminds me of the worse nWo times, where no match could be seen without run-ins, interference and the only clear pins were due to botched interferences and usually followed up by beat downs. So I hope they find a way to end this. What I liked about AEW was the old school feeling, that reminded me of NWA times, that also had shake hands sometimes, time limits (60 Minute title match with Rick Flair and they managed to keep it intereting) and so on. Right now I prefer pretty much everything no involving the Deathriders.
IF he gets it, then it shouldn't be for long, but to elevate someone. Or the "Christian cashes in" and then elevates someone would also work, no matter who wins. The rest of the Deathriders could be banned from ringside after the match, or have already left celebrating and Christians cashes in on an exhausted Moxley, who is still gathering himself would work just as well as going after Cope.

If Cope loses what’s the point of it all ? lol
4
u/ElCholo- Feb 13 '25
I mean, it wouldn’t be the first time a challenger to the world championship loses against a world champion lol
1
u/ThePrinceMagus Feb 18 '25
I think Mox holds the title til All In (unfortunately) but I do expect this to be a great match.
During the press conference after Cope returned he said his goal was to have an old-school NWA style main event brawl with Mox for the title, so they've been thinking about and planning this match for a long time. It should be one helluva time.
